Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakter kehidupan masyarakat Madura yang terkandung di dalam film “Mata Pena” dengan pendekatan semiotika. Urgensi penelitian ini untuk mendasari pandangan bahwa orang Madura tidak seperti pandangan negatif yang dipikirkan selama ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik deskripsi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik simak video, catat hal-hal penting, dan pustaka sebagai referensi penguat terhadap argumentasi. Teknik analisis yang dilakukan adalah dengan mereduksi data sesuai dengan klasifikasinya, menampilkan data, dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) aspek tanda tersebut dikelompokkan dalam bentuk ujaran denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Secara sederhana, makna denotasi adalah penggamabaran makna sebenarnya dari bahasa Madura ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Untuk makna konotasi dan mitos adalah dua hal yang berkaitan terhadap makna yang disepakati dalam kehidupan kebudayaan masyarakat Madura. Hal tersebut tergambar pada mitos yang berisi tentang peribahasa (parebhasan) Madura yang disepekati bersama. (2) Refleksi (karakter) pada film pendek Madura tersebut berisi beberapa karakter yaitu kekeluargaan, kokoh (teguh), berhati-hati, dan dapat dipercaya. Karakter-karakter tersebut merupakan implementasi kebudayaan masyarakat Madura dalam berkehidupan sosial dalam sehari-hari.

Abstract

Denny Sumargo's podcast has become one of the most popular channels for various people. One of the interesting topics that can be studied is the potential presuppositions that appear in speech. Denny Sumargo discoursed with his interlocutor through the use of certain figurative speech. The aim of this study is to analyze the figurative speech control rationale of potential presuppositional found on Denny Sumargo’s YouTube podcast channel with Laura Anna. The research method used in this study was content analysis with a qualitative approach. The data was taken from discourse activities on the video podcast of Denny Sumargo with Laura Anna which aired on Youtube. The data in this study was a discourse that contained potential presuppositions. Data collection techniques in the study were carried out with documentation techniques, listening techniques, and note-taking techniques. Based on the data analysis, it was found that all types of potential presuppositions were in the style of repetition, ellipsis, symbolism, hyperbole, euphemism, and metaphor. Those potential presuppositions of figurative speech aim to soften the language so that the interlocutor does not feel offended, to confirm the intention, to trigger interpretation, and to enhance the impression. Those a forms of rationalization of speech to control the social attributes of Laura Anna as a guest star who is paralyzed due to an accident.

Abstract

This research is motivated by phenomena that occur in the context of learning Indonesian as a foreign language related to intercultural communication activities between foreign students and Indonesians in general (BIPA teachers, language partners, and local people), for example related to intercultural communication barriers and attitudes, anda attitudes that shown by foreign students in intercultural communication. This research is aimed to describe the (1) negative attitudes and (b) positive attitudes of foreign students in understanding the message in intercultural communication. This research is descriptive-qualitative research based on phenomena that appear in BIPA learning. The data in this research is taken from the questionnaires and in-depth interview with foreign students. The results are three negative attitudes, there are (a) denial, (b) defense or reversal, and (c) minimization and three positives attitudes, there are (a) acceptance, (b) adaptation, and (c) integration shown by foreign students in understanding messages in intercultural communication. This research can contribute thoughts and insights and can be used as a reference in further researching intercultural communication. In addition, it can also be used by foreign students and Indonesians in general, such as BIPA teachers, language partners, and local people as references in intercultural communication.

Abstract

The teacher's assessment of students' poetry reading skills has differences in research instruments, especially in the assessment aspect. The assessment instrument used in poetry reading skills is adjusted to the elements contained in the poem. This study aims to describe the literature review of the instruments used in poetry reading assessment. This study used a qualitative method with a literature review approach. The research stages were carried out starting from article collection, article reduction, article display, discussion, and conclusion. Sources of research data are in the form of national articles in the last 6 years (2015-2021). The results showed that the aspect that was often assessed was the aspect of intonation with a percentage of 21%, while the aspect that was rarely used was the aspect of articulation, interpretation and stage mastery with a percentage of 1%. There was also an addition to the assessment aspect of poetry reading from year (2015-2021).

Abstract

The issue of language politeness is an interesting thing, especially when it occurs in a place like a port which is synonymous with a meeting place for individuals of all kinds, both from socio-cultural as well as language or ethnicity. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to use politeness in Talango Harbor? This research is qualitative descriptive research because it reveals the quality of language politeness objectively in a group of people at Talango Harbor in the form of dialogue recorded by the researcher. Based on the results of the study, the conclusions of this study are as follows. (1) At the lexical level, there are still many deviations in the use of politeness in Talango Port, mainly by boatmen to traders and passengers who are routine and very familiar. (2) At the phrase level there are still deviations, especially those committed by boatmen to traders and passengers who are routine and very familiar. (3) At the sentence level there are still deviations. This happens because of the original nature that really likes to use language that is not polite to those who are routine and familiar. However, it was found that for those who were not familiar and had a slightly higher social status at the lexical level, phrases and sentences were quite polite.

