Abstract

The degradation of moral values amid technological advancement during the 5.0 Industrial Revolution era and the complexities of the 21st century stand as a significant concern in contemporary education. Focused on UNESCO's four pillars and the cultural heritage embedded within the Amanat Galunggung manuscript, this study aims to unveil the contents of the Amanat Galunggung manuscript and explore their interrelation in shaping holistic individuals within modern education. Undertaking a crucial task, this research seeks to comprehend how these foundational aspects collectively combat the moral dilemmas arising from technological advancements in today's educational landscape. To interpret the contents of the Galunggung Amanat text, the hermeneutical method is used. Data was collected through documentation instruments and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The The results of the research show that the Amanat Galunggung text contains knowledge about self-introspection and how to behave, as well as recommendations for carrying out good actions and prohibitions against behaving not in accordance with the rules, especially in living together. This instills educational values which aim to develop individuals who are educated, skilled and have character. These values are in line with UNESCO's four pillars of education: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be. The compatibility between the values in the Galunggung Mandate and the four pillars of UNESCO shows its potential as a solution for strengthening character amidst moral degradation in contemporary education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach to overcome mathematics learning difficulties in grade IV students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Learning difficulties experienced by students of madrasah ibtidaiyah age on average are difficulties in understanding concepts, low arithmetic operation skills, and a lack of mathematical problem-solving skills in high grades. So teachers need to create contextual, relevant, and interesting learning through the RME approach. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study type. The informants in this study consisted of 7 informants, namely the principal, class teacher, and 5 students. Data collection techniques include observation of the real situation in the field, interviews by asking 25–38 questions of informants, and supporting documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The data validity technique uses source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach has gone well by utilizing objects in the students' daily environment, namely donuts, pebbles, pencils, and money. This has a positive impact on overcoming students' learning difficulties, as evidenced by the increase in students' daily test scores on number and measurement material from the class average of 72.85 to 80 and 81.90. Thus, it can be implied that the importance of teachers having the right approach and model in learning, especially using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach, lies in overcoming students' mathematics learning difficulties so that learning outcomes can be maximally realized. This approach is suitable for MI-aged children because, at the age of 7–11 years, students are not yet able to understand concrete material, so they need learning media or are associated with everyday life as an implementation of the RME approach.

Abstract

The curriculum is one of the keys to the successful implementation of character education in Islamic educational institutions. Therefore, this research aims to systematically and deeply analyze curriculum management in Islamic boarding schools in the modern era. Related research results from Dimension and Scopus databases over the past 10 years are visualized, interpreted, and synthesized systematically. The results show that research on curriculum management in modern boarding schools has been widely studied in various countries in Asia, especially in Islamic-based countries. Further analysis found that modern boarding schools play an important role in shaping character and religious and cultural values that become the foundation for the development of individuals who are noble and integrated in a multicultural society. Furthermore, a curriculum that focuses on the integration between religious education, science, and the role of technology will enrich the learning experience and be able to adapt to the needs of education in the modern era. Despite facing challenges such as the digital divide and limited infrastructure, the transformational approach of pesantren that prioritizes character education and community involvement contributes greatly to sustainable development and relevant education quality. These results can serve as a reference for the development of educational policies that are more responsive to the challenges of the times, as well as provide guidance for Islamic educational institutions in adapting traditional values to the demands of modern society.
