Abstract

Competition anxiety is a major psychological challenge often experienced by young athletes, especially in precision sports such as petanque, which require high levels of concentration and emotional stability. The inability to manage anxiety can interfere with performance, while mental toughness acts as a protective factor in dealing with competitive pressure. This study aims to diagnose the mental toughness and competition anxiety profiles of BK Porprov Garut 2025 petanque athletes and analyze the relationship between these two variables. The approach used is quantitative with a descriptive-correlational method. The research sample consisted of 16 athletes selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were mental toughness (14 items) and competition anxiety (15 items) questionnaires compiled based on the Likert scale. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and Pearson's Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that most athletes had moderate mental toughness (43.8%) and high competition anxiety (56.7%). The correlation test yielded a value of r = -0.692 with a significance of 0.001, which means that there is a strong and significant negative relationship between mental toughness and competition anxiety. The conclusion of this study confirms that increased mental toughness is associated with a decrease in competitive anxiety in adolescent athletes.

Abstract

Low physical activity among elementary school children has become a critical public health issue, exacerbated by sedentary lifestyles and rising obesity rates. Conventional physical education is considered ineffective in fostering sustainable active habits. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of integrating the Practice Style teaching method with the concept of Physical Literacy in increasing students' physical activity. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 100 third- and fourth-grade students from SD Negeri 5 Sungai Ulin, divided into an experimental group (receiving integrated learning) and a control group (conventional learning). The intervention lasted 8 weeks. Physical activity data were collected using the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children (PAQ-C) and analyzed using t-tests and effect size calculations. The results showed a very significant increase in the experimental group (average increase of 8.36 points; p < 0.001; Cohen's d = 1.21), while the control group did not experience any significant changes. The conclusion of the study proves that the integration of Practice Style and Physical Literacy is significantly more effective in increasing students' physical activity than the conventional approach.

Abstract

The effectiveness of gradually administering isotonic drinks for post-exercise cardiovascular recovery has not been empirically proven compared to consuming mineral water. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of administering isotonic drinks at 5 different times compared to mineral water on heart rate recovery and aerobic capacity Vo₂max after 30 minutes of running. The research method used a quantitative true experiment design with a pretest-posttest control group involving 150 students divided into an experimental group 75 and a control group 75. Fluid intervention was administered according to a gradual protocol during the 30-minute running session. Resting heart rate and VO₂max were estimated using a 12-minute Cooper running test measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired and independent sample T-tests. The results showed that the isotonic group experienced a significantly greater decrease in resting heart rate (-6.9±3.5 bpm) than the mineral water group (-4.3±3.1 bpm) with p=0.006. Heart rate recovery analysis confirmed a faster recovery pattern in the isotonic group. There was no significant difference in Vo₂max improvement between groups (p=0.081). The conclusion of this study proves that gradual administration of isotonic drinks is more effective than mineral water in accelerating cardiovascular recovery after a 30-minute run,

Abstract

Background Coaches play a crucial role in guiding athletes to reach their full potential through effective communication and instruction. The quality and clarity of coach instruction significantly impact athletes' understanding of the training program, their motivation, and overall performance outcomes. Objectives This study aimed to explore the importance of coach instruction in training programs and examine how instructional strategies contribute to athletes' achievement of training goals. This study also identified key factors influencing the effectiveness of coach instruction, including the ability to convey information clearly, provide individualized guidance, and enhance athlete motivation. Methods This study used a quantitative descriptive design by collecting and analyzing descriptive data. A total of 146 athletes participated in this study. Data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. A quantitative descriptive method was used to identify factors influencing the effectiveness of coach instruction and to describe patterns and trends in the collected data. Results The findings showed that 62.5% of athletes agreed and 31.3% strongly agreed that the coach successfully delivered the training program, while 6.3% disagreed and none strongly disagreed. Similarly, regarding the coach's delivery of instructions, 62.5% agreed, 31.3% strongly agreed, 6.3% disagreed, and 0% strongly disagreed. However, when the coach gave very strict instructions, 37.5% agreed, 12.5% strongly agreed, 43.8% disagreed, and 6.3% strongly disagreed, indicating mixed perceptions of an overly rigid coaching style.            Research shows that clear and supportive coaching instructions have a positive impact on athlete performance and motivation. However, overly strict coaching instructions can reduce athlete effectiveness and satisfaction. Coaches must balance firmness and encouragement to optimize training outcomes.

Abstract

Problems in this research: Despite being normatively guaranteed by Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sports, the implementation of legal protection for athletes' rights during the post-career period at the regional level still faces significant challenges. This study examines the gap between the legal framework and empirical reality in East Kalimantan Province, focusing on the effectiveness of social security and welfare for retired athletes. This study aims to analyze the implementation of legal protection for post-career athletes in East Kalimantan, identify inhibiting factors, and formulate contextual policy recommendations to strengthen the athlete social protection system. The research method uses a socio-legal approach with a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through analysis of legal documents (Law No. 11/2022, Law No. 24/2011, East Kalimantan Regional Regulation No. 5/2016), in-depth interviews with five retired athletes and eight institutional informants (Dispora, KONI, legal practitioners), and field observations. Data were analyzed thematically to integrate normative and empirical findings. The findings reveal systemic failures in implementation. The ambitious legal framework is not accompanied by operational mechanisms at the regional level. Institutional fragmentation between the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora), the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), and the Social Security Agency (BPJS) has created a vacuum of responsibility, shifting the legal rights paradigm to incidental charitable assistance. Low legal literacy among athletes and the absence of a unified database further exacerbate this situation. This study concludes that legal protection for post-career athletes in East Kalimantan remains theoretical and ineffective. Comprehensive reforms are needed, including revisions to regional regulations, the establishment of strong institutional coordination mechanisms, and legal empowerment programs for athletes to transform normative rights into accessible realities.

