Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Islamic boarding schools in shaping the religious character of students amid the challenges of globalization and moral crisis. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with field study methods, it is hoped that more in-depth research information can be obtained. Pesantren are understood as Islamic educational institutions that not only emphasize academic aspects but also instill spiritual and moral values through the approaches of ta'lim (teaching), ta'dib (discipline), and uswah hasanah (setting a good example). Findings indicate that educational practices in pesantren, such as congregational prayer, Quran recitation, study of classical Islamic texts, and social life based on Islamic values, are effective in instilling discipline, responsibility, and spiritual awareness. However, the implementation of character education also faces challenges, both internal, such as limited human resources, and external, such as the influence of digital media and lack of family support. Therefore, collaboration between Islamic boarding schools, families, and the community is needed so that religious character education can run optimally and sustainably. This article is expected to be a theoretical and practical reference in strengthening character education in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The quality of Islamic education in madrasahs still faces challenges such as low teacher discipline, suboptimal infrastructure, and minimal community involvement. This study aims to analyze the strategies of madrasah principals in developing the quality of Islamic education through strategic planning, teacher competency development, and parent and community involvement. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that quality planning is carried out through annual meetings with the foundation, teachers, and staff, and then implemented through the ERKAM application. To improve teacher competencies, the madrasah principal conducts supervision, motivation, and training guidance, although some teachers are still found to be undisciplined. Facility development is carried out through planning, utilization, and maintenance, but some facilities are still incomplete. Community relations are quite good, as indicated by participation in madrasah activities. Parent involvement also supports the achievement of educational quality. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of participatory and quality-oriented leadership in promoting the overall progress of madrasahs.

Abstract

This research aims to examine contemporary Islamic fatwas through the perspective of national social fiqh, using a literature study approach as the main method. The focus of this study specifically highlights the thoughts of KH Sahal Mahfudz and Yusuf al-Qardhawi, two figures who represent an important approach in the renewal of fiqh to be more relevant to today's social and political dynamics. The findings show that fiqh, as a result of ijtihad, is dynamic and is required to continue to adapt to the times, especially in the context of a complex and global nation-state. The concept of social fiqh initiated by KH Sahal Mahfudz underlines the importance of making social conditions the main footing in formulating fatwas, while the idea of fiqh reality from Yusuf al-Qardhawi emphasizes the urgency of harmonization between Islamic texts and social reality to maintain the relevance of Islamic law. Both have a critical view of the fanaticism of the madhhab and both encourage a moderate approach to fiqh based on maqasid al-syari'ah which has ethical and philosophical value. Overall, this study emphasizes the need for a transformation of the fiqh paradigm from a textual-normative approach to a more contextual, solutive, and responsive model of national social fiqh to the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

Secret marriages or Urfi marriages based on custom are widely known among Indonesians. This type of marriage is contrary to Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage and the implementation of Government Regulation No. 9 of 1975 on the Implementation of Law No. 1 of 1974. In light of this, this study aims to analyze the reality of Urfi marriages in Mahato Village, Tambusai Utara District, with a focus on the factors causing their occurrence and the role of the religious affairs office in addressing the issue. The research method used is qualitative, based on descriptive studies, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and document analysis. The following is the revised version. The results of the study reveal that the factor causing the high rate of Urfi marriages is the perception that a marriage certificate is not important for every married couple. However, this situation can cause difficulties for them, especially in the event of administrative problems. The religious affairs office provides education to the community, especially young people, as a preventive measure. This study supports George Homans' Social Exchange Theory, which explains that individual decisions in social relationships, including marriage, are often influenced by considerations of benefits and costs, including administrative and legal aspects of marriage.

