Abstract

The decline in students’ religious character and moral behavior reflects a growing gap between the spiritual values promoted in schools and students’ actual conduct. This study aims to explore how collaborative co-teaching between Islamic Education and Counseling teachers can strengthen students’ religious character at SMA Panca Budi Medan. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, students, and administrators. The findings show that the co-teaching model—implemented through joint planning, teaching, and evaluation—fosters an integrative approach combining spiritual guidance and psychological support. Islamic Education teachers emphasize moral and spiritual values, while Counseling teachers facilitate reflection and emotional awareness. This collaboration enhances students’ religiosity, empathy, discipline, and participation in religious activities. The model also improves teacher professionalism through mutual learning and shared reflection. However, challenges remain, including scheduling constraints and differing pedagogical paradigms. The study implies that co-teaching offers a transformative framework for character education in Islamic schools, promoting holistic, contextual, and value-based formation of students’ religious identity.

Abstract

The phenomenon of digital media misuse among students—such as the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, and cyberbullying—indicates a low awareness of digital ethics. This condition demands the educational sector, particularly Islamic Religious Education, to play an active role in shaping students’ character so they can use technology wisely and in accordance with Islamic values. This study aims to explore the strategies employed by Islamic Education teachers in instilling character values based on digital ethics among students at SMK Negeri 4 Tanjungbalai City. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that Islamic Education teachers apply integrative strategies combining Islamic teachings with digital phenomena through role modeling, habituation, and contextual discussions on current digital issues. These strategies effectively enhance students’ moral awareness and sense of responsibility in digital spaces. However, low digital literacy and limited facilities remain obstacles. Therefore, collaboration among teachers, schools, and parents is essential to strengthen students’ digital character grounded in Islamic values.

Abstract

Multicultural-based Islamic education innovation is a renewal of the learning process that emphasizes acceptance of the diversity of cultures, ethnicities, religions, and worldviews in society. This innovation includes not only the preparation of inclusive teaching materials, but also the application of interactive, reflective learning methods, and instilling the values of tolerance, justice, and peace according to Islamic teachings. This study aims to analyze the implementation of multicultural-based Islamic education innovations at SMA Negeri 1 Secanggang. The method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques to obtain descriptive data. The results showed that the implementation of this innovation has been running quite well through the integration of Islamic values rahmatan lil-'alamin by Islamic education teachers in learning activities. However, the limited variety of methods, the narrow perspective of some students, and the negative influence of social media are the main challenges. Solutions include educative and persuasive approaches by teachers, collaboration with parents, as well as training and the use of creative learning media. Evaluation of effectiveness was conducted through learning outcomes, observation, and attitude assessment covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

The phenomenon of tabattul, or living a bachelor life without the desire to marry, is increasingly found in Sei Bamban Village, Batang Serangan District, Langkat Regency. Based on observations, there are about twenty people over the age of forty who choose not to marry due to economic factors and concerns about not being able to provide for a spouse. This study aims to analyze this phenomenon from the perspective of maslahah mursalah. The approach used is descriptive qualitative through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that the practice of tabattul is not in line with the principles of Islamic teachings and does not meet the criteria of maslahah. According to the Indonesian Ulema Council of Batang Serangan Subdistrict, Islam encourages marriage as the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad and a means of preserving lineage, honor, and social stability. This study concludes that the decision to remain single without a shar'i reason has the potential to cause social mafsadah, such as alienation and the weakening of family values. The implications of this study emphasize the need for contextual da'wah strategies and economic empowerment programs so that the community can re-understand the meaning of the maslahah of marriage in Islamic life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the principle of comparability in Islamic Religious Education and its implications for improving students' understanding and shaping their Islamic character at MAN 1 Pangkalpinang City. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted in a leading madrasah with heterogeneous student characteristics. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, involving 12 informants consisting of teachers, the principal, the vice principal for curriculum, and students. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through reduction, presentation, and simultaneous data conclusion drawing. The results showed that the principle of comparability was applied through differentiated learning strategies, proportional fairness-based assessment, and Islamic values-based curriculum collaboration. The application of this principle was proven to improve religious understanding and shape students' character to be fair, moderate, and have good morals, although there were still obstacles in the form of teachers' narrow perceptions of the meaning of substantive equality. This study emphasizes the importance of the principle of comparability as a principle of justice in contextual and humanistic Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the strengthening of environmental awareness through the implementation of the Love Curriculum at MAS Tahfizhil Qur'an Islamic Centre as a model of character education based on Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analysed interactively with triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure validity. The results show that the Love Curriculum is effective in fostering ecological awareness among students through the integration of religious, moral, and ecological values in learning activities and school culture. The values of love for Allah, others, and nature are internalised through habit formation, role modelling, and practical activities such as waste management and recycling. Despite limitations in facilities and behavioural consistency, this curriculum successfully shapes positive ecological behaviour and spiritual awareness that caring for nature is a religious duty. Theoretically, this research enriches the concept of eco-spiritual character education that combines faith and ecological responsibility, while practically serving as a reference for Islamic educational institutions in developing love-based and environmentally sustainable curricula.

Abstract

The development of creativity in early childhood within many Islamic educational institutions remains suboptimal because learning tends to be teacher-centered, offers limited exploration, and provides insufficient play experiences that stimulate higher-order thinking. This condition is also evident at Nurul Qur’an Stabat Kindergarten, where children have not yet gained adequate opportunities to experiment and generate original ideas. This study aims to examine how the implementation of STEAM-based learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) using Loose Parts can enhance early childhood creativity. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the use of Loose Parts in STEAM-based learning successfully improved children’s creative thinking abilities, particularly in problem-solving, innovation, flexibility, and the ability to generate new ideas. Children became more active, imaginative, and confident in expressing their thoughts. These results indicate that the integration of STEAM and Loose Parts is not only effective in fostering creativity but also relevant for enriching learning practices in Islamic educational institutions that aim to develop children’s potential holistically.
