Abstract

It takes careful preparation to answer questions with a high difficulty level regarding the trainers' readiness and the student's readiness in the Biology Olympiad Coaching elective course. Critical thinking skills and problem-solving are needed in solving these Olympiad questions. This study aims to analyse biology teacher candidates' critical thinking skills and problem-solving in solving biology Olympiad questions. This study used a quasi-experimental method using the Reading, Questioning, and Answering (RQA) learning model. The dependent variable to be measured is the ability to think critically and solve problems for prospective Biology teacher students. This research was carried out in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year in two classes in the Biology Olympiad Development course at IKIP PGRI Pontianak. The research sample was taken in a saturated manner. Before being given to students, all questions were validated by experts and then continued with the research implementation to obtain data. The normality and homogeneity of research data were then tested. Finally, the research hypothesis was tested using one-way ANCOVA. The study results show that the RQA learning model can empower critical thinking skills and solve problems for prospective teacher students. The RQA learning model can be an effective solution to deal with the advancement of 21st century education.Abstrak Dibutuh persiapan yang matang untuk menjawab soal dengan tingkat kesulitan yang tinggi, baik dari segi kesiapan pelatih maupun kesiapan siswanya pada mata kuliah pilihan Pembinaan Olimpiade Biologi. Kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah diperlukan dalam penyelesaian soal olimpiade ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa calon guru biologi dalam menyelesaikan soal olimpiade biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran Reading, Questioning, and Answering (RQA). Variabel terikat yang akan diukur yakni kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah mahahsiswa calon guru Biologi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022 di dua kelas pada mata kuliah Pembinaan Olimpiade Biologi IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Sampel penelitian diambil secara jenuh. Sebelum diberikan kepada siswa, seluruh soal telah divalidasi oleh ahli kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pelaksanaan penelitian hingga didapatlah data penelitian. Data penelitian kemudian diuji normalitas dan homogenitasnya dan yang terakhir diuji hipotesis penelitian menggunakan one way ANCOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jika model pembelajaran RQA dapat memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan memecahkan masalah mahasiswa calon guru. Model pembelajaran RQA dapat menjadi salah satu solusi yang efektif untuk menghadapi kemajuan pendidikan abad 21.

Abstract

Advances in technology, especially the internet, provide significant benefits to education, but studies are needed to explain internet use by students. This study aims to identify the use of the internet as a learning platform for biology education students at Labuhanbatu University. This study used a survey method with a closed questionnaire as an instrument and interviews. The population in this study was 120 biology education students (semesters I, III, V, and VII), while the sample was taken by total sampling. The questionnaire was distributed via Google form and WhatsApp group containing 22 statements. The results of the study show that in accessing the internet, students use mobile phones more often (93%). The place where students often access the internet is at home (48%). The website that students frequently access is Google Scholar (40%). The identification aspect of the use of the internet as a learning platform for biology education students shows the time intensity of internet use (78.40%), reasons for internet access (3.87%), and the function of the internet as an educational facility (81.35%). The percentage of internet use among students with the highest acquisition is in semester VII, and the lowest is in the semester I. The high level of internet use by students needs to be one of the foundations for planning good lectures.AbstrakKemajuan teknologi khususnya internet memberikan manfaat signifikan pada pendidikan, namun diperlukan studi untuk menjelaskan penggunaan internet oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penggunaan internet sebagai platform pembelajaran mahasiswa pendidikan biologi di Universitas Labuhanbatu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan kuesioner tertutup sebagai instrumen, dan wawancara. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 120 mahasiswa pendidikan biologi (semester I, III, V dan VII), sedangkan penarikan sampel dilakukan secara total sampling. Kuesioner disebarkan melalui google form dan whatsapp group berisi 22 pernyataan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam mengakses internet, mahasiswa lebih sering menggunakan handphone (93%), tempat mahasiswa sering mengakses internet adalah rumah (48%), dan website yang sering diakses mahasiswa adalah google scholar (40%). Aspek identifikasi penggunaan internet sebagai platform pembelajaran mahasiswa pendidikan biologi menunjukkan intensitas waktu penggunaan internet (78,40%), alasan akses internet (3,87%), dan fungsi internet sebagai sarana pendidikan (81,35%). Persentase penggunaaan internet dikalangan mahasiswa dengan perolehan tertinggi berada pada semester VII, dan terendah pada semester I. Tingginya tingkat penggunaan internet oleh mahasiswa perlu menjadi salah satu landasan dalam merencanakan perkuliahan yang baik.

