Abstract

In the context of the current moral and spiritual crisis among Muslims, understanding of tawhid is often merely theoretical without being accompanied by complete practice in daily life. This indicates the weakness of the foundation of tawhid in education. This study aims to examine the concept of tawhid education in the perspective of the book At-Tadzkiroh by Mbah Kyai Abdul Kalam, as an effort to rediscover deep Islamic values. The method used is qualitative with a literature review approach, through textual and contextual analysis of the book's content. The results of the study indicate that Mbah Kyai Abdul Kalam emphasizes the importance of purifying faith from all forms of polytheism, gaining a deep understanding of Allah's attributes through rational and spiritual approaches, and practicing the values of tawhid in concrete social life. Tawhid education in At-Tadzkiroh is holistic, encompassing the strengthening of intellectual aspects, spiritual deepening, and moral formation. The implications of these findings are the need to integrate classical tawhid values into the contemporary Islamic education system, so that students not only understand tawhid conceptually but are also able to apply it in their attitudes, behavior, and social contributions amid the challenges of the times.

Abstract

Low reflective thinking skills and a lack of understanding of local values among students in Islamic Religious Education are problems at State Senior High School 1 Lintau. Theoretical learning makes it difficult for students to relate religious teachings to the ethnographic culture of Minangkabau. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of project-based learning and differentiated learning models in improving students' reflective thinking skills in integrated Islamic Education lessons incorporating Keminangkabau ethnography. The study used a quantitative comparative approach through an experiment involving 158 students and 4 educators. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The results indicate that the differentiated learning model is more effective in enhancing self-awareness, reflection in action, and future planning. Meanwhile, the project-based model is superior in fostering social reflection. These findings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate learning models to develop reflective skills and strengthen understanding of local values, thereby making Islamic Education more meaningful and contextual.

Abstract

Hadiths about polygamy are often debated in contemporary religious discourse, especially in relation to gender justice and women's rights. Although polygamy is permitted in Islam through the Qur'an and hadith, a literal understanding of these texts often leads to practices that do not reflect justice as the core of Islamic teachings. This study aims to examine hadiths on polygamy using a contextual approach through Fazlur Rahman's double movement theory. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, where the main sources examined are hadith books, classical and contemporary tafsir, and the works of Fazlur Rahman. The double movement theory offers two steps of analysis: first, understanding the historical-sociological context of the hadith during the time of the Prophet; second, extracting universal moral values that are relevant for application in the present context. The findings indicate that polygamy in hadith does not aim to normalize patriarchal relationships but rather serves as a response to specific social situations, such as protecting widows and orphans. Implications suggest the need for a more ethical, historical, and socially responsive interpretative approach to ensure that the understanding of hadith remains aligned with the principles of justice and gender equality in Islam.

Abstract

The Meugang tradition is a cultural heritage of the Acehnese people, held before Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha. The main activities involve the slaughtering of animals and the mass cooking of meat as an expression of gratitude and preparation for the arrival of these significant Islamic holidays. This tradition not only reflects social and cultural values but is also closely tied to religious aspects believed to be rooted in Islamic teachings. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Meugang tradition in Mata Ie, Darul Imarah District, Aceh Besar Regency, from a hadith perspective to assess the alignment of its values with Islamic principles. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive method using the living hadith approach and taḥlīlī analysis. The findings reveal that the Meugang tradition has a strong foundation in Islamic teachings, particularly hadiths regarding the encouragement of sharing food, welcoming festivals with joy, and the importance of strengthening social bonds. Although this tradition is not explicitly mentioned in the hadith, the values contained within it align with the spirit of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. The implications of this research emphasize that the preservation of Meugang can strengthen Islamic values in social life, maintain religious cultural identity, and serve as an example of harmonizing local wisdom with religious teachings.

