Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of student character development in a coastal madrasah at MA Al-Washliyah in Nagur Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The focus of the study includes four main aspects: the management of character development through the introduction of moral concepts and character education values, the management of character habituation through repeated practices, the management of reflective activities, and the management of the integration of moral actions in a natural and consistent manner. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis, with the main informants consisting of the head of the madrasah, vice principal, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that character development at MA Al-Washliyah in Nagur Village has been managed in a planned and contextual manner in accordance with the characteristics of the coastal environment. The introduction of moral values is carried out through integration in the learning process, the exemplary behavior of educators, and the utilization of religious learning resources. Character habituation is implemented through consistent daily routines and continuous supervision. Reflection is conducted through dialogical approaches and counseling that help students understand the moral meaning of their actions. Furthermore, the integration of moral actions is reflected in students’ behavior, which becomes increasingly independent and consistent and is embodied in the school culture. This study concludes that the management of character development at MA Al-Washliyah in Nagur Village is implemented systematically and sustainably through the stages of introduction, habituation, reflection, and integration of moral values. However, the effectiveness of character development is still influenced by external factors, such as family and community environments. Therefore, strengthening the synergy between schools, families, and communities is necessary to ensure the sustainability of character education reinforcement for students in coastal madrasahs

Abstract

Youth slang is a sociolinguistic phenomenon marking social identity construction in the digital era. This research analyzes social identity construction through Japanese youth slang (wakamono kotoba) and Manado slang in comparative sociolinguistic perspective. The research objectives are to analyze linguistic characteristics, identify social identity construction mechanisms, and compare identity construction patterns between both cultural contexts. The research method employs qualitative approach with library research, analyzing 2021-2025 literature through content analysis. Results show wakamono kotoba has 13 complex formation processes influenced by four Japanese writing systems, while Manado slang is more flexible through blending, clipping, and regional language integration. Identity construction mechanism occurs through three layers (personal, enactment, communal) with convergence and divergence strategies on digital platforms. Similarities in both contexts include group solidarity functions and linguistic creativity. Significant differences are identified in extremely rapid Japanese slang change cycles and stronger secrecy functions, while Indonesia experiences regional language shift with foreign language dominance on social media. The research suggests developing longitudinal studies, educational approaches recognizing slang creativity, and regional language revitalization strategies relevant to youth digital ecology

Abstract

The present research examines the impact exerted by social media marketing and brand awareness on purchase intention, wherein brand image operates as an intervening construct, focusing on Adiwana Resort Jembawan, a four-star wellness boutique establishment located in Ubud, Bali. Despite active Instagram marketing and strong brand awareness metrics, the resort experienced persistently low consumer purchase intention, reflected in unmet room booking targets and declining website visits between 2019 and 2021. This contradiction motivated an investigation into the interrelationships among the four variables. A quantitative research framework was utilized, wherein data were obtained from 115 Instagram followers of the resort, selected through purposive sampling, using Likert-scale questionnaires. Subsequent analysis was performed employing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.3.3. The investigation substantiates seven significant positive associations: social media marketing and brand awareness each exert a positive influence on both purchase intention and brand image; brand image positively affects purchase intention; and brand image serves as a mediator in the relationships connecting both independent variables to purchase intention. The model shows strong predictive relevance (Q² = 0.895). To boost bookings, Adiwana Resort Jembawan should improve Instagram accessibility, share consistent product information, and create engaging content. Future research should include other locations and additional variables to enhance generalizability.

Abstract

Learning in the classroom is inseparable from the communication process between teachers and students. Every explanation, question, or response conveyed in the learning process is a form of speech that has a specific purpose. However, in learning activities, there is often not much study of how the forms of speech that appear during interactions. Therefore, this study aims to describe and analyze the forms of illocution speech used by teachers and students in learning Indonesian in grades XI-3 of SMA Negeri 5 Mandau. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The method used is content analysis to examine speech that appears during the learning process. The research data is in the form of teacher and student speech which is included in the act of illocution. The data source in this study is the interaction of Indonesian language learning in grades XI-3 of SMA Negeri 5 Mandau on news text materials and scientific papers. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, recording, listening methods, and recording methods during four learning meetings. The results of the study showed that 91 acts of illocution were found consisting of 37 acts of assertive speech, 31 acts of directive speech, 14 acts of commissive speech, and 9 acts of expressive speech, while declarative acts of speech were not found. Assertive and directive speech acts appear the most because teachers often provide explanations, information, and directions to students during learning. Meanwhile, commissive and expressive speech acts appear in smaller amounts, usually related to promises, responses, or expressions of feelings in the learning process. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interaction between teachers and students in learning Indonesian in grades XI-3 of SMA Negeri 5 Mandau is more of an act of illocution speech that is explanatory (assertive) and directs (directive) learning activities. This shows that communication in learning is quite active and helps support the learning process in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing work fatigue among heavy equipment operators at PT. Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA). Workplace accidents caused by operator fatigue still occur in the field; therefore, research is needed to identify the underlying causes. The variables examined in this study include work schedule, work activities, and personal factors as independent variables; work demand as a mediating variable; and living condition as a moderating variable. This research adopts a quantitative methodology utilizing a survey design, gathering data via questionnaires administered to a sample of 415 participants. The analysis of the data was conducted using a quantitative approach grounded in PLS-SEM. The findings reveal that Work Schedule and Work Activities do not exert a statistically significant direct influence on Fatigue State. However, Personal Factor demonstrates a significant positive effect on Work Demand, which subsequently has a significant impact on Fatigue State. Furthermore, mediation analysis reveals that Work Demand serves as a full mediator in the relationship between Personal Factor and Fatigue State. Meanwhile, Living Condition is not proven to act as a moderating variable nor to have a direct effect on Work Demand. These findings suggest that operator fatigue is more influenced by the perception of work demands shaped by personal factors than by structural work characteristics. Theoretically, this study extends the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) framework by positioning Personal Factor as an antecedent that shapes the perception of Work Demand. Practically, the research results emphasize the importance of managing Work Demand perception as well as strengthening the physical capacity and psychological readiness of operators in efforts to control work fatigue.

