Abstract

This study will examine the accessibility of the Amazon Influencer Terms and Conditions by analyzing some of the semantic ambiguities in the document and how those ambiguities influence the influencer's awareness of rights and obligations. Digital marketing, or influencer marketing in particular, has become a regular way of conducting business in an online world, but the language in those contracts is often still unclear and complicated, especially for someone without a legal background. This study employs qualitative textual analysis, based on semantic theory, in order to uncover lexical, modal, syntactic, and referential ambiguities in the contract. The study found many examples of ambiguity, including vague terms such as “reasonable” and the unexpected use of modal verbs “may” in politically important phrases, which leaves the influencer confused about their duties and the authority of the platform. These uncertainties could make the transparency worse, and consequently can destroy the balance in the relationship between Amazon and its partners. The investigation also emphasizes the need for the usage of clear and simple language and one terminology due to the high level of influence and fair precision in influencer contracts. It is recommended to enhance the functionality of providing full explanations to help readers to be able easier to understand some of the concepts, identical or similar occurrences of modal verbs in legal documents that were intended to act as a legally binding document, and usability testing to identify the readability problems of non-legal readers.

Abstract

This study explores the preferences of Generation Z for English learning media and the factors influencing these preferences. Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, demonstrates a strong inclination toward modern digital platforms such as social media, video streaming services, and learning apps like Duolingo, which offer flexibility, interactivity, and visually appealing content. The study employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys of 77 respondents aged 15–25 years and qualitative interviews with four participants. Key findings reveal that ease of access, visual appeal, and relevance to personal interests significantly influence Gen Z’s media choices. Challenges include distractions, short attention spans, and a lack of motivation in self-directed learning. The findings highlight the importance of designing media that aligns with Gen Z’s learning styles, incorporating interactive and gamified elements to enhance engagement and learning outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for educators and developers to optimize digital media for effective English learning

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the implementation of the Role Play method in improving students’ speaking skills at the eighth grade of UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan. The study was conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The speaking skill indicators evaluated included pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. In Cycle I, most students did not meet the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 75%. Only two students (7.5%) achieved the “good” category, eight students (30%) were in the “sufficient” category, while seventeen students (63%) remained in the “poor” category. These results indicated that students faced difficulties in speaking due to limited practice, lack of confidence, and challenges in pronunciation. The researcher addressed these issues by providing targeted pronunciation practice and encouraging students to prepare more thoroughly. Significant improvement was observed in Cycle II. The Role Play method enhanced student engagement and reduced anxiety, resulting in better speaking performance. Five students (19%) reached the “very good” category, twenty-one students (75%) were categorized as “good,” and only two students (7.5%) remained in the “sufficient” level. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the Role Play method effectively improved students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

English speaking ability is an important skill in foreign language learning, yet many students still show low levels of confidence in speaking, especially in course institutions such as Zain Academy. One of the factors thought to influence students' confidence is their perception of teachers' professional identity, which includes pedagogical competence, interpersonal relationships and affective support. This study aims to find out the relationship between students' perceptions of teachers' professional identity and their level of confidence in speaking English. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 16 Zain Academy students who had attended at least one semester of study. Data were analysed through Pearson correlation test and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between students' perceptions of teachers' professional identity and their confidence in speaking English, with a correlation value of r = 0.548 and a significance of p = 0.028. The regression test results showed that students' perceptions of teachers' professional identity contributed 30% to the variation in students' self-confidence (R Square = 0.300). This finding supports the theory that perceptions of teacher professionalism play a role in building students' motivation and self-confidence in language learning contexts. The conclusion of this study is that positive perceptions of teachers' professional identity can increase students' confidence in speaking English. Therefore, it is recommended that non-formal education institutions provide training for teachers to develop comprehensive professional qualities, and involve affective and interpersonal aspects to create a learning environment that supports students' courage in communicating.

Abstract

PAUD (Early Childhood Teacher Education) Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University—students who are not from an English education background. A quantitative descriptive method was used, involving a total population of 163 students from the 4th and 6th semesters who had completed English courses. Data were collected using the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) version 7.0 by Oxford (1990), which categorizes strategies into memory, cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective, and social. The findings revealed that the most frequently used strategies were metacognitive, memory, and affective, indicating strong internal motivation, reflection, and emotional regulation. Meanwhile, cognitive, compensation, and social strategies were moderately applied. The results suggest that PG-PAUD students predominantly rely on internal, self-directed strategies to learn English, while social interaction and adaptive communication strategies are less frequently employed. These findings contribute to the understanding of English learning among non-English majors and highlight the importance of promoting balanced strategy use in language instructionThis study aims to explore the English language learning strategies employed by students of the PG-

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of using flashcards integrated with the traditional game engklek to improve English vocabulary mastery among seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Falah, Tuban. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (Nonequivalent Control Group Design) was employed. The sample included two classes: the experimental group (VII A), which received instruction using flashcards and the engklek game, and the control group (VII D), which received conventional instruction. Pretests and posttests were used as the primary instruments. The results revealed a significant improvement in the posttest scores of students in the experimental group compared to the control group. The paired samples t-test showed a significant value (p < 0.001) and a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.85). These findings indicate that a learning method combining traditional games and visual media is effective in enhancing vocabulary mastery, while also increasing student motivation and engagement. This approach is also suitable for schools with limited digital resources, particularly in rural areas.