Abstract

The issue of gender equality in the interpretation of the Qur'an remains a subject of debate, particularly in relation to verses that are often interpreted as supporting the superiority of men over women. One of the most controversial verses is Al-Qur'an Surah an-Nisa verse 34 in the phrase qawwam, which is often interpreted as legitimizing male leadership. This study aims to analyze Zainab Al-Ghazali's interpretation of this verse from an Islamic feminist perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis of primary sources, namely the Qur'an Surah an-Nisa verse 34 and the interpretation Nadzarat fi Kitabillah by Zainab Al-Ghazali, as well as secondary sources in the form of relevant scientific articles. The results of the study indicate that Zainab interprets qiwamah not as a form of domination, but as a moral and social responsibility that emphasizes protection, justice, and cooperation in the household. She also affirms women's authority in the domestic sphere and their direct spiritual responsibility to Allah. The implications of this research contribute to the development of gender-just exegetical discourse, which can serve as a reference in contemporary Islamic feminist studies and promote more equitable and harmonious family relations among Muslims.

Abstract

The declining interest of younger generations in memorizing the Qur’an presents a significant challenge for Islamic education, particularly in preserving the originality and noble values of the Qur’anic teachings. In response to this issue, MAN 2 Pasuruan has developed a Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program as a central pillar of its character education. This study aims to analyze the learning strategies employed in the implementation of the tahfidz program at the school. A qualitative method with a descriptive approach was used in this research. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the tahfidz learning strategies are designed in a structured manner and are adapted to the characteristics of the students. The implementation of the school’s vision is reflected in a comprehensive system involving technical execution, character building, spiritual development, and academic support. The main challenges include limited time, varying student abilities, and inconsistency in muroja’ah (revision), which are addressed through periodic evaluations, teacher-driven motivation, and group division based on memorization levels. The implication of this study suggests that an integrated tahfidz learning strategy can serve as an effective model for shaping Qur’anic generations and strengthening character education in secondary schools.

Abstract

The gap in access to education in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, still needs to be addressed with human resource development. Poverty, limited infrastructure and geographical constraints exacerbate this gap. This research examines the contribution of Lazismu as a Muhammadiyah philanthropic institution in addressing this gap through education programs. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the impact of Lazismu's education programs, such as Sang Surya Scholarship, Mentari Scholarship, and Save Our School. The researcher conducted this research at the Lazismu branch of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The researcher chose this research location because Lazismu Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta operates as one of the philanthropic institutions that offer educational programs. The results of the study show that the programs organized by Lazismu Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta have had a significant positive impact in increasing access to education for students from underprivileged families and improving the quality of school facilities and infrastructure in remote areas. Lazismu programs have proven effective in reducing the burden of education costs for low-income families, enabling children to stay in school, and creating a conducive learning environment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence students' learning concentration in learning Islamic Religious Education at SMA Negeri 5 Kerinci. The main problem identified is the decline in student concentration due to the influence of internal factors such as interest, motivation, emotions, and physical condition, as well as external factors in the form of learning environment, social interaction, and digital media. The method used was a qualitative approach with interviews, observations, and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The results showed that students' learning concentration is strongly influenced by the interaction between internal and external factors. The role of Islamic education teachers as facilitators, motivators, and emotional regulators has proven effective in improving student concentration. In addition, relevant pedagogical approaches and linking religious values also contribute significantly to students' learning focus. The findings provide important implications for Islamic religious education teaching strategies, namely the need for a combination of interactive methods, emotional management and the application of spiritual values that can improve concentration, engagement and overall learning quality in the future.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia is now facing serious challenges in the form of moral crisis, spiritual degradation, and dichotomy between knowledge and values. This condition demands the revitalization of an educational paradigm that is able to unite intellectual, ethical, and spiritual aspects. This research aims to examine the contribution of Sheikh H. M. Arsyad Thalib Lubis in the development of Islamic education through his ideas, intellectual works, and institutional work. The research employs a qualitative approach with a character study method. Primary data were obtained through interviews with educational figures who understood his work, while secondary data were sourced from written documents, scientific works, archives, and historical publications. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, which are then analyzed descriptively-analytically to examine his thoughts, principles, and social influence in the context of education. The results showed that Sheikh Arsyad Thalib Lubis' integrative education paradigm rejects the dichotomy of religious and general sciences, emphasizes the balance between mind and heart, and places education as a means of forming knowledgeable, moral, and socially responsible humans. His thinking is relevant to be applied as a solution to the challenges of globalization and secularization in contemporary Islamic education.