Abstract

The Biochemistry course is a basic and compulsory subject for Biology Education students. This study aims to determine students' level of participation and problem-solving skills through the ability to solve cases of Biomolecules and proteins on Student Worksheets (LKM). This is an Action Research integrated with lesson study with two cycles. The instruments used were student participation rubrics in the case method and LKM problem-solving skills in the Biochemistry course. The subjects in this study were 24 third-semester students of the Biology Education Study Program. Data analysis techniques through descriptive statistics with percentages. The results showed an increase in the percentage from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Student participation in collaborative activities increased from 71.5% to 73.3%, while problem-solving skills increased from 53.5% to 71.7%. Based on the observer transcripts, some students still do not understand the material and cases discussed in lectures in class and the laboratory. This is because students do not actively ask questions and do not have curiosity about the material and case explanations presented by lecturers or fellow students. This study shows that implementing the integrated case method in lesson study can increase student participation activities and problem-solving skills in Biochemistry courses.Abstrak Matakuliah Biokimia merupakan matakuliah dasar dan wajib bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat partisipasi dan problem-solving skill mahasiswa melalui kemampuan menyelesaikan kasus-kasus konsep Biomolekul dan protein pada Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM). Ini adalah penelitian Action Reseach terintegrasi lesson study dengan dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah rubrik pertisipasi mahasiswa dalam case method dan LKM problem-solving skill matakuliah Biokimia. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 24 mahasiswa semester 3 prodi Pendidikan Biologi. Teknik analisis data melalui statistik deskriptif dengan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan persentasi dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2. Aktivitas partisipasi mahasiswa dalam kolaborasi dari 71,5% menjadi 73,3%, sedangkan problem-solving skill mahasiswa dari 53,5% menjadi 71,7%. Berdasarkan transkrip observer masih ada mahasiswa yang kurang memahami materi dan kasus yang didiskusikan dalam perkuliahan di kelas maupun di laboratorium. Hal ini karena mahasiswa tidak aktif bertanya dan tidak memiliki rasa ingin tahu terhadap materi dan penjelasan kasus yang disampaikan oleh dosen atau sesama mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi case method terintergrasi dalam lesson study dapat meningkatkan aktivitas partispasi dan problem-solving skill mahasiswa pada matakuliah Biokimia.

Abstract

Marine biology field practicum based on local potential is routinely held at the Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Borneo Tarakan, but has never been evaluated. This study aims to analyze the implementation and results of the field practicum that has been carried out, and make decisions so that the quality of the process and output of the practicum can be increased. This research is an evaluation research using countenance stake model which is qualitative in nature. The unit of analysis used is the course lecturer, students, field assistants, head of the laboratory, study program curriculum, lesson plans, infrastructure, tools and materials, practicum guides, and practicum reports. The techniques used are observation, interviews and document analysis. Data were analyzed using data condensation techniques, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study are: 1) the planning stage is of poor quality, 2) the process (transaction) stage is of good quality, and 3) the product (outcomes) stage is of excellent quality. The team of lecturers supporting the course needs to plan practicums more carefully as an effort to improve, such as revising the RPS, compiling practicum guidelines based on local potential, compiling assessment instruments and coordinating well with the head of the laboratory regarding the practicum implementation.AbstrakPraktikum lapangan biologi laut berbasis potensi lokal rutin dilaksanakan pada jurusan Pendidikan Biologi Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Borneo Tarakan, namun belum pernah dievaluasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan dan hasil praktikum lapangan yang telah dilaksanakan, dan membuat keputusan agar kualitas proses dan keluaran praktikum dapat meningkat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi menggunakan model countenance stake yang bersifat kualitatif. Unit analisis yang digunakan adalah Dosen Pengampuh mata kuliah, Mahasiswa, Pembantu Lapang, Kepala Laboratorium, kurikulum prodi, RPS, sarana prasarana, alat dan bahan, panduan praktikum, dan laporan praktikum. Teknik yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu: 1) tahap perencanaan berada pada kualitas kurang baik, 2) tahap proses (transaction) berada pada kualitas baik, dan 3) tahap produk (outcomes) berada pada kualitas sangat baik. Tim Dosen pengampuh mata kuliah perlu merencanakan praktikum dengan lebih matang sebagai upaya perbaikan, seperti merevisi RPS, menyusun panduan praktikum berbasis potensi lokal, menyusun instrumen penilaian dan melakukan koordinasi yang baik dengan kepala laboratorium terkait pelaksanaan praktikum.

