Abstract

Smoking causes various diseases in our bodies, such as heart disease and blood vessel disorders, lung cancer, oral cavity cancer, laryngeal cancer, high blood pressure, impotence as well as pregnancy disorders and fetal defects. The dangers of smoking are not only aimed at smokers (active smokers) but also for non-smokers who inhale cigarette smoke around smokers (passive smokers) and in fact the effects received from passive smokers will be much more dangerous than active smokers. Because of the many negative impacts that arise for teenage smokers, it is necessary to provide knowledge and understanding to teenagers, especially Islamic boarding school children, regarding the dangers posed by smoking. The goal is to increase understanding by providing education to Students regarding the effects of smoking on the heart and blood vessels as an effort to reduce smoking behavior among students in PP. Al Hikam Bangkalan. The methods used in counseling are lectures and questions answer. Before counseling, participants were given a pre-test, then after counseling, participants were given a post-test. The results of the pre-test and post-test are assessed and then data processing and evaluation are carried out. Pre-test results and post-test regarding knowledge of the effects of smoking on the heart and blood vessels through a questionnaire, there was a direct increase in scores by students who took part in this activity. The percentage increase in average value was 9.7%. This significant increase in the average value indicates a change in the level of knowledge of the participants after attending the counseling session. Introducing the effects of smoking on the heart and blood vessels as an effort to reduce smoking behavior among students in PP. Al Hikam Bangkalan has increased knowledge and understanding of the dangers of smoking.

Abstract

People with severe mental disorder (PSMD; Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa, ODGJ) are a vulnerable group of people who experience loss of their rights to life because of their mental limitations, namely the right to work and earn an income independently. In previous activities, there was an opportunity for PSMD to recover through a series of training. To achieve recovery, it is necessary to hold a patient selection program so that patients who take part in the training series are not in the acute phase. Mental health cadres who are close to the community have a big role in determining which PSMD will then take part in entrepreneurship training activities. Therefore, mental health cadres need to deepen their insight into mental disorders and increase their empowerment in patient selection programs for PSMD. This activity aims to increase the understanding of mental health cadres regarding mental disorders and increase their empowerment in implementing patient selection programs for PSMD. The method used was by conducting outreach to mental health cadres regarding the topic of mental disorders as well as providing patient selection program training to mental health cadres. Before counseling and training, a 10-minute pre-test was conducted for the participants, then continued with an outreach and training session as well as questions and answers and discussions for approximately 60 minutes, and at the end a 10-minute post-test was carried out. The results showed an increase in pre-test and post-test data on the topic of mental disorders as well as an increase in empowerment by mental health cadre participants in carrying out patient selection programs. Community service activities regarding patient selection program training for mental health cadres in developing independent businesses for PSMD families in the Gresik district have provided improvements to mental health cadres, namely in the form of increased insight regarding mental disorders and increased empowerment in carrying out patient selection programs for PSMD.

Abstract

Humans have a characteristic of imitative behavior, including children. Good or bad behavior, good or bad behavior, good or bad habits, are all formed in the social environment (home). Where this can happen due to children's observations of their parents. We must understand the management of emotions in children properly. Because it could be that the emotions conveyed by children are an affirmation or confirmation of the behavior that we as parents exemplify or the application of what we teach. Parents do have more experience than children so they teach their children what they have experienced or know. From the results of the study, it was found that there are still many parents who do not properly capture their children's emotions. So that good emotional management for children has not been achieved. Neutralizing emotions in this child was ultimately chosen as material used for community service activities. With the aim that parents know so they can properly capture their children's emotions. Apart from that, it is also hoped that there will be no incidents of parental violence towards children. This community service was carried out in Rangkah Kidul Village, Sidoarjo. Attended by parents of kindergarten and elementary school students. The activity was carried out in 1 day with a preparation time of 5 weeks. The activity ran smoothly with a total of 56 parents invited and 46 parents attending

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia have classic problems related to the health of students, one of which is common in Islamic boarding schools and identical to the lives of students, is scabies. This community service activity was carried out at the As Syafiiyah Islamic boarding school to provide solutions to the problems of the As Syafiiyah Islamic boarding school community by providing education, training as well and mentoring Islamic boarding school health cadres in preventing scabies. This activity is carried out by providing education, training, and assistance to students and poskestren cadres about "self-care" in preventing scabies. Evaluation of this activity was carried out using pre and post-test scores. It was found that there was an increase in the post-test score compared to the pre-test. Before the self-care training was given, it was found that 20% of the students were still not clean in maintaining their hygiene, but after the self-care training was given, it was found that none (0%) of the students were clean and 58.5% of their hygiene was good. It is concluded that self-care training can improve the ability of students to prevent scabies through personal hygiene skills which include: clothing hygiene, skin hygiene, hand and nail hygiene, genital hygiene, towel hygiene, and cleanliness of prayer tools. The behavior of preventing scabies through maintaining personal hygiene needs to be stated in the Pesantren regulations and socialized to the Pesantren community and requires support from the Kyai or Pesantren leaders, including Bu Nyai Pesantren so that it can be implemented properly.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious issue affecting child growth and development due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections. In Palu City, the prevalence of stunting among children under five reached 22.1% in 2023, with a target to reduce it to 14% by 2024. Achieving this target requires a comprehensive approach, including public education on the importance of stunting prevention and balanced nutrition. In addition to education, training in healthy food processing based on local food potential is also conducted, aimed at utilizing local resources rich in nutritional value. This program is implemented through step-by-step cooking demonstrations with direct community involvement. One of the food innovations introduced is the processing of moringa leaves into moringa chicken tofu balls, which are nutrient-dense to support child growth. The program has shown improvements in community knowledge and skills in processing local foods and understanding nutritional intake. However, the program has not fully achieved its target due to low awareness among mothers about balanced nutrition. Therefore, additional strategies are needed, such as continuous nutrition campaigns, strengthening community participation, and cross-sector collaboration to achieve optimal results.
