Abstract

This research aims to analyze teachers’ social skills in creating a positive learning environment in the digital era. This research uses qualitative methodology through a literature review approach. The results of this research show that social competence is the ability to interact effectively, understand other people’s feelings, communicate effectively, and show empathy. A person’s ability to interact and communicate well with other people with the aim of building harmonious relationships and supporting social development within a group is known as social competence in creating a positive environment. Therefore, it is important for individuals to improve their social skills. This improvement can be achieved through a variety of means, including training, self-development, and professional experience. Individuals contribute to building a supportive and uplifting environment in the digital era

Abstract

Interference in the WhatsApp group of Indonesian Language and Literature education students class of 2021 is still often found. This happens so that the writing looks more slangy or even less careful in writing correct Indonesian. However, this causes errors in the real sense, namely interference. Interference can be interpreted as an error that occurs due to the use of two different language codes. This research examines interference because not all Indonesian language and literature education students use Indonesian properly and correctly via the WhatsApp application. The aim of this research is to describe the interference contained in the WhatsApp group of Indonesian Language and Literature Education students class of 2021. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The results of this research found 35 interference data with morphological forms. It can be concluded that the 2021 class of PBSI students lack accuracy in writing good and correct Indonesian so that in their use there are many changes, deletions and additions of phonemes. So to reduce the interference that occurs, Indonesian Language and Literature Education students class of 2021 at Rokania University need to understand and be precise in writing correct Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to describe eight types of emotions in children based on Goleman’s theory : anger, sadness, fear, enjoyment, love, surprise, shame. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through voice recodings of the child’s verbal expressions and analyzed comprehensively. The findings indicate that the child’s verbal expressions are influenced by specific situations, social interactions, parenting styles and the surrounding environment. The child expresses emotions through speech patterns such as tone, intonation, and word repetition. Fear was identified as the most frequently expressed emotion, while enjoyment was the least expressed. This study highlights the crucial role of parents and caregivers in helping children manage their emotions through emotional support and a conducive environment. By understanding how children express their emotions, parents can more effectively guide them in managing their feelings positively, ultimately fostering emotional development within diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the politeness in netizens' language within comments on the Instagram account of artist NW. The study employs Leech's (1983) politeness principles, which include seven maxims: tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, sympathy, and consideration. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected from netizen comments on NW's Instagram posts throughout 2024. The analysis revealed that the approbation maxim dominated (23 data points) compared to other maxims, such as sympathy (10 data points), agreement (4 data points), and tact, generosity, and modesty, which each had 1 data point, while the consideration maxim was not found. The dominance of the approbation maxim is attributed to Instagram's nature as a platform that encourages expressions of admiration and NW's positive image as a public figure. This study highlights the importance of politeness in language use during social media interactions to foster harmonious communication and reflect social norms. Furthermore, it provides insights into the influence of Indonesian cultural politeness norms in digital spaces. By understanding politeness principles, it is expected that netizens can communicate more ethically and effectively on social media.

Abstract

Students' collaboration skills are very important to support the 21st century skills of future students. Students can show a good attitude of working together in solving problems, working according to roles, working together in effective time, and providing appropriate assistance between team members. The collaboration skills referred to in this study consist of 13 sub-indicators that are well explained. The purpose of this study was to determine the achievement of student collaboration skills by using virtual simulation in the form of phet simulation in ohm law practicum activities. The instrument used is a performance assessment sheet of collaboration skills based on a clear performance assessment rubric. The method used is descriptive method with quantitative approach. The results showed that the average achievement of student collaboration skills was 84% in the good category. The results showed that of the 13 indicators of collaboration skills, there were 3 indicators whose achievements were very good, namely students being able to divide their group work fairly, students being able to help team members in solving problems, and students being able to solve problems without involving lecturers.