Abstract

The use of teaching materials with conventional-based student worksheets (LKPD) still dominates, while accessing the internet is easy and facilitates learning. The facilities and infrastructure owned are also very supportive in the application process, so there is a need for developing research that encourages students to be active in learning using the internet with a more enjoyable experience. This research aims to develop valid, practical, and effective Liveworksheet-based interactive LKPD using the ADDIE development model. The research instruments used were validation questionnaires, response questionnaires, learning achievement tests, and observation sheets. The subjects in this study were students of class X MIA 3 (29 students). The results show that Liveworksheet-based interactive LKPD have a very valid with an average value of 3.6. The practicality level based on the results of the student response questionnaire was 82.1%, and the teacher's response value was 89.2%. The level of effectiveness obtained by very good criteria based on the completeness of the classical learning outcomes is 100%. The developed Liveworksheet-based interactive LKPD meet the valid, practical, and effective criteria. Liveworksheet-based interactive LKPD provides an enjoyable experience for students and achieves classical mastery.Abstrak Penggunaan bahan ajar dengan lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) yang berbasis konvensional masih mendominasi, sementara mengakses internet sudah mudah dan dapat memudahkan proses pembelajaran. Sarana dan prasarana yang dimiliki juga sangat mendukung dalam proses pengaplikasiannya, sehingga perlu penelitian pengembangan yang mendorong peserta didik aktif dalam pembelajaran menggunakan internet dengan pengalaman yang lebih menyenangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan LKPD interaktif berbasis Liveworksheet yang valid, praktis, dan efektif menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket validasi, angket respon, tes hasil belajar, dan lembar observasi. Adapun subjek pada penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas X MIA 3 (29 peserta didik). Hasilnya menunjukkan LKPD interaktif berbasis Liveworksheet memiliki tingkat kevalidan sangat valid dengan nilai rata-rata 3,6. Tingkat kepraktisan berdasarkan hasil angket respon siswa yaitu 82.1% dan nilai respon guru adalah 89.2%. Tingkat keefektifannya diperoleh kriteria sangat baik berdasarkan ketuntasan hasil belajar secara klasikal yang diperoleh adalah 100%. Artinya LKPD interaktif berbasis Liveworksheet yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. LKPD interaktif berbasis Liveworksheet memberikan pengalaman yang menyenangkan bagi peserta didik dan mencapai ketuntasan klasikal.

Abstract

Learning media is everything that is used to distribute information in learning. The use of appropriate and varied media can overcome the passive nature of students in the teaching and learning process. The results of the analysis of observational questionnaires on students and teachers, it is known that the media that tend to be used are textbooks and modules. Therefore, teachers and students still want other learning media that are able to attract interest in reading and can easily be used anytime and anywhere by students. Based on this, a digital booklet on the material of the human digestive system was developed as a valid learning medium for class XI SMA/MA students. This research was conducted at the Department of Biology, FMIPA UNP and SMAN 1 Rao, using a 4D development model (define, design, develop and disseminate) which is abbreviated at the develop (3D) stage. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The average value of validation is 90.95% with a very valid category. This criterion was obtained from four aspects tested, namely aspects of the feasibility of content, language, presentation and graphics. Digital booklets with very valid criteria are appropriate for use in the student learning process.Abstrak Media pembelajaran merupakan segala sesuatu yang digunakan untuk menyalurkan informasi dalam pembelajaran. Penggunaan media yang tepat dan bervariasi dapat mengatasi sifat pasif perserta didik dalam proses belajar mengajar. Hasil analisis angket observasi terhadap peserta didik dan guru, diketahui media yang cenderung digunakan adalah buku teks dan modul. Oleh karena itu guru dan peserta didik masih menginginkan media pembelajaran lain yang mampu menarik minat baca dan dengan mudah dapat digunakan kapan dan dimana saja oleh peserta didik. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dikembangkanlah booklet digital pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia sebagai media pembelajaran yang dilengkapi dengan gambar dan video yang interaktif untuk peserta didik kelas XI SMA/MA yang valid. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Departemen Biologi FMIPA UNP dan SMAN 1 Rao, dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (define, design, develop dan disseminate) yang disingkat pada tahap develop (3D). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik deskriptif.  Nilai rata-rata validasi 90,95% dengan kategori sangat valid. Kriteria ini diperoleh dari empat aspek yang diuji yaitu aspek kelayakan isi, kebahasaan, penyajian dan kegrafikaan. Booklet digital dengan kriteria sangat valid layak digunakan dalam proses belajar oleh siswa.

