This study explained the Li Niha Maintenance among Teenagers of OrahuaMahasiswaNias (OMN) Medan in Kelurahan Lauci Medan Tuntungan. The objectives were (1) to investigate what maintenance of Li Niha is preserved by the Nias teenagers of OMN Medan (2)to describe how is the Li Niha maintained by the Nias teenagers of OMN Medan (3) to explain the reason why is the Li Niha maintained by the Nias teenagers of OMN Medan. This study applied phenomenological design as a part of qualitative research design. Data were words or utterances of 20 persons teenager of OMN Medan collected through observation and interview techniques. The data were analyzed by using Bogdan & Biklen, (1992). The findings of this study showed that: (1) four types of Li Niha maintenance preserved by the teenagers of OMN Medan namely strong, dominant, moderate and weak maintenance; (2) four ways of Li Niha maintained by Nias teenagers of OMNMedan,; and (3) five reasons the teenagers of Orahua Mahasiswa Nias (OMN) Medan in Kelurahan Lauci Medan Tuntungan maintain Li Niha. Increasing The Students’ Ability In Speaking English By Using Work In Pair Strategy Riswan Zega; Destina Adventri Hulu

This research aimed to increase the students’ ability in speaking by using Work in Pair strategy at the grade VII class B of SMP Swasta St. Theresia Lahewa. In this research the researcher applied the Classroom Action Research with some stages namely planning, observation, action and reflection. It has been conducted in SMP Swasta St. Theresia Lahewa at the grade VII, class B, consisted 30 students. This research has been applied in two cycles because in the first cycle the students still did not pass Minimum Competence Criteria (MCC), 75. The instrument of data colection were observation sheets, fieldnote, and test by video recording. After analyzing the data, the result showed in Cycle I there were 6 students (20%) who got mark in renge 40-59. They were classified in low level. Then 21 students (70%) got mark in range 60-74. They were classified in adequate level. And then 3 (10%) students who got mark in range 75-84 classified in good level. The average of students’ mark was 55 while the highest mark was 76 and the lowest mark was 41. Then in Cycle II there were 21 students (80%) who got the mark in range 75-84, were classified as good level and 6 (20%) got mark in range 85-100, were classified in high level. The average of students’ mark was 80. Then, the highest mark was 90 and the lowest was 76. It can be concluded that Work in Pair strategy increased the students’ ability in speaking English.

Collaborative Strategy is a learning model used by teachers in the teaching and learning process in groups. Collaborative Strategy can help students to interact with their friends in reading comprehension. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of Collaborative Strategy in teaching students' reading comprehension. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach, which is a research method used to search on natural object conditions. The research instruments used were Lesson Plan, Observation Sheet, Field Notes, Students' Worksheet, and Transcript Interview. The results showed that the implementation of Collaborative Strategy in teaching students' reading comprehension ran well. It was proven that when doing collaborative students the interacted with fellow friends. For students' comprehension level, students in class X TKJ 2 at SMK Negeri 1 Sitolu Ori are at the literal meaning level with the result that 80% of the answers at this level. The results of Collaborative Strategy implementation challenges were decoding 38% with 8 students, fluency 9% with 2 students, vocabulary 24% with 5 students, sentence construction and cohesion 9% with 2 students, reasoning and background knowledge 10% with 2 students, working memory and attention 10% with 2 students.

Penilaian autentik merupakan penilaian yang dapat digunakan untuk mengukur hasil belajar siswa pada aspek pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan. Kenyataannya, dalam penerapan penilaian autentik dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris oleh Guru Bahasa Inggris kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi, masih terdapat kendala dalam penerapannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan penilaian autentik, untuk mengetahui jenis penilaian autentik yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris, dan untuk mengetahui masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam menerapkan penilaian autentik di kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi pada tahun 2022/2023. Dalam melakukan penelitian, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi kemudian dianalisis datanya dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Setelah dilakukan analisis, hasil penelitian ini adalah: penerapan penilaian autentik pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi belum sepenuhnya terlaksana dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris melakukan penilaian autentik sejalan dengan proses pelaksanaan penilaian autentik dengan persentase 80% dan 60%. Kemudian, ada beberapa jenis penilaian autentik yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris, yaitu: penilaian tertulis, penilaian wawancara lisan, observasi, dan penilaian kinerja. Selain itu, guru bahasa Inggris memiliki beberapa kendala dalam menerapkan penilaian autentik, seperti kondisi dan situasi yang berbeda serta waktu yang terbatas.