Abstract

Depression among college students has become a significant mental health issue, with an average prevalence reaching 30.6%. This study aims to comprehensively examine the phenomenon of depression among college students, its impacts, and effective prevention and intervention strategies. Using a systematic review method, this study analyzes literature from databases such as PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar. The results show that depression in college students seriously affects academic performance, social interactions, substance abuse, sleep disorders, and the risk of suicide. Various effective interventions have been identified, including cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnofivesics, logotherapy, empathy interventions, physical activity, and, in certain cases, drug therapy. A holistic approach combining psychological therapy, spiritual aspects, and social support is considered most effective. This study highlights the importance of mental health awareness, access to mental health services on campus, and the active role of educational institutions in supporting students' mental well-being. Suggestions for future research include longitudinal studies and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions in diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are one of the learning objectives in mathematics that are highly expected to develop and improve. However, in reality, the communication skills of eighth-grade students are low. Based on the observations made, it can be concluded that the learning model used has not been able to activate students in the learning process, resulting in students' mathematical communication skills remaining low. One of learning model that can develop students' mathematical communication skills is the cooperative learning model Think Talk Write (TTW). The purpose of this study is to determine whether the cooperative learning model Think Talk Write (TTW) can improve students' mathematical communication skills. Type of research is experimental with a Randomized Subjects Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population in this study is the eighth-grade students. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that The Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative learning model better than students' mathematical communication skills with conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of transformational leadership by the principal and teachers at MTs Muhammadiyah Tanjung Ampalu and its impact on the character development of students. Transformational leadership, which focuses on inspiration, individual attention, and setting a good example, is believed to enhance student motivation and discipline, as well as strengthen the development of students' character in accordance with Islamic values. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, where data is collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations of the principal, teachers, and students. The results indicate that the implementation of transformational leadership at MTs Muhammadiyah Tanjung Ampalu has had a positive impact on character development, improving student discipline, motivation, and active participation in religious and social activities. Positive interactions between teachers and students, supported by inspiring leadership, create an environment conducive to the moral and spiritual development of students. Thus, this study emphasizes that transformational leadership plays a crucial role in improving the quality of education and the character development of students in Islamic schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa permasalahan dalam pembelajaran membaca cerpen di sekolah. Pertama, banyak siswa kurang mampu menemukan gagasan pokok dan detail penting dalam cerpen sehingga pemahaman mereka terhadap isi teks masih rendah. Kedua, siswa cenderung hanya membaca sekilas tanpa strategi membaca yang terarah, sehingga makna yang diperoleh tidak mendalam. Ketiga, dalam proses pembelajaran, guru belum secara optimal menggunakan metode membaca yang sistematis untuk membantu siswa memahami teks secara bertahap. Kondisi ini menyebabkan keterampilan membaca cerpen siswa belum berkembang secara maksimal. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan efektivitas penggunaan metode PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize, Test) terhadap keterampilan membaca cerpen siswa kelas XI SMA Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini adalah one grup pretest-postterst design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Padang. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Padang yang berjumlah 27 orang. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah skor menggunakan metode PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize, Test) pada siswa kelas XI SMA Padang. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut ini. Pertama, keterampilan membaca cerpen sesudah menggunakan metode PQRST siswa kelas XI Padang memperoleh nilai rata-rata 86,00 dengan klasifikasi 86-95% yaitu baik sekali (BS). Dengan kata lain, integrasi penggunaan metode PQRST terhadap keterampilan membaca cerpen siswa kelas XI SMA Padang cukup bagus dan mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak penambangan batu mineral yang dilakukan oleh PT. Sumatera Sumber Mineral (SSM) terhadap kondisi sosial, ekonomi, dan lingkungan masyarakat di Nagari Tanjung Bonai, Kecamatan Lintau Buo Utara. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 20 orang yaitu Wali Jorong, Tokoh Pemuda, Pekerja Tambang batu mineral, dan Masyarakat Sekitarnya. Jenis data yang diperlukan yaitu Jenis data Primer dan Sekunder yang diambil dengan teknik Purposive Sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan dengan teknik Observasi, Wawancara, dan Dokumentasi. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu Tahap Reduksi Data, Tahap Penyajian Data, dan Tahap Penarikan Kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara sosial, kegiatan penambangan mempengaruhi pola interaksi masyarakat, di mana terjadi perubahan dalam struktur sosial akibat adanya migrasi tenaga kerja dan peningkatan ketegangan sosial. Dari segi ekonomi, penambangan batu mineral memberikan peluang pekerjaan dan peningkatan pendapatan bagi sebagian warga, namun juga menyebabkan ketimpangan ekonomi antara kelompok masyarakat. Dampak lingkungan yang ditemukan meliputi kerusakan ekosistem, serta peningkatan polusi udara dan air yang memengaruhi kualitas hidup masyarakat sekitar. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar pemerintah dan perusahaan penambangan lebih memperhatikan aspek keberlanjutan dan keseimbangan antara pertumbuhan ekonomi dan kelestarian lingkungan, serta memastikan kesejahteraan sosial masyarakat di sekitar area penambangan.
