Abstract

This study aims to identify the difficulties faced by fourth grade students in sorting ordinary fractions based on conceptual tempo cognitive style, and also reveal the factors that can influence it. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with a focus on the individual characteristics of learners. Data obtained through interviews with classroom teachers and giving practice tests on fractions designed in accordance with the indicators of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. The results showed that students with reflective cognitive style are more likely to work on problems carefully and meticulously, but require a longer time. Conversely, learners with impulsive style can solve problems quickly but often make mistakes due to lack of accuracy. These findings indicate that the application of learning strategies that are tailored to the conceptual cognitive style of tempo can improve students' understanding and ability in fraction material. Therefore, it is important for teachers to consider students' cognitive style in designing an effective and adaptive learning style approach.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the number of students who have difficulty in understanding geometric transformation material, this can be seen from the low daily test results, lack of understanding of basic concepts, inability to solve varied problems, and difficulty in determining coordinates appropriately. One of the main factors causing these problems is the lack of use of interactive learning media that can actively involve students in the learning process, as well as the dominance of conventional learning methods. This research aims to develop interactive media with a geogebra-based website that is valid and practical. This research uses the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Data collection techniques include observation, interview, validation questionnaire, and practicality questionnaire. The validation questionnaire was analyzed using Aiken's V formula, while the practicality was analyzed using the practicality score. The developed media has been tested on students of class IX-A at SMPN 9 Mataram. The results showed that the interactive media with a geogebra-based website was included in the very valid category with a score of 84.5% and very practical with a score of 94.2%.

Abstract

students frequently perceive it as intimidating, monotonous, and challenging. Indonesian learners achieved merely 366 points in mathematics assessments, representing a decline from previous PISA evaluations between 2015-2018. This performance falls substantially below the standard range of 465-475 points, primarily due to widespread negative attitudes toward mathematics among students. Students' lack of enthusiasm for mathematical studies creates aversion and anxiety, hindering their learning experience. To combat these negative emotions, educators must implement engaging teaching strategies that promote comfort and relaxation during instruction. Ice-breaking techniques represent one effective approach, particularly when incorporating educational games that combine entertainment with learning objectives. Numeracy games offer an excellent ice-breaking method, allowing students to grasp fundamental mathematical principles while enjoying interactive activities. This research investigates how ice-breaker techniques using numeracy games enhance academic achievement among eighth-grade students. The study utilized a pre-experimental design with a single experimental group to evaluate the ice-breaker method's effectiveness on mathematics performance in class VIII.2 at SMP Negeri 2 Patampanua. Employing a quantitative experimental methodology, researchers conducted a one-group pretest-posttest analysis within the same classroom setting. Results demonstrate that ice-breaker strategies incorporating numeracy games significantly improve mathematics learning outcomes for students in the examined class, suggesting this approach effectively addresses traditional barriers to mathematical education

Abstract

This study aims to develop Augmented Reality (AR)-based mathematics learning media using the Assemblr Edu application on the material of spatial figures for grade V elementary schools. The background of this study is based on the low motivation and understanding of students towards abstract material, as well as the limited use of technology in learning at Wirosaban Elementary School. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model modified into three stages: define, design, and develop. The results of the media validation showed very good quality with a score from media experts of 93.3%, material experts 80%, and learning experts 81.6%. The practicality test also showed very good results, namely 98.3% from teachers and 92.7% from students. This media is considered feasible and practical to be used as an alternative innovative learning to improve students' understanding and motivation to learn in understanding the concept of spatial figures. This study shows that the integration of AR technology in learning can provide a more interactive, interesting, and relevant learning experience to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death due to infection by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can attack the lungs and other organs. Reducing TB rates is one of the main targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2023, Indonesia will be ranked second in the world for TB cases after India, with West Java Province as one of the main contributors experiencing a significant increase, namely 160,966 cases in the productive age group (≥15 years) and 50,993 cases in the children's group (0–14 years). This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the number of TB cases in West Java Province in the productive age group using the Geographically Weighted Negative Binomial Regression (GWNBR) method, which considers spatial aspects between regions and is able to handle overdispersion problems in count data. The six independent variables tested include population density, percentage of public places that meet health requirements, number of hospitals, percentage of the population who smoke, air quality index, and number of HIV sufferers. The modeling results using the GWNBR method with Fixed Kernel Gaussian weighting produced ten regional groups, each with different risk factor characteristics for the number of TB cases.
