Abstract

Lubrication is one aspect that must be paid attention to, remembering that if there is a delay in lubrication or imperfect lubrication, it will result in damage to the parts that rub together. Low lubricating oil pressure is one of the factors causing imperfect lubrication in the engine. The purpose of lubrication for the performance of the main engine is to reduce friction between other components of the main engine. This research was carried out at MV. Manalagi Dasa, the method used in this research was the Fishbone Diagram. The problem formulation of this research is what causes an increase in the temperature of the lubricating oil on the main motor and what is the impact of increasing the temperature of the lubricating oil on the main motor. Based on research that has been carried out, there are several factors that cause less than optimal lubrication of the oil cooler on the main engine, namely engine factors including damage to gaskets, human factors, namely the lack of understanding of the driver about the lo cooler, operational and maintenance method factors, namely incompatibility in implementing the PMS (Plan Maintenance System) as well as environmental factors, namely dirty sea chest filters. Efforts made include repairing or replacing gaskets on the lo cooler plate, the importance of the machinist's understanding of the lo cooler, implementing PMS (Plan Maintenance System), and cleaning the sea chest filter.

Abstract

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has been seen as a promising alternative in the face of these challenges. However, attention remains focused on the efficiency of LNG distribution, especially in the face of unpredictable demand fluctuations. Currently, with demands for increasing distribution efficiency, Indonesia, one of the largest LNG producers in Southeast Asia, faces a particular challenge in achieving efficiency in meeting domestic energy needs. To address the problem, the Indonesian government has initiated a program to streamline energy infrastructure development, focusing on LNG distribution in Eastern Indonesia. The study will use two distribution schemes, Milk-Run and Hub-Spoke, with different types of ship capacity to calculate operating costs. This study focuses on comparing the effectiveness of the two popular distribution schemes, the Milk-Run and the Hub-Spoke, especially in optimizing LNG distribution in the area. The data in this study was obtained from institutions that openly publish data in a digital system. The findings suggest that the Milk-Run distribution scheme was identified as an optimal solution for LNG delivery to multiple points from a single source for Northern and Southern Papua. The results of this study are expected to provide practical guidance to the parties concerned in their efforts to improve the efficiency of LNG distribution in eastern Indonesia and further study in other regions of Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the flow of the cruise ship crew recruitment process at PT. CWT, to find out what obstacles are experienced when recruiting cruise ship crew, and to find out a crew to meet the targets of the Norwegian Cruise Line. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach to case studies in the selected objects. Data collection in the study used data triangulation, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The object of the study is PT. CWT Bandung. The results of the study were obtained. There are several factors that make crew take a long time to join or even cancel joining due to several factors that still often occur. The factors found in the recruitment process for ship crew at PT. CWT are often incomplete document requirements from the crew who apply or there are still many crew who are not proficient in English because they are required to take a marlin test whose results must be 70% and the interview must also be in English. Efforts were made to meet the target of Norwegian Cruise Line to always fill every position that was needed, seeking relations such as shipping schools to be informed that there were vacancies for certain positions that were needed.

Abstract

The main engine serves as the primary power source for propelling the ship forward and backward. This engine operates on an internal combustion system, where fuel and air are compressed in the combustion chamber to generate thermal energy, which is then converted into mechanical energy through piston movement. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with SHEL data analysis techniques, identifying the causative factors, impacts, and corrective measures associated with the non-rotation of the valve rotator in the main engine. The findings indicate that the primary cause of the valve rotator's non-rotation is improper installation of the valve collet and wear on the valve rotator body, which affects valve performance and reduces the overall efficiency of the main engine. Corrective actions include replacing the valve rotator and performing routine lubrication checks to prevent further damage.

Abstract

Ships used for shipping goods, especially on the MV. Cap San Juan there are things that must be considered, one of which is the reefer container which has strict maintenance and control to know that the reefer container can work optimally. In this case the reefer container has a risk of damage to its components so that the reefer container does not function as it should. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss as a form of effort in handling if damage occurs and unwanted obstacles occur. This study aims to determine the causes and effects of mechanical damage to reefer containers on ships and to find out how to overcome reefer containers that experience mechanical damage on the high seas based on field conditions. The research method used is a qualitative method using data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation regarding the handling of reefer containers when problems occur. Based on the results of observations made by the author regarding the various obstacles that occur in reefer containers during sea practice, there are two causes, namely component damage because it has passed the time limit for use and an electrical short circuit in one of its components which causes the reefer container to not be able to work optimally. This happened because there was no thorough checking and lack of maintenance.