Abstract

The validation process is crucial in developing teaching materials to see the suitability of teaching materials with the expected learning outcomes. Teaching materials that have been declared valid can be used in the learning process. Technology-based teaching materials such as android application-based ones are one of the alternative teaching materials suitable for use in the learning process in the era of society 5.0 education. This study aimed to analyse  the validity of teaching materials for the sub-concept of the structure and function of tissues in plants in high schools based on android applications. A quantitative descriptive research method was employed to find information on the validity of the teaching materials compiled. The study used a 4D development model. The subjects of the validity data were three validators (expert judgment), namely two lecturers and one partner teacher. The results showed that the teaching materials compiled obtained a suitability score of 4.45 and the results of the feasibility test of 4.35. Hence, the average validity score was 4.4, with a very valid category. The valid android application-based teaching material is feasible in the learning process with more flexibility.Abstrak Proses validasi pada pengembangan bahan ajar diperlukan untuk melihat kesesuaian bahan ajar dengan capaian pembelajaran yang diharapkan. Bahan ajar yang telah divalidasi dan dinyatakan valid dapat  digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Bahan ajar berbasis teknologi seperti berbasis aplikasi android merupakan salah satu alternatif bahan ajar yang sesuai untuk digunakan pada proses pembelajaran di era pendidikan society 5.0. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis validitas bahan ajar sub konsep struktur dan fungsi jaringan pada tumbuhan d SMA berbasis aplikasi android. Metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, untuk menemukan informasi validitas bahan ajar yang disusun. Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan 4D. Subyek data validitas yaitu tiga orang validator (expert judgement) yaitu dua orang dosen dan dan orang guru mitra. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bahan ajar yang disusun memperoleh skor kesesuaian sebesar 4.45 dan asil uji kelayakan sebesar 4.35. Maka, rerata skor validitas 4.4 dengan kategori sangat valid. Materi pelajaran berbasis aplikasi android layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran dengan lebih fleksibel.

Abstract

Online learning is an alternative solution in the learning process in the Covid-19 pandemic era. Technology plays a vital role as a teaching medium in the online learning process. This study aims to describe the learning outcomes of 323 Biology Education study program students. This research is a descriptive study with data obtained using observation sheet instruments to collect data related to online learning and documentation of learning outcomes scores which were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The technology used in online learning is Zoom Meeting, Google Metting, WhatsApp, Youtube, and LMS (Learning Management system) in the form of SIMARI. The results of this study indicate that the average student learning outcomes of the Biology Education Study Program are 99%, having met the course completion criteria. This result shows that technology also plays a vital role in education, especially distance learning. Lecture activities experience a faster transformation in the use of technology.Abstrak Pembelajaran daring menjadi alternatif solusi dalam proses pembelajaran di era pandemic Covid-19. Teknologi berperan penting sebagai media ajar dalam proses pembelajaran daring. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Biologi sebanyak 323 orang. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan data diperoleh mengunakan instrument lembar observasi untuk mengumpulkan data terkait pembelajaran daring dan dokumentasi skor hasil belajar yang dianalisis menggunakan statistic deskriptif. Teknologi yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran online yaitu Zoom Meeting, Google Metting, Whatsapp, Youtube, dan LMS (Learning Management system) berupa SIMARI. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rata rata hasil belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi 99% telah memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan mata kuliah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi juga berperan penting pada dunia Pendidikan terutama pada pembelajran jarak jauh. Kegiatan perkuliahan mengalami transformasi lebih cepat dalam penggunaan teknologi.

