Abstract

This research is motivated by a document review conducted related to several scientific articles of students. Based on this, it is known that the writing of scientific articles does not meet the standards of writing standard Indonesian. Some errors in the use of Indonesian Spelling, one of which is the placement of writing prepositions is not in accordance with standard Indonesian writing. Students consider that prepositions are not important to pay attention to so that students ignore writing in the use of prepositions. Several other studies have shown that the use of prepositions has not been mastered by elementary school students in writing narrative essays. This research was conducted by Ngaisah and Sugiarti in 2018. So, it can be concluded that prepositions have been taught starting from elementary school level. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study are sentences that use prepositions in scientific articles written by students of Ekasakti University. The data source in this study is the scientific articles of students of Ekasakti University. The data collection technique in this study is the document search technique. The steps in data collection are: First, data is collected by selecting and collecting several scientific articles of students of Ekasakti University. Second, the author analyzes the use of prepositions in scientific articles of students. The findings and discussion show that students are still unable to use prepositions according to their function and writing. Students make several mistakes in writing single prepositions, namely in the use of the prepositions di and ke. Mistakes are also found in the use of combined prepositions that do not match their function, such as the use of the prepositions from…until.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the need for developing folklore textbooks based on Project Based Learning (PBL) for students in tertiary institutions. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through interviews, class observations and documentation studies. This research involved lecturers and students taking folklore courses at several universities to find out their challenges, needs and hopes regarding folklore learning. The research results show that there is a need for more applicable and contextual textbooks, which integrate folklore theory with practical experience, such as field research and creating culture-based projects. In addition, the PBL approach is expected to increase students' active involvement in the learning process, develop research, collaboration and problem solving skills. Based on these findings, this research produces a concept for developing a PBL-based folklore textbook designed to facilitate more interactive and meaningful learning. It is hoped that the textbook being developed can enrich students' understanding of folklore and provide practical skills that are relevant to the professional world.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the language skills that students must master in their learning. One of them is the skill of writing fantasy texts. Learning to write, especially writing fantasy stories, is a skill that aims to tell, describe, or imagine various actions, experiences, and events in the form of wishful thinking, fantasy, imagination, and mere fiction. The aim of this research is to analyze students' fantasy text writing skills which include (1) the structure of a fantasy story consisting of orientation, complication and resolution and (2) the linguistic elements of fantasy consisting of the use of personal pronouns, the use of time sequence conjunctions, the use of words/phrases surprise, and the use of direct dialogue/sentences in the story. The object of this research is the text structure and linguistic elements in fantasy texts created by students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using descriptive methods. The results obtained in this research were 24 students writing texts, but only 17 of them could be categorized as fantasy texts. From the 17 samples analyzed, it can be concluded that students have been able to write a good fantasy story structure consisting of 17 data orientations, 17 data complications and 17 data resolutions; and the use of personal pronouns is 282 data, the use of time sequence conjunctions is 72 data, the use of words/expressions of surprise is 25 data, and the use of dialogue/direct sentences in stories is 68 data.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see how outdoor learning impacts the learning outcomes of social responsibility in environmental care among students of the Nautical Study Program at the West Sumatra Shipping Polytechnic. The research was conducted using a pre-test and post-test design. The research instrument is a test that evaluates the learning outcomes of social responsibility, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The content validity test of this learning outcome test instrument received a high validity score when evaluated for content validity by experts at a maritime institution, with a content validity score of 3.7 and an A category rating. The results of the normality test using the Wilcoxon test show that in the experimental group, all participants experienced an increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores, with an average of 15.50 and a total of 465, indicating a significant change. In the control group, 27 participants experienced an increase in scores, but only 3 participants had the same score between the pre-test and post-test, with an average of 14.00 and a total of 378. The output of the statistical test shows that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000, which is less than 0.05, allowing us to conclude that the hypothesis is accepted, meaning there is a difference in learning outcomes using the outdoor learning method between the Pre-test and Post-test. The effectiveness test of the instrument shows that the test questions have a balanced level of difficulty and adequate discriminatory power. The instrument is effective because the N-Gain percentage is 73.54%, and the reliability test using the pre-test and post-test methods and inter-rater reliability found a t-value of -1.7162, indicating good consistency. The research results show that outdoor learning significantly improves the learning outcomes of social responsibility towards the maritime environment for Nautical Studies students.

