Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the relationships between various variables in the context of startup companies in Indonesia. The study was conducted over the course of one academic year, specifically 2022/2023, within a startup company in Indonesia. A sample of 270 respondents was randomly selected from the target population. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed as the analytical technique. The t-test results indicated a positive influence of perceived e-leadership on teleworking output, subsequently impacting employee adaptive performance. Furthermore, transparent communication had a significant positive direct effect on employee adaptive performance, with a path coefficient of 0.286 (positive) and a p-value of 0.001-0.005 (significant). These findings highlight the importance of transparent communication in enhancing employee adaptive performance. The results have practical implications for decision-making processes and can potentially contribute to the development of effective strategies and practices within the industry.

Abstract

Social capital is an essential factor which supports the progression of entrepreneurship, and many recent studies have examined its positive relations to individual empowerment. Although many studies focus on social capital, research on online social capital in the context of vulnerable groups, such as women, still needs further examination. This paper aims to examine the role of online social capital in the development of female entrepreneurship by examining various constructs it may affect. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework, we conducted a systematic review to map existing literature from 2018 until 2023. The finding confirms that online social capital, bonding, bridging, or both, positively influence several constructs, such as social connections, emotional support, entrepreneurial perception and opportunity process, self-efficacy, and empowerment.

Abstract

This research analyzed survey data from 204 Cirebon City residents to investigate the associations between education level, job suitability, and employment sector. Education was classified as primary, secondary, high school, or university education. Job suitability compares respondents’ education to the typical qualifications needed for their current role. Outcomes included the sector of employment in fields such as services, manufacturing, finance, technology, and others. The results showed that higher education levels and greater alignment between schooling and occupation were associated with more employment in high-skilled sectors, such as finance and technology. Those with a university education and high education-job match tended to work in professional sectors. The findings indicate strong links between academic credentials, the occupational relevance of education, and securing jobs in skilled sectors. This study provides insights that can help shape policies that promote schooling and employment congruence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing voter decision-making among first-time voters in the 2024 regional head elections in the Riau Islands Province. Employing a quantitative research design, the study utilizes survey methods through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research investigates five key variables: Attitude Toward the Behavior, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control, Social Media Political Marketing Activity, and Negative Political Advertising. Data collection was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Hypothesis testing was carried out through both partial and simultaneous regression analyses. The results indicate that all five independent variables significantly affect the voting decisions of first-time voters, suggesting that individual beliefs, social expectations, perceived ease of performing the behavior, online political engagement, and exposure to negative campaigning all play substantial roles in shaping voter behavior. These findings underscore the importance of strategic communication and ethical political engagement tailored to the youth demographic. For policymakers and campaign teams, understanding these determinants can support more inclusive and effective approaches to encourage political participation among young voters in regional elections, particularly in geographically dispersed areas like the Riau Islands.

Abstract

The study examines the multifaceted relationship between women's entrepreneurial skills, product innovation, and economic independence within the home industry sector of Medan City. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were gathered from a purposive sample of 376 women entrepreneurs. Questionnaires were distributed both offline and online, and the collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with Smart PLS 4.0 software. The analysis process included rigorous testing for validity and reliability, as well as an evaluation of both the measurement and structural models to ensure the robustness of the findings. The results reveal that entrepreneurial skills possess a statistically significant influence on product innovation, demonstrating that a high level of managerial, leadership, and creative abilities among female entrepreneurs directly enhances their capacity to innovate. Furthermore, a strong and significant relationship was found between product innovation and economic independence, indicating that diversifying products increases competitive advantage and improves financial security. Crucially, the analysis confirms that product innovation acts as a significant mediator in the link between entrepreneurial skills and economic independence. This finding highlights that entrepreneurial skills are most effective in promoting economic independence when consistently accompanied by product innovation. The most dominant indicators were leadership skills, product variants, and financial management capabilities, which are identified as key drivers of success. In conclusion, this research underscores the vital role of product innovation in translating entrepreneurial talent into tangible economic empowerment for women in the home industry.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of e-commerce adoption among Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, emphasizing the roles of technology readiness and perceived benefits. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 384 MSME respondents through a structured survey and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results reveal that perceived benefits have a significant positive effect on e-commerce adoption (β = 1.578, t = 5.519, p < 0.001), while technology readiness shows a significant negative effect (β = –1.025, t = 3.543, p < 0.001). The model’s explanatory power is strong, with R² = 0.642, indicating that 64.2% of the variance in adoption is explained by these two variables. The findings highlight that MSMEs are more motivated to adopt e-commerce when they clearly perceive its tangible advantages, such as increased operational efficiency, broader market reach, and higher sales, rather than solely relying on technological readiness. This paradox suggests that infrastructure alone does not guarantee adoption without adequate digital literacy and trust in online transactions. Policymakers should therefore prioritize programs that enhance digital capabilities and demonstrate practical benefits to strengthen e-commerce adoption among MSMEs.
