Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruptions to the global tourism industry, with the absence of tourists and flight restrictions exacerbating challenges for tourism-dependent economies like Indonesia. This study examines the socio-economic impact of the pandemic on Jakarta's tourism sector, focusing on the effectiveness of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), economic repercussions, and long-term resilience strategies. The research highlights the role of Social Media Advertising, Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM), Celebrity Endorsements in influencing tourist behavior. Using a sample of 260 respondents who engaged in tourism activities, the data was analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS). The findings reveal that Brand Image positively influences Visit Intention, while Celebrity Endorsement directly affects Visit Intention but not Brand Image. E-WOM and Social Media Advertising positively impact both Brand Image and Visit Intention. These results provide valuable insights for policymakers in navigating pandemic recovery strategies for Jakarta’s tourism sector.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on impulsive buying behaviour among e-commerce consumers in Indonesia. Using an online survey involving 349 active e-commerce users in Indonesia, the study examines levels of FOMO, frequency of impulsive purchases, and perceptions of flash sale promotions. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) AMOS reveals that FOMO significantly positively affects impulsive buying behaviour, with flash sale strategies amplifying this relationship. Furthermore, demographic factors such as age, digital literacy levels, and social influence are found to moderate this relationship. The findings underscore the importance of understanding consumer psychology in designing effective and ethical marketing strategies. Thus, this study contributes to the existing literature on consumer behaviour and has significant implications for marketers, e-commerce platforms, and policymakers.

Abstract

The significance of customer loyalty in the banking industry has gained more importance, particularly due to the recent technological advancements. With the growing number of emerging digital banking services, customers demand banks to develop mobile banking apps with superior online features and qualities. This study aims to investigate how utilitarian and hedonic qualities impact online loyalty through the mediating roles of online satisfaction and online trust in digital banking services. The study collected responses from 251 digital banking service customers living in Jakarta. The results indicate that hedonic qualities significantly enhance online satisfaction, online trust, and online loyalty. Utilitarian qualities are confirmed to enhance online satisfaction and online trust directly. However, utilitarian qualities are not found to be directly linked to online loyalty. Furthermore, this research concludes that both online satisfaction and online trust mediate the relationships between utilitarian and hedonic qualities and online loyalty.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of human resource development (HRD) strategies based on education and training on lecturer quality in higher education institutions in Gorontalo, with organizational support as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach and correlational method, data were collected from 84 respondents through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that both education- and training-based HRD strategies have a significant positive effect on organizational support. However, their direct effects on lecturer quality are not significant. Organizational support has a significant positive effect on lecturer quality and significantly mediates the relationship between HRD strategies and lecturer quality. These findings highlight the crucial role of organizational support in enhancing the effectiveness of HRD strategies in improving lecturer quality in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of workload on service performance while considering other influencing factors. Using a causal research design with a quantitative approach, data were gathered through questionnaires distributed to 100 employees of RSUD Sayang Rakyat Makassar. Analysis was conducted with the Structural Equation Model (SEM) using PLS. The results show that workload has a positive and significant influence on service performance through workability. A higher workload motivates employees to develop skills, enhancing service outcomes. These findings align with motivation and competency theories, which emphasize that improving employee skills can boost productivity and service quality. The study contributes to management science by showing that effective workload management enhances employability and service performance. Organizations are advised to implement workload strategies and support skill development. Limitations include the use of cross-sectional data and a focus on a single industry, suggesting that future research should broaden the generalizability.