Abstract

The Challenges of 21st Century Education in the digital era 4.0 require the learning process to follow digitalization. Since 2019 the world has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, and this condition has made the government issue an online distance learning policy. So that digital literacy competence is an urgent need for teachers to carry out learning. The study aims to describe the level of digital literacy and the character of each level of digital literacy of Biology Science teachers in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at MTsN 2 Kapuas. The research method is descriptive qualitative with three people of the research subject. The research instrument includes the main instrument of the researcher himself and the supporting instrument of the teacher's written sheet (LTG). The level of digital literacy is categorized based on a hypothetical theory with five levels, namely LDGPP 4 (very high), LDGPP 3 (high), LDGPP 2 (medium), LDGPP 1 (low) and LDGPP 0 (very low). The results showed that Biology Science teachers' digital literacy level in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at MTsN 2 Kapuas consisted of two levels, namely LDGPP 4 (very high) and LDGPP 3 (high). The teacher's high level of digital literacy is strength to produce students with a high level of digital literacy as well.Abstrak Tantangan Pendidikan Abad 21 era digital 4.0 menuntut proses pembelajaran mengikuti digitalisasi. Sejak tahun 2019 dunia dilanda pandemi Covid-19, kondisi ini membuat pemerintah mengeluarkan kebijakan pembelajaran jarak jauh secara online. Sehingga kompetensi literasi digital menjadi kebutuhan mendesak yang harus dimiliki guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat literasi digital dan karakteristik setiap tingkat literasi digital guru IPA Biologi dalam pembelajaran masa pandemi Covid-19 di MTsN 2 Kapuas. Metode penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan tiga orang subjek penelitian. Instrumen penelitian meliputi instrumen utamanya peneliti sendiri dan instrumen pendukungnya lembar tertulis guru (LTG). Tingkat literasi digital dikategorikan berdasarkan teori hipotetik dengan lima tingkatan, yaitu LDGPP 4 (sangat tinggi), LDGPP 3 (tinggi), LDGPP 2 (sedang), LDGPP 1 (rendah) dan LDGPP 0 (sangat rendah). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat literasi digital guru IPA Biologi dalam pembelajaran pada masa pandemi Covid-19 di MTsN 2 Kapuas terdiri dari dua tingkatan yaitu LDGPP 4 (sangat tinggi) dan LDGPP 3 (tinggi). Level literasi digital guru yang tinggi merupakan kekuatan untuk menghasilkan peserta didik dengan level literasi digital yang tinggi pula.

Abstract

The Popular Scientific Book (PSB) on Odonata that inhabits the Tabanio Coastal Forest, Tanah Laut Regency has been completed, but its practicality has yet to be determined. The aim of the research was to determine the practicality of the PSB. The determining parameters were readability, applicability, and student responses which in this case are undergraduate students of the Biology Education Study Program. Readability was tested by three students using the one-to-one method. The implementation was tested by five observers through a small group assessment (on five students using the PSB) to get the expected implementation value and field test assessment (on 10 students) so that the actual implementation was obtained. Student responses were obtained from small groups (five students) and field tests (10 students). The result is that the readability of the book is categorized as Very Good, the implementation of expectations and actual implementation is categorized as Very Good, as well as the expected and actual responses from students Strongly Agree. With these categories, this PSB on Odonata is stated to be practical to use.Abstrak Buku Ilmiah Populer (BIP) tentang Odonata yang menghuni Hutan Pantai Tabanio, Kabupaten Tanah Laut telah selesai, namun belum ditentukan kepraktisannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kepraktisan BIP. Parameter yang menentukan adalah keterbacaan, penerapan, dan tanggapan mahasiswa yang dalam hal ini adalah mahasiswa S1 Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi. Keterbacaan diuji oleh tiga mahasiswa dengan menggunakan metode one-to-one. Implementasi diuji oleh lima orang pengamat melalui penilaian kelompok kecil (pada lima mahasiswa menggunakan BIP) untuk mendapatkan nilai implementasi yang diharapkan dan penilaian uji lapangan (pada 10 mahasiswa) sehingga diperoleh implementasi yang sebenarnya. Respon mahasiswa diperoleh dari kelompok kecil (lima mahasiswa) dan uji lapangan (10 mahasiswa). Hasilnya adalah keterbacaan buku dikategorikan Sangat Baik, pelaksanaan harapan dan pelaksanaan aktual dikategorikan Sangat Baik, serta respon yang diharapkan dan aktual dari mahasiswa Sangat Setuju. Dengan kategori tersebut, BIP di Odonata ini dinyatakan praktis untuk digunakan.