Writing descriptive is the activity to give an information to the other, which aims to describe things, people, places. Adjective order is included as the language feature on descriptive text material. Qualitative research method is the method that was used for this research. The focuses of this research was to find out the studentsâ€™ ability in ordering adjective on descriptive text material and to determine the factors affecting the studentsâ€™ ability in ordering adjective on descriptive text material. Furthermore, the informant of the research were 21 students of Class VII-C of UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Utara in 2022/2023. Then, the studentsâ€™ worksheet and the interview sheets were the instruments that were used for the research. Based on the instrument, it was found that the studentsâ€™ average got the score very poor (52%) and followed by poor score (48%), and no one of the students who achieved good or excellent score in ordering adjective. Furthermore, the factors of the studentsâ€™ ability were caused by two factors, namely: factor of lacking of knowledge, and factor of lacking of vocabulary. After conducting the analysis, the ability of the students in class VII-C of UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Utara in ordering adjective were low. Then the factor influence the studentsâ€™ ability in ordering adjective were lacking of knowledge and lacking of vocabulary. The teacherâ€™s action is important to the students in increasing the studentsâ€™ knowledge in learning English, particularly in adjective order.

The Kampus Mengajar program has become an important initiative to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the impact of the Kampus Mengajar Batch 7 program on the literacy and numeracy skills of 8th grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tuhemberua, North Nias Regency. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The 8th grade students consisted of 108 students, so the study population was all 8th grade students, while the sample was only 30 students. The researchers collected data using test techniques, then analyzed the data with descriptive statistics. The results showed that students' literacy and numeracy skills increased significantly after a series of Kampus Mengajar Batch 7 activities were carried out, where the average literacy score increased from 38.17 in the pretest to 55.83 in the posttest, and the numeracy score increased from 16.83 in the pretest to 64.17 in the posttest. This program also provides students with direct community service experience. However, collaboration between students and schools needs to be strengthened to ensure the sustainability of the program. Future research is expected to include more schools and more detailed factors to measure the success of this Teaching Campus program as a whole.

Reading is a process that starts with word recognition, progresses to comprehension, and involves the reader and the text negotiating meaning. The aim of the study was to improve the reading comprehension skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Selatan in 2023–2024 by implementing the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) program. Two Stay Two Stray is the strategy that give opportunities for students to share the information with other learning groups in classroom activities. Some students of the eighth grade could not comprehend the particular descriptive text in the form of identifing the generic structure of reading comprehension especially in descriptive text, and the students were unable to understand the language features of reading comprehension especially descriptive text.In this research, Classroom Action Research (CAR) were applied by the researcher, that has devided into two cycles and two meetings for each. In the first cycle the students skills in reading comprehension were not satisfying due to the students level of “very fail and less level” moreover, the teaching enviromentalin learning process under the ideal condition, in cycle two the condition of teaching learning process were very good, so the result is satisfying. Scores ranged from 65 to 85, with 85 being the highest possible. Furthermore, the lowest possible score was 65 while the average for students in Cycle II was 85. Moreover, Cycle II students' average score was 72.The Two Stay Two Stray Strategy can improve pupils' reading comprehension skills, according on the researcher's analysis of the research findings.

Reading ability in English has been an essential skill for high school students, yet many students have experienced difficulties in comprehending English texts effectively. One factor suspected to be the cause of this problem was the students’ lack of ability to monitor their reading process. This research aimed to describe the monitoring in reading on students' English reading materials and to identify the dominant components in students' reading monitoring. The research was conducted at SMA Swasta Santu Xaverius Gunungsitoli used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations and interviews with 36 tenth-grade students. The results showed that students applied three main components in reading monitoring: Comprehension Monitoring, Metacognitive Monitoring, and Comprehension Evaluation. Monitoring Comprehension emerged as the most dominant strategy that students reported using. The most frequently used strategies were rereading difficult passages, underlining important passages, and taking notes. Metacognitive monitoring was reported by students, with a focus on identifying difficulties in texts and reflecting on reading content. Comprehension Evaluation was used by students, particularly in answering text-related questions and identifying main ideas. In conclusion, most students have demonstrated good awareness of their reading process and have actively used various strategies to improve their comprehension of English texts. However, there is still room for improvement, especially in the aspects of metacognitive monitoring and the use of more complex strategies.

The performance of school principal in managing human resources involves efforts to develop and utilize the potential of teaching and educational staff effectively to achieve educational goals. This research aimed to analyze the performance of the principal in managing human resources and the principal's efforts in improving the skills of English teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara. The research method used was a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through direct observation and structured interviews with the school principal and two teachers. The research results showed that school principal demonstrated good managerial competence in three main aspects: leadership, management of teacher and staff human resources, student management. The principal was success in leading meetings effectively, providing clear direction, and motivating teachers and staff for professional development. In managing human resources, school principal routinely carry out performance assessments, prepared efficient work schedules, and encouraged staff participation in decision making. In the field of student management, the principal was success in managing the admission of new students, placing students according to their abilities, and apart from that, the principal also provided teachers' needs such as books, dictionaries and moreover the principal gives teachers the freedom to increase their potential independently and also implemented MGMP (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran) as an effort to improve the skills of English teachers. The school principal demonstrated strong leadership, effective human resource management, and successful student management.
