Abstract

In the lecture process, learning models are very important to support good lecture quality. One of the models that can be used is the presentation model. The presentation model involves the presentation of lecture material by students in front of their peers or in front of the class, either individually or in groups, with material that has been determined by the lecturer. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the presentation model in improving students' responsibility, objectivity, problem identification ability, active participation, and communication skills. This research uses a qualitative method, using a narrative study approach, which describes narratively the learning practices with the presentation model that have been implemented. Data were collected through observation, interview and documentation study. The research informants were lecturers and students. The results showed that the presentation model is very effective in the lecture process. In addition to increasing effectiveness, this model can also increase student creativity and motivation to learn. However, the drawback is the need for facilities and infrastructure as well as careful preparation. This research has implications for the best presentation learning model, which can be used by other lecturers, either at the same institution or at other institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the models, strategies, obstacles, and efforts of gender-based learning equality at MTs Madinatul Ulum. MTs Madinatul Ulum has implemented several gender-based Islamic education models, including inclusive curriculum development by introducing influential female figures in Islamic history, such as Aisyah and Rabi'ah Al-Adawiyah. Non-discriminatory learning strategies are implemented to ensure equal participation between male and female students. In addition, educators are provided with training related to gender equality in an Islamic perspective, as well as anti-discrimination policies that provide equal opportunities for all students in terms of scholarships, awards and leadership. Parental involvement in supporting gender-based education is also an important factor. However, this implementation faces barriers such as educators' limited understanding of gender equality, the influence of traditional socio-cultural norms, a curriculum that has not fully integrated gender equality materials, and school policies that are not firm in prohibiting gender discrimination. To overcome these barriers, curriculum revision, clearer policies, and stronger support from parents and communities are needed. The research method used is case study-based qualitative to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of this gender-based education. This research is to contribute to the development of a more gender-equitable Islamic education at MTs Madinatul Ulum.

Abstract

Child marriage has often been one of the most heated debates amongst Islamic jurisprudents (‘fuqahâ’) and is even opposed by various groups for a variety of reasons, including legislative regulations, health, social and economic concerns, and children’s rights. This article examines the legality of underage marriage according to Islamic law scholars. This research is a library-based study using a conceptual and comparative approach. The data sources for this research include the prominent fiqh texts of the Mâlikî, Hanafî, Shâfi‘î, Hanbalî, and Shia Imamiyya schools. The data is analyzed using content analysis methodology. The findings of this study indicate that the four Sunni schools and the Shia Imamiyya school recognize the permissibility of child marriage, with various conditions, particularly regarding the guardian (wali) who performs the marriage and the potential benefits or harms of the marriage. This study complements research on the perspectives of the five major fiqh schools regarding the legality of child marriage. It also provides an alternative perspective for interpreting the legal regulations on marriage in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the integration of religion and science in the interpretation of Surah Ar-Rahman verses 19-20 in Tafsir An-Nur by Hasby Ash-Shiddiqy. The research focuses on the interpretation of surah Ar-Rahman verses 19-20, analysis of the integration of religion and science in the context of the verse, and the implications of the integration of religion and science for the development of Islamic education and science. This research uses the maudhui tafsir research method. The results showed that Hasby Ash-Shiddiqy interpreted the two seas in Surah Ar-Rahman verses 19-20 as two different types of water, namely fresh water and salt water. Although the two meet in several places such as the mouth of the river that meets the sea, they do not mix completely. This phenomenon is explained as the existence of a boundary or separating the two waters. The integration between religion and science in this tafsir also has an impact on the development of Islamic education and science. In Islamic education, this integration provides an alternative holistic approach in the teaching and learning process and has an impact on the character building of Muslim scientists and the development of multidisciplinary research. In addition, the integration of religion and science in this tafsir has implications for the development of science, including in shaping the ethics of technological development and producing science that has a positive social impact.

Abstract

Differences of opinion regarding the laws of music in Islam continue to be debated in modern society. Music, which is now developing rapidly, has a complex role, not only as entertainment but also as a means of therapy and social expression. On the other hand, there are hadiths that textually appear to prohibit music, giving rise to diverse interpretations. This study aims to analyze the understanding of the hadith about music by using Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutics theory, which emphasizes the importance of understanding the text in its social, cultural, and historical context. This study uses a qualitative method with a hermeneutics approach to explore the meaning of the hadith about music in its context of time and place. The results show that the application of Dilthey's hermeneutics allows for a more contextual and historical understanding of the hadith. The prohibition in the hadith about music is more related to the social conditions of the Arab society at that time, where music was often associated with excessive behavior that could lead to sin. By considering the principle of Islamic purpose, music that is used for positive purposes can remain relevant and not contradict Islamic values. The implication of this study is the need for a contextual approach in understanding hadith, so that the resulting interpretation is more in line with the times and the needs of Muslims today.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project aims to shape the character of students according to the values of Pancasila which are in harmony with Islamic teachings in building noble people. However, its implementation faces various problems. This research analyzes these problems at Tanggulangin Junior High School and Muhammadiyah Porong Junior High School with descriptive qualitative method, using observation, interview, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of principals, teachers, and students involved in the project activities. The results showed several obstacles, such as uneven student participation, limited teaching staff, lack of socialization, and financing issues. From an Islamic perspective, character building is in line with the concept of tarbiyah, which emphasizes morals, manners, and the integration of knowledge and faith. Islam emphasizes the importance of educators as role models (murabbi), Islamic environments, and learning methods that are in accordance with human nature. To make this project more effective, the integration of Islamic values in the education process needs to be strengthened in order to create insan kamil (complete human being). This research is expected to provide recommendations for schools in optimizing the implementation of the project to have a more positive impact on holistic student character building.

Abstract

Many students, especially at the vocational high school level, often face difficulties in making the right career decisions. Lack of adequate information, limited social support, and lack of practical experience are the main challenges. These issues often lead to confusion in choosing a career path that aligns with students' potential and interests. This study aims to explore career decision-making strategies among 12th-grade students at Apipsu Pharmacy Vocational High School in Medan. With the increasing challenges in career selection, it is important for students to have access to adequate skills, information, and social support. Through observation and interviews, this study identified eight types of decision-making strategies, which were divided into effective and ineffective categories. The results showed that hands-on practices such as internships and industrial visits significantly increased students' motivation and understanding of available career options. Additionally, career guidance support was found to be crucial in helping students make decisions aligned with their potential and aspirations. The implications of this study suggest that experience-based learning and continuous career guidance support can significantly improve students' career decisions, reduce confusion, and enhance their readiness to face professional challenges.

Abstract

The values of politeness and courtesy in Malay culture are increasingly being eroded in the era of globalization, particularly among younger generations. The expressions polite in speech, courteous in action represent moral teachings that have been passed down through generations in Malay families as part of character education. This study explores how these values are instilled within Malay families and their role in shaping individual personality. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this research examines oral traditions, customs, and daily practices in Malay households that emphasize ethical communication and respectful behavior toward others. The findings reveal that expressions of politeness in speech and courteous conduct reflect the character education embedded in Malay family life, which cultivates manners, respect, empathy, and wisdom through daily habits and exemplary behavior. These values serve as a cultural identity foundation that must be preserved by the younger generation in modern times. The implications of this study reinforce Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspective that the family is the first and foremost educational environment in shaping character. Therefore, the revitalization of local cultural values within family education is essential to strengthen cultural identity and safeguard the younger generation from a moral crisis amid the forces of modernization.
