Abstract

Land Transportation Radiation Activities is a transportation company located at Marunda Center Block A, North Jakarta. The company's main activity involves renting trucks for logistics operations across Indonesia. This research employs a quantitative research approach. The findings indicate that there is an influence of the maintenance variable on inventory, as the results show that the better the maintenance carried out, the more it minimizes the occurrence of further damage, which, in turn, affects the company's spare parts inventory. The study also found an influence of the repair variable on inventory, with the positive result showing that repairs require adequate inventory. There is an influence of the maintenance variable on servicing, as the results show that good repairs minimize the occurrence of more severe damage, which can impact inventory levels. However, there is no influence of the servicing variable on inventory, as the results show that servicing costs do not occur if maintenance and repairs are not performed. Furthermore, there is no influence of the repair variable on servicing, as the repair costs are absent when a company performs good maintenance. Additionally, there is no influence of maintenance on inventory through servicing, as field data processing indicates that maintenance does not occur according to the preventive maintenance schedule, due to a high number of orders and limited time for preventive maintenance. There is also no influence of repairs on inventory through servicing, as the results indicate that repairs are quite frequent due to the lack of scheduled preventive servicing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of personnel competency and work environment on the effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS) mediated by safety procedure compliance on PT. Lautan Jaya Hasana's ships. The main issue raised in this research is the low level of compliance by ship crew members with safety procedures, as well as the suboptimal implementation of SMS, which impacts the operational safety of the ships. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The population in this research consists of 83 ship crew members of PT. Lautan Jaya Hasana, with a sample selected using purposive sampling technique. Primary data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires measuring respondents' perceptions of personnel competency, work environment safety, safety procedure compliance, and SMS effectiveness. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that personnel competency and work environment safety have a positive and significant impact on safety procedure compliance. Furthermore, safety procedure compliance was found to significantly influence the effectiveness of SMS. These findings emphasize the importance of enhancing personnel competency and improving work environment conditions to increase compliance with safety procedures, which ultimately leads to the effectiveness of Safety Management System (SMS) implementation on the ships. This study provides practical contributions to safety management in the maritime sector and enriches the empirical body of knowledge on the implementation of safety management systems in the shipping industry

Abstract

This study addresses the urgency of improving operational efficiency and reducing voyage costs for service-user vessels operating in the strategic Malacca and Singapore Straits. It aims to examine the influence of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Annex 375 policy and exceptional pilotage services on operational efficiency and their implications for voyage costs. Adopting a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys using questionnaires distributed online and offline, supported by documentation. The research population comprised all vessels served in 2024, with a sample of 142 respondents—vessel officers (captains, chief mates, and chief engineers) directly involved in navigation and pilotage services—selected using Slovin's formula. Data analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS. Results reveal that both the IMO Annex 375 policy and exceptional pilotage services significantly enhance operational efficiency, which in turn positively reduces voyage costs. These findings highlight that implementing international maritime policies and optimizing pilotage services can strategically improve port competitiveness and user satisfaction. The study recommends aligning pilotage service SOPs with IMO standards and strengthening pilotage personnel capabilities to meet the challenges of increasingly complex and competitive global shipping