Abstract

This study explored prospective teachers’ experiences using reflective practice tools: video and photovoice. Five prospective students comprising two males and three females aged between 21-24 voluntarily participated in the present study. All participating students were required to submit eight reflective journals mediated by video of their teaching and eight photovoice-based reflective journals during microteaching. At the end, multiple informal interviews were held to investigate participating students’ experiences of their reflection through video and photovoice. The findings of the study showed that the prospective teachers generally perceived photovoice-based reflection more fruitful than video stimulated reflection. Timing, specificity, and simplicity were the major reasons of preference.

Abstract

The constructivist approach has become a learning paradigm that has received widespread attention in various educational disciplines, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Although there have been many empirical studies in general education, theoretical studies that analyze the relationship between constructivism and the epistemology and pedagogy of IRE in depth are still limited. This article aims to theoretically analyze the constructivist approach in the context of Islamic Religious Education and examine its pedagogical implications for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of IRP learning. This study uses the library research method with content analysis and literature synthesis from national and international journal articles published between 2016 and 2025. The results of the study show that constructivism provides a strong conceptual foundation for developing student-centered, dialogical, reflective, and contextual Islamic Religious Education learning. Its pedagogical implications include changing the role of teachers to facilitators, using active learning strategies such as problem-based learning and reflective discussions, and evaluations that assess the cognitive, affective, and reflective aspects of students. This article recommends the integration of constructivism principles into the curriculum and learning practices of Islamic Religious Education at various levels of education as an effort to enrich the integrity of religious learning.

Abstract

This paper contends that the contextual worship debate ought to go beyond issues of style adjustment and aesthetic appropriateness to a more stringent practical-theological description of how worship conveys faith, shapes ecclesial identity and is not subject to instrumental diminution. With an interpretive library research design, the article peruses the theory of communicative action by Jurgen Habermas and some of the most significant discussions in practical theology, liturgical studies, digital ecclesiology, and Indonesian contextual theology. It is revealed that the best way to understand worship is as communicative-theological praxis where the truth claims, normative claims, and expressive claims are united in the lifeworld of the church. In that regard, cultural proximity, technological sophistication, or numerical appeal cannot be considered as a judgment of contextualization. It has to be assessed on whether it maintains theological fidelity, enhances communicative intelligibility, nurtures participatory reciprocity and fosters ethical-transformative fruit in community life. One of the new aspects of the article is the suggestion of these four criteria as an evaluation tool to differentiate between contextualization and instrumentalization. The existence of such a framework enables the evaluation of digital, hybrid, and culture-based worship practices without either reduction to nostalgic traditionalism or market-driven innovationism. The conclusion of the study is that practical theology is a critical and constructive exercise: it assists churches to make the gospel relevant to them in specific cultural ways and to protect worship against being turned into a spectacle or a product, an efficient religious service.

Abstract

The economic growth generated by natural resources in mining areas is often used by governments to mask structural tensions between development, social inequality, and environmental degradation. This study analyzes the devastating socio-economic and ecological impacts of coal mining expansion in Gunung Asri Village (pseudonym), East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The study used qualitative data obtained from in-depth interviews with 25 informants. Informants included village elites, traditional and religious leaders, farmers, traders, mine workers, and ordinary residents, reflecting variations in occupation, education level, and socio-cultural background. The study found that the industry has generated limited material benefits through infrastructure development and employment. However, the distribution of these benefits is unequal and has resulted in significant socio-ecological damage, such as land displacement, reduced agricultural productivity, water and air pollution, health risks, and increased livelihood vulnerability. CSR programs remain compensatory and technocratic, failing to address structural inequalities or foster long-term community empowerment. This situation is exacerbated by the consolidation of exclusive local power relations tightly controlled by village elites, which limit meaningful community participation and deepen social fragmentation. Coal-based development has resulted in socio-ecological transformation without empowerment in rural mining communities

Abstract

This multidisciplinary comparative study examines the academic boundaries between Islamic educational management and general educational management, exploring their philosophical foundations, methodological approaches, and practical implications. Through systematic analysis of 189 scholarly works, this research employs a comparative multidisciplinary framework to deconstruct traditional disciplinary boundaries and identify convergence and divergence points between these two management systems. The findings reveal that while both systems share fundamental management principles planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling they diverge significantly in their epistemological foundations, value systems, and ultimate educational objectives. Islamic educational management integrates divine revelation (Al-Qur'an and Hadith) with management science, emphasizing spiritual development alongside cognitive achievement, whereas general educational management operates within secular, empiricist frameworks prioritizing vocational skills and economic productivity. However, emerging trends indicate potential for integration through shared concerns for holistic human development, quality improvement, and ethical leadership. The study identifies five key areas of substantial difference: educational purpose, philosophical foundations, curriculum management, student development approaches, and institutional governance. This research contributes to ongoing discourse on educational integration by proposing a multilayered model that respects distinctive characteristics while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue. The implications extend to policy development, curriculum design, and leadership training in diverse educational contexts, particularly in pluralistic societies managing both Islamic and secular educational institutions.