Abstract

This article examines the activities of Ratib Saman during grave pilgrimages in the Tanjung Pauh Mudik community, Kerinci Regency as well as the pilgrim's motives in the Grave Pilgrimage Tradition in Talang Berdoa (Cemetery Land). The tradition of visiting graves is a tradition that has existed for a long time, there are even indications that this tradition existed before the arrival of Islam. Even though eras and times have changed, the tradition of grave pilgrimage has not been eroded by the times, the interest and intention of pilgrims to visit existing graves continues and is even getting busier. The method used in this research is field research with a qualitative-descriptive approach, data collection tools are participant observation, interviews and document study. The results of the research show that people's motivation for carrying out ratib saman during grave pilgrimages is because it has the meaning and symbol of praying for the spirits of family members who have died. Apart from that, ratib saman is also a custom passed down from generations to generations which must be preserved as local wisdom of the people of Tanjung Pauh Mudik, Kerinci Regency.

Abstract

The development and advancement of science and technology in the current decade continues to change. One of them is the cultural changes that exist in society. This research tries to examine the culture of “mairiak” as a reference for literary, customary, and social values that exist in the community. The purpose of this research is to search and try to find the cultural value of “Mairiak” which is a reference to literary, customary and social values in the community. The method and type of this research is qualitative research using informants, field presence, and literature study. The informants of this research are people who carry out “mairiak” cultural activities, the author is directly present in the field, and literature studies where the author seeks information in accordance with this research problem in the form of journals, theses, theses, or dissertations and books that have a relationship with this research. In this research, the author limits the problem to the culture of “mairiak” as a reference for literary, customary, and social values. The findings of this research explain the existence of literary, customary, and social values in the community

Abstract

This study describes the background of social criticism in Fahd Djibran's novel Tak Sempurna using a sociology of literature review. The author's interest in the science of social criticism, in this case, the sociology of literature related to social life in educational issues that exist in Indonesian society. The social life of society written in the literary work of the novel is what the author wants to reveal in this study. The purpose of this study is to reveal the social criticism contained in the novel Tak Sempurna by Fahd Djibran with a literary sociology approach, especially the sociology of literary works.describing social attitudes and social behavior in the novel. This research uses the hermeneutic or interpretation method. The object of this research is the novel Tak sempurna by Fahd Djibran.Published in 2013, by the publisher Kurniaesa Publishing, published in Yogyakarta.The focus of this research is social criticism in the novel Tak Sempurna by Fahd Djibran with a review of literary sociology, which looks in terms of social attitudes and social behavior in the novel.Then it can be understood that the data of this study were collected descriptively.Data analysis techniques in the application of the interpretation method, researchers emphasize the hermeneutics developed by Paul Ricoeur.

Abstract

This research discusses the greeting words of the Melayu community of Muara Musu Village, Rambah Hilir District, Rokan Hulu Regency. This research occurs because most children today do not know what greetings to say to others. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of this research is to describe the form of greeting words of the Melayu community of Muara Musu Village. The data of this research is the speech of the community in reprimanding or greeting others in the daily life of the Malay community of Muara Musu Village. The data was found from the community directly when the community said hello and from informants. The results of this study found 53 data of greeting words. Pronouns, proper names, kinship terms, titles and ranks, pe + v forms, N forms, deixis words or clues, nominals, and zero or zero features. The most common greeting words found are kinship greetings and the least are deixis or clue words. The use of greeting words is to show respect to the interlocutor when greeting or speaking. The conclusion of this research is that the use of greeting words is important in our lives because it shows politeness in speaking.

Abstract

Language is a very important factor in everyday life. Language as a complement in communicating with the opposite sex both in groups and individually. Communication can be established when a speaker interacts with his interlocutor in community life. Language also plays the most important role in developing social media. In the application of social media, language is used as a form of communication and conveying data. This makes spoken language used to speak directly can become written language. Therefore, the use of written language with a sarcastic style of language arises. One way of communicating that often occurs and is often used by society is sarcasm, which expresses ideas or opinions through various forms of expression containing satire, criticism and ridicule. Sarcasm often occurs in community life. One of them is the use of sarcasm on Instagram accounts, precisely in the comments column. The purpose of this study was to describe the form of netizen sarcastic language in the comments of the virgoun Instagram account. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Based on the results of the research conducted, the netizens' sarcastic language in Virgoun's Instagram account comments found 116 data in the form of words, phrases, clauses and sentences.

Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of code mixing in digital platforms such as Youtube. Code mixing is the mixing of two or more languages in one conversation. This study analyzes video content from the Youtube channel Ristawardi Channel. The purpose of this study is as a linguistic strategy for clarity and expression and reflects cultural identity and social dynamics among speakers. Data were found based on observations and listening to video lectures from the Youtube channel Ristawardi Channel. The results of this study found 50 data on code mixing forms consisting of words, phrases, and clauses. The most common form of code mixing found is clauses. The clause form is widely used when mixing Indonesian and Minang languages. The conclusion of this study is to develop a broader understanding of language use in the context of modern communication and the implications of globalization on linguistics.