Abstract

The study of History of Islamic Civilization is often understood as a subject that only teaches students to know and understand events or information from the past. However, the nature of this subject requires relevance to the context of students' lives today. In response to this, MTs Al-Ma'arif Suka Agung and MTs Mathla'ul Anwar Napal have sought to address this issue by developing a learning approach that goes beyond cognitive skills to focus on critical thinking. This study aims to analyze the efforts made by both madrasahs. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Efforts to enhance cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills begin with the planning phase of instruction, such as developing lesson plans and instructional materials that provide opportunities for students to engage in critical thinking. Instructional implementation employs various strategies and interactive media, such as discussions, presentations, and visual aids. Assessment is carried out formatively and summatively, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, and is used as a basis for improving learning. In general, the strategies applied are able to encourage active student participation and improve their understanding of Islamic history.

Abstract

Family broken home has the potential to reduce children's psychological, social, and academic aspects, including the important character of independent learning in educational achievement. This study highlights the urgency of a holistic approach to Islamic Education that encompasses cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions, especially in guiding students from broken homes. The objectives are to describe the learning independence characteristics of students at SD Kartika Nawa Turen, analyze the role of Islamic education teachers in its development, and assess its impact on students' behavior and learning processes. This study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that students' learning independence is still low. Islamic Education teachers implement positive habit-forming strategies, modeling, emotional-spiritual approaches, and collaboration with parents. These strategies have proven effective in enhancing self-awareness, responsibility, and reducing students' dependence. This study makes an important contribution to the application of affective approaches in Islamic Education learning in challenging environments.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education, particularly in madrasahs, poses a major challenge in facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the development of information technology. At MTsN 1 Buton, the implementation of Android-based End-of-Year Assessment was chosen as a step to respond to these changes. This study uses a qualitative case study approach involving the madrasah principal, teachers, and students. The implementation process of the final assessment was carried out in three stages: planning, development, and implementation. The planning stage involved collaboration between madrasah leaders, teachers, and the information technology team to select the platform and map the devices. The exam application was developed with features such as random questions, time limits, and automatic saving. The exams were conducted in stages to avoid network disruptions. Challenges encountered included device limitations, internet access issues, low digital literacy, and potential cheating. Supporting factors included leadership support, teacher commitment, student enthusiasm, and the presence of a competent information technology team. This study demonstrates that synergy between commitment, digital literacy, and adaptive management is crucial. The implications of these findings contribute to more effective and inclusive digital assessment policies in madrasahs, emphasizing the importance of technology investment and risk mitigation strategies.

Abstract

: Student interest in attending school is important in supporting educational success, but in practice, many students still show a lack of motivation to attend and actively participate in school. One factor that is thought to influence this interest is the school environment. This study aims to determine the influence of the school environment on student interest in attending school at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Wangi-Wangi Selatan, Wakatobi Regency. The school environment is an important external factor that can shape learning interest and support educational success. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlation method. The sample consisted of 54 students selected through proportional random sampling. The instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the analysis showed that the school environment had a significant influence on students' interest in attending school. Based on the categorization of scores, the school environment was in the influential category with the largest proportion of 37%, while interest in attending school was in the moderately influential category with a proportion of 46%. The F-test revealed a positive and significant relationship, with Fcount = 17.149 > Ftable = 4.02 and significance 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, the school environment was proven to play an important role in increasing students' interest in attending school.

Abstract

Abdullah Gymnastiar is one of Indonesia's most popular preachers who has been able to utilize social media to convey religious messages in a calm, simple, and relevant manner. Through his Instagram account, Abdullah Gymnastiar discusses various Islamic topics, including theological concepts such as destiny, which often cause confusion among the general public. In this context, it is important to examine how the meaning of hadiths about destiny is communicated in a modern and easily understandable way. This study aims to analyze the meaning of hadiths about destiny conveyed by Abdullah Gymnastiar through Instagram. The research was conducted using content analysis and a qualitative approach, specifically interpretive analysis. The research data was collected from posts, captions, videos, and comments on Abdullah Gymnastiar's Instagram account. The results of the study indicate that Abdullah Gymnastiar interprets hadiths about destiny by emphasizing the balance between human effort and tawakal (trust in God's will). This message is framed as spiritual motivation that encourages the community to continue striving. The implication is that contemporary preachers need to be creative in utilizing digital media so that religious messages can be conveyed in a communicative, inspiring, and easily understandable manner to the public.
