Abstract

This study investigates the impact of transformational leadership on teachers' creativity at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Karawang Regency. Most teachers adhere to conventional teaching approaches and do not incorporate novel concepts or advancements, as evidenced by the 65% success rate. The data was analyzed using quantitative methodology, which included surveys and analytical techniques. The study found that transformational leadership significantly impacted teacher creativity. The T-Statistics values of 3.331 exceeded the critical T-table value of 1.699, and the P-Values of 0.000 were less than the significance level of 0.05. The research hypothesis states that transformational leadership positively affects teacher creativity in Karawang.

Abstract

This study analyses the diverse motives of educators entering the teaching profession and their impact on pedagogical decisions during high-stakes exams. Semi-structured interviews with eight participants (six male and two female teachers) from secondary schools in Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, lasted up to forty minutes. These interviews aimed to elicit insights into the participants' beliefs on their professional calling.Three key themes emerged from the interviews' thematic analysis: the trajectory of a teacher's personal history, the influential role of degree choice, and the weight of accountability. Furthermore, the findings highlighted how gender identity not only influenced the teachers but also echoed across their familial spheres, guiding them towards a profession in education. This investigation underlined the critical significance of cultural beliefs in developing educators' motivations, which serve as the foundation of their professional identity. As a result, this identification has a substantial impact on their pedagogical practises in the classroom, particularly when confronted with the demands imposed by high-stakes exams. This study sheds insight into the intricacies underpinning educators' decision-making processes, particularly in circumstances typified by rigorous assessments, by providing a comprehensive view of the delicate interplay between cultural factors, individual motives, and professional practice.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using Rolling Quiz Box media to improve students' critical thinking skills. The method in this research uses quantitative research of the Quasi Experiment type with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. In this design there are two study groups, namely the control class and the experimental class. At the beginning of the research, a pretest was given to see the students' initial understanding and a posttest was given after the treatment for the control class teaching without media and the experimental class teaching using Rolling Quiz Box media. The population and sample in this study were class III MIN 1 students in Medan City. From the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of Rolling Quiz Box media, education which influences students' critical thinking skills, has proven to be beneficial. This study shows a significant increase in academic performance, as evidenced by a fairly large increase in the posttest average of the control group to 64.79 and the experimental group, namely 81.67.

Abstract

Extracurricular history activities become a forum for students to deepen their understanding and awareness of history. The general problem studied in this research is how the implementation process of extracurricular history activities at SMAN 22 Bandung to the form of historical awareness of its student members carried out by coaches and mentors. In general, this research aims to describe the form of implementation of various extracurricular history activities named Komunitas Pecinta Sejarah (KOMPAS). The subjects in this research are the coaches and students who are members of the extracurricular history. This research was studied by applying the naturalistic inquiry method with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, documentation studies and literature studies. The data analysis technique carried out consists of three stages, namely data reduction, data display, and verification. Based on the results of the study, the History Lovers Community has a variety of educational-recreative activities carried out every week as a complement to existing intracurricular activities. The skills that are successfully developed are historical thinking and public speaking so that students are able to reconstruct historical events based on their imagination well. Strong historical thinking can increase historical awareness based on the close intertwining of students' historical emotional and intellectual elements.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a critical review of the technology-based educational supervision model and its implications for improving the quality of learning in the digital era. This model integrates conventional supervision concepts with digital technologies to provide more effective support to educators in the development of their teaching practices. In this study, we conducted an examining pertinent literature to pinpoint the effectiveness, challenges, and potential of technology-based educational supervision models. Positive implications of this model include greater accessibility to supervision and guidance for educators, flexibility of time and place, and increased efficiency in providing feedback. However, challenges such as inadequate technology infrastructure, security and data privacy concerns, and the absence of instruction in utilizing technology may hinder successful implementation.

Abstract

This study intends to explore Indonesian Senior High School learners’ second/foreign language (L2) Willingness to Communicate (WTC) in English. It employed a Google Form questionnaire as the method of collecting data. 159 L2 learners from more than six islands in Indonesia participated in this study. This study found that learners generally reported a moderate level of L2 WTC. They were moderately enthusiastic to speak in English class, moderately confident to use English in communication, and moderately willing to use English in small groups and pair work activities. However, seen from rather big standard deviations of the mean scores, the participants’ responses may be very heterogeneous, suggesting rather spread out values away from the mean scores. Pedagogical implications include promoting small-group activities and minimising whole-class discussions.

Abstract

This study investigated the multidimensional landscape of students' perceptions of mathematics learning using principal component analysis (PCA). Data were collected from 102 high school students (grades 9-12, mean age 16.2 years) in Indonesia. The survey, adapted from validated scales including the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitudes Scales and the Attitudes Towards Mathematics Inventory, assessed various aspects of mathematics learning perceptions. Analysis revealed fifteen initial components that were subsequently consolidated into two major factors. The first factor encompassed variables related to external and environmental aspects: learning interest, parental support, motivation, difficulties, resources, school facilities, approaches, classrooms, materials, and methods. The second factor comprised internal and cognitive elements: conceptual understanding, self-confidence, learning models, anxiety, and techniques. The PCA results highlight the complex interplay between cognitive, affective, and contextual factors in mathematics learning. The findings suggest that interventions should adopt a holistic approach, addressing both environmental and cognitive dimensions. This research contributes to educational practice by identifying key areas for targeted intervention while demonstrating the effectiveness of PCA in understanding complex educational phenomena. Future studies could explore these factors' generalizability across different educational contexts and their longitudinal evolution.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a vital skill for students to interpret data and make informed decisions, especially in data presentation. This study focuses on developing and evaluating animated video-based learning content using Powtoon software to enhance critical thinking skills in data presentation, following the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) instructional design model. In the Analyze phase, a needs assessment was conducted to identify gaps in students' critical thinking skills regarding data interpretation. During the Design and Develop phases, instructional videos were created to target key critical thinking components, including analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. In the Implement phase, the content was introduced to an experimental group, with a control group using traditional instructional methods. A quasi-experimental approach with pre- and post-tests measured critical thinking improvements in both groups. Results demonstrated a significant increase in critical thinking abilities within the experimental group, with mean scores improving from 55.2 to 82.4, compared to the control group’s increase from 54.8 to 65.3. The study concludes that Powtoon-animated videos are an effective tool for fostering critical thinking in data presentation, offering practical implications for multimedia-assisted learning in mathematics education. Recommendations for further research on technology integration in education are discussed.