Abstract

Gus Yaqut's statement regarding Surat Edaran Nomor 5 Tahun 2022 tentang Pedoman Penggunaan Pengeras Suara di Masjid dan Musala garnered controversy. The reason is that the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia is considered to be comparing the call to prayer with the barking of dogs. The public reacted: the chairman of GP Ansor was accused of blasphemy against Islam. This study examines the statement of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia using the Piercian semiotic approach. Using Morris's scheme of sign systems, this study examines verbal-linguistic facts that are considered fatal. The research method used is qualitative with a note-taking technique. The results of the data analysis are described descriptively. The research data in the form of syntagms were tested as semiotic facts, both grammatically and pragmatically meaningful. The results showed that from the three categories of Morris semiotics (syntax, semantics, and pragmatics) which were operationalized in the statement of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, there was no fact of blasphemy. The syntactic relation between “adhan” and “dog barking” is a grammatical construction as an analogy which in public rhetoric is used to express “audiotive noise” in society. The analogy is not a comparison (binary) to make an alignment but concretizes a statement so that the message is understood easily by the recipient of the message. The analogy is carried out so that the substance of the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia is accepted by the public. Meanwhile, the facts that have happened show that the opposite confirms that the language entity in the community is very dynamic, wild, and sometimes acrobatic from the initial goal.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms of verbs for men and women grammatically and social side; describe the semantic types of verbs for men and women grammatically and social side in the comments column of Narasi Newsroom’s Youtube. The research method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data in this study are the use of verbs used by men and women in the YouTube Narration Newsroom comments column. Data collection techniques consist of documentation techniques, comprehending and note-taking techniques. Data were analyzed using verb theory and language and gender theory. The result showed that there are 205 forms of verbs used by men, 238 forms of verbs used by women, 114 semantic types of verbs used by men, and 135 semantic types of verbs used by women. Characteristics of verb forms based on social side between men and women languages could be seen in the terms of diction and morphology in the form of affixation. Based on the aspect meaning, women use symbolic language while men use direct language at problem points. Women interact by increasing solidarity while men by maintaining power and status. The topic of conversation for women focuses on affective functions while men on competence.

Abstract

Indonesian has many vocabularies which have developed more or less according to the user community and their needs. With the existence of an Indonesian dictionary that contains vocabulary and meanings that serve as guidelines, standardization of vocabulary in the KBBI and requires scientific negotiation. Through semantic science which is the basis for its compilation and standardization, with the present dictionary presentation, vocabulary and meaning will be easier to understand. The type of research used in this study is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis. This qualitative method is used by researchers to analyze the data findings. The data’s source in this study is from KBBI V (online). The dictionary will be analyzed for its elements of abbreviations and acronyms. Analysis this study was carried out descriptively which later was expected to be able to find the characteristics, properties, and functions through the selection of the required data. The results of this study found that there are several abbreviations and acronyms found in the KBBI (online). Abbreviations and acronyms found are seen from the process of formation, form, and function. Another existence found by researchers is the use of abbreviations and acronyms as research that can enrich and vocabulary development.

Abstract

Motivasi belajar siswa dapat dikaitkan dengan kemampuan informasi pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Fokus penelitian ini pada tiga hal, yaitu (1) hasil motivasi belajar siswa dalam berliterasi; (2) AKM (Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum) literasi; (3) korelasi antara motivasi belajar dengan AKM literasi siswa di SD Negeri Kebonsari Kulon 6 Kota Probolinggo. Penelitian kuantitatif dengan analisis statistika deskriptif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian siswa kelas V yang mengikuti uji AKM oleh program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 3. Angket dan tes dimanfaatkan guna teknik pengumpulan data. Dalam menganalisis hasil dikuatkan dengan teori motivasi belajar oleh Duncan dan Mckeachie yang memiliki enam aspek dalam mengukur motivasi belajar meliputi kecemasan, kepercayaan diri, kontrol kepercayaan, nilai tugas, tujuan orientasi ekstrinsik, serta tujuan orientasi intrinsik. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa motivasi belajar dan AKM literasi siswa sangat tinggi akan tetapi nilai korelasi antara keduanya masih sangat lemah. Hal tersebut dapat ditinjau dari beberapa faktor yakni meliputi pemahaman siswa dalam soal AKM Literasi dan penyusunan strategi pembelajaran yang memiliki kualitas tinggi serta efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of sound change symptoms and the factors that cause sound changes. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research data is based on learning speaking skills for 9 meetings from 12 meetings with a duration of 30 minutes. The source of research data is based on the results of Zoom video recordings of the speaking learning process for BIPA students at the beginner level, totaling 1 student from Egypt and 2 students from Uzbekistan. The data collection technique used is the technique of recording, listening, and taking notes. The data analysis used is error analysis. The results obtained were found data forms of assimilation changes, data forms of vocal modifications, data forms of anapticsis sound epenthesis, data forms anapticsis sound paragog, data forms zeroization of syncope sounds, data forms zeroization of apocope sounds, data forms monophthong changes, lenisi form data. The factors that cause changes in sound assimilation, vocal modification, anaptiksis, zeroization, monophthong, and lenisi, so that educators can provide special training to students from Egypt and Uzbekistan in learning speaking skills. The impact of these sound changes resulted in differences in meaning and improper pronunciation.
