Abstract: Numerous acts done by teachers without proper consideration were impactful to students. This study determines the level of teacher cognition to reinforcement and punishment concept in the learning process at school. In addition, this study also aims to assign the accuracy of applying these concepts to students. Mixed-method using embedded design was implemented to address the goals. As 49 teachers responded from several schools in the District of Kepulauan Pongok, South Bangka. Besides, in-depth interviews were also conducted with five teachers who were selected. The research sample was set based on purposive sampling. The data collection techniques were a questionnaire in the form of a rating scale and an in-depth interview form with a feasibility test previously performed using the Content Validity Index. Likewise, the data obtained were processed using the calculation of the average, standard deviation, percentage as well as content analysis. The results indicated that 2.86 out of 5 or 57.2% of the teachers had good understanding towards the two concepts. Meanwhile, 3.15 or 63% of the teachers were familiar to reinforcement. Besides, 2.44 or 4.88% of the teachers were familiar to give punishment.  In other words, the comprehension as well as it application are classified very moderate and needed to be carefully watched.

Abstract

Abstract: Cooperative learning is a learning strategy that involves the active role of students in group collaboration to achieve common goals. Several difficulties were found that caused low student learning outcomes such as the passive atmosphere shown by students in the learning process, this can be seen from the lack of students responding to the questions posed by the teacher, the lack of responsibility of students in doing homework, and there are still students who were not serious during class. This study aims to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills through the NHT-type cooperative learning model. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is a research activity carried out in the classroom as a learning effort, critical reflection on a lesson plan for teacher performance, teacher-student interaction, and student-class interaction. in this study, there was an increase in the number of students who reached the target from cycle I to cycle II. The results in cycle II have reached the set target, this shows that the application of the Use of NHT Type Cooperative Learning Model can improve students' critical thinking skills. This achievement percentage indicates that students experience an increase in critical thinking skills in constructing simple explanations, building basic skills, and concluding. The conclusion of this study is that learning using the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills by up to 34% which can be seen from 3 aspects namely Building Simple Explanations by 31%, Building Basic Skills by 37%, and Concluding 35% in physics class X2 Senior high school.

Creative problem solving is the constructivist learning model to create creative, imaginative, and innovative solutions in the aim of training and teaching individuals to think differently in solving problems. The research focus was to find out students' learning outcome and creative thinking skills using creative problem solving-based learning. The participants were tenth  grade of senior high school in the school year 2019/2020 which were divided into science class as the control class (N=33), and X IPA 2 class as the experimental class (N=33). The research instrument used was a description test on biodiversity content with creative problem solving indicators, namely Clarify, Ideate, Develop, and Implement. Quantitative data analysis used was MANOVA test at a significant level of 5%. The results of this study were the average values for each indicator of creative thinking and learning outcomes in the experimental and control classes showing that the control class was lower than the experimental class. It means that learning outcomes and creative thinking skills through creative problem solving had an impact than the classes using creative problem solving. Therefore, there was a significant influence and a relationship among the creative problem-solving model, creative thinking skills, and learning outcomes which was indicated by the value of. 0.000<0.05.

Abstract

Globalization has a strong impact on the world of education. it needs to consider the best solutions that can be implemented so that the National Educational System (NES) can play the role and function it should. The process of reformulating educational policies must pay attention to Islamic values, which are the beliefs of most of society in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to investigate the challenges to the inculcation of Islamic values in the National Educational System (NES) in the era of globalization. Qualitative research was adopted as the method in this study. Five school authorities and five teachers with more than fifteen years of experience were interviewed in semi-structured interviews. Previous research found that teachers faced many problems in inculcating Islamic values, such as in the process of teaching and learning, curriculum, methods of teaching, and so on. The limitation of previous research was most of the problems in the process of teaching and learning only. Here we report the problems that become challenges in inculcating Islamic values in the NES in the era of globalization. The challenges are the national curriculum, parents’ lack of support, students’ diverse backgrounds, and the pandemic scenario of COVID-19. Therefore, school authorities and teachers should try continuously to provide the best education to students, such as innovation and evaluation in teaching and learning both related to subjects in the national curriculum, and the activities in instilling Islamic values. Additionally, it needs good cooperation with various parties like the government, parents, and students.

Abstract

With the increasing globalization of society, classrooms environments are becoming more diverse, incorporating students from various cultural backgrounds. This diversity holds the potential for inclusive learning environments that embrace the differences among school members. However, such differences can give rise to communication problems, misunderstandings, divergent expectations, and lack of tolerance towards diversity. Prior studies have explored the effectiveness of collaborative learning in fostering collaboration and teamwork among students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Nevertheless, the specific discussion of collaboration skills among students in Indonesian multicultural schools remains unclear. Hence, this study aims to investigate how students in Indonesian multicultural schools exhibit their collaboration skills through the utilization of the jigsaw learning model. Qualitative methods, including classroom observation and semi-structured interviews, were employed to collect data for this study. The findings indicate that students in multicultural schools effectively overcome challenges stemming from cultural differences and demonstrate positive collaborative behaviors when implementing the jigsaw learning method. These behaviors include interactive communication, respect for differing opinions, resource sharing, group identification, and a focus on achieving shared goals. However, a minority of students encountered difficulties in sharing resources due to personal factors. The study concludes with recommendations for future research endeavors in this field.