Abstract

Excessive use of digital devices among elementary school children is a worrying problem because it has the potential to interfere with learning motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of screen time on the learning motivation of sixth grade students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design. The research sample consisted of 32 students determined by random sampling technique. Data collection used a Likert scale questionnaire to measure screen time and learning motivation. Data analysis was performed using Pearson's correlation test and multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that screen time had a significant negative effect on learning motivation. Weekday screen time was strongly negatively correlated with learning motivation (r = -0.81; p < 0.05), and weekend screen time showed an even stronger correlation (r = -0.86; p < 0.05). Regression tests revealed that every 1-hour increase in weekday screen time reduced learning motivation by 2.15 points, while weekend screen time reduced it by 3.08 points. Simultaneously, screen time contributed 79% to the variation in learning motivation. The conclusion of this study confirms that excessive screen time, especially on weekends, has a negative impact on the learning motivation of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that PJOK learning tends to be instructional and focused on technical skills, thus failing to develop students' deep understanding and critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the deep learning model in PJOK subjects at SMK PGRI Bungbulang. The method used was descriptive quantitative with 34 students selected through purposive sampling as subjects. The instrument consisted of a 46-item questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, grouped into eight dimensions of deep learning. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, and One-Sample T-Test hypothesis testing using SPSS version 25. The results showed that the implementation of deep learning in PJOK learning was in the high category with an average score of 193.03 (84.36%). All items had a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) with a t-value of 12.324 to 46.278. The Character and Learning Independence dimensions were the strongest contributors (Mean = 25.47; t = 16.891). The research conclusion proves that the implementation of deep learning has a very significant effect on PJOK learning, improving high-level cognitive aspects, active engagement, meaningful understanding, as well as students' character and learning independence. The deep learning model is effectively applied in PJOK to create a holistic and relevant learning experience.

Abstract

Energy transfer through the kinetic chain is a fundamental concept in explosive athletic movements. However, studies comparing the force transfer mechanisms between upper-limb and lower-limb movements, particularly in athletes in Eastern Indonesia, are still limited. This study aims to analyze and compare the biomechanical mechanisms of force transfer in the upper-lower limb kinetic chain through the Medicine Chest Pass (MCP) and Standing Broad Jump (SBJ) in SPOBNAS athletes in NTT Province. The study used a quantitative approach with a comparative and correlational design. A total of 18 athletes were divided into two groups: the MCP group (n=9) and the SBJ group (n=9). Data were collected through MCP and SBJ tests with three trials, and the best scores were recorded. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, independent t-test, and Pearson correlation test. The results showed a significant difference between MCP and SBJ scores (p < 0.05; Cohen's d = 0.95), indicating a difference in force transfer characteristics between the two movements. Correlation analysis showed a moderate and significant positive relationship between SBJ and MCP (r = 0.47; p < 0.05; r² = 0.22). It can be concluded that MCP and SBJ represent different but interrelated kinetic chain patterns.

Abstract

Modern soccer demands peak physical condition, particularly lower-body power to generate explosive jumps. Although crucial, the use of pyramid-style weight training is still rare among soccer athletes. Therefore, this study aims to examine the significant effects of each method (normal, reverse, and double pyramid) on improving leg power in soccer athletes, while also identifying differences in the effects among the three methods. This quantitative study adopted a true experimental approach using a Matched-Groups Pretest-Posttest Design. Using total sampling, 30 athletes from the Asa Bina Sejahtera 19 (ABS 19) youth soccer academy were enrolled and assigned to three treatment groups using a serpentine (S-shaped) randomization pattern. Lower-body power was measured via a vertical jump test before (pretest) and after (posttest) a 4-week intervention (2 sessions/week). Data analysis employed the Paired Sample T-Test and One-Way ANOVA. The results revealed that all three pyramid methods successfully produced a statistically significant effect on leg power improvement (Sig. < 0.05). However, the One-Way ANOVA indicated no significant difference in effect among the three methods (Sig. 0.14 > 0.05). In conclusion, all three pyramid methods had an equivalent effect on increasing lower-body power. Nevertheless, descriptively, the double pyramid method recorded the highest increase.

Abstract

Limited instructional equipment and low student engagement remain important barriers to effective volleyball instruction in physical education. This study examined changes in students’ learning activity, learning outcomes, and mastery status following the implementation of reused-tire learning media integrated with pedagogical improvements. A quantitative classroom action research design was conducted in two cycles involving 36 eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 01 Kalisat. Learning activity was assessed using a structured observation sheet comprising 10 indicators, while learning outcomes were measured through a 10-item multiple-choice test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk test, paired-samples t-tests, Cohen’s effect sizes, and the McNemar test with IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The mean learning activity score increased from 27.56 to 36.50, , , with a very large effect size (). The mean learning outcome score increased from 74.28 to 84.11, , , with a large effect size (). The proportion of students achieving mastery increased from 50.00% to 91.67%, with a significant change according to the McNemar test (). These findings indicate that reused-tire learning media, when integrated with clearer demonstrations, structured group management, repeated practice, motivation, and immediate feedback, can support more active, contextual, and affordable volleyball instruction.
