Abstract

Departure schedule is an important thing to be considered by the companies and ship crews providing passenger ship. KM Nggapulu experienced a delay in departure at Fak-Fak Port on January 26, 2023. This raised complaints from passengers due to their inconvenience. This study aims to analyze the problem of departure delay of KM Nggapulu by identifying the factors and impacts of the delays, as well as actions to prevent delays in passenger ship. Qualitative method using fishbone analysis was applied in this research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation studies, and literature studies. To test the validity of the data, researchers used triangulation. The research found that the delay in departure of KM Nggapulu is due to the late loading of containers. This occurred due to the negligence of the container loading and unloading party and the lack of coordination between PT SBN, the owner of the goods (shipper), and the ship’s crew. The delay of containers loading resulted in the ship's delayed departure for 5 (five) hours and caused complaints from passengers. Optimizing coordination between related parties, increasing manpower, and optimizing loading and unloading facilities at the port were the actions taken to prevent the delay.

Abstract

The length of the ship clearance process at an agency company makes a reference for each company in improving the quality of services provided and the skills of its employees. This study aims to determine the effect of service quality and skills on the effectiveness of sailing time for bulk cargo ships loaded with coal at three different agency companies on the island of Kalimantan. The method used is a quantitative approach through primary data processing on IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) 25 which comes from 30 respondents. The results of the research proven through the t test show that service quality and skills partially have a positive and significant influence on effectiveness. Simultaneous testing with an Fcount value of 33.755> 4.20 and a sig value of 0.000 <0.05 proves that service quality and skills together have a significant influence on effectiveness. This is supported by the coefficient of determination test which states that the service quality and skills variables have an influence of 71.4%, on the effectiveness variable, while 28.6% of effectiveness is influenced by variables outside of service quality and skills not examined by the author. The conclusion in this study is that the service quality and skills variables have a positive influence on the effectiveness variable partially and simultaneously.

Abstract

A pier is a port building used for anchoring and mooring ships carrying out loading and unloading of goods and loading and unloading of passengers. This research was conducted to obtain information about the feasibility of a jetty. From the visual results of the dive team's survey, it shows that corrosion occurs from the surface of the high tide to the surface of the riverbed, this can be seen from some of the documentation that there is a porous surface of steel pipe piles. In steel pipe, 56.25% (thickness less than 12 mm) of the 16 piles indicated that they were porous and loose which, in the reduction of the thickness of the steel pipe. About 43.75% (thickness more than 12 mm) is weathered so that its dimensions have increased in thickness of steel pipe dimensions. For pile integrity, the results obtained are 33.34% pile integrity less than 60% from 15 test points, 33.34% integrity from 60-79% from 15 test points, 6.67% integrity from 80-99% from 15 test points, 20% of the 15 test points failed. The current condition of the wharf is weakened due to natural conditions as well as due to age and service load, therefore a decrease in capacity affects the behavior of the pier so that the collision that occurs causes a very high vibration cycle.

Abstract

Crude palm oil (CPO) loading operations at TUKS PT Sumber Kencana Inhu still occur spills that pose a threat to cargo safety and environmental pollution. In addition, the Shipshore Safety Checklist (SSCL) has not been implemented as a safety inspection guide before loading. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of CPO spills and efforts to implement SSCL at TUKS PT Sumber Kencana Inhu to overcome the spills that occurred. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The data analysis technique uses fishbone analysis to identify the causes of spills and uses SWOT analysis to determine the strategic factors for SSCL implementation. The results of this study show that the factors causing CPO spills are human factors with a lack of coordination between the loading master and the chief officer, method factors with a lack of SOPs for checking loading facilities, and material factors with the nature of CPO which is easy to experience a decrease in temperature. In overcoming these spills, it can be done by improving coordination between the loading master and chief officer, implementing detailed loading facility inspection standards, and creating loading procedures. This can be overcome by maximising strengths and taking advantage of opportunities from the implementation of SSCL. The implementation of SSCL can be done by applying the indicators contained in SSCL into the loading operation SOP and translating SSCL into Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Coal is a natural resource consisting of fossilized plant deposits that have undergone a process of decay and petrification for millions of years. In the International Maritime Dangerous Good Code (IMDG code) regulations, coal cargo is included in class IV, which provides for flammable solid objects. This study aims to determine the causal factors, impacts, and efforts to overcome coal cargo fires. In preparing the research results, researchers conducted research using descriptive qualitative methods. The research data source was obtained using the triangulation method, which combines observation, and interviews and is supported by study of documentation it is found that the factors causing the coal cargo fire were the poor quality of coal, the flammable nature of coal and the high temperature which caused the coal cargo in the hold to catch fire. The burning coal cargo has an impact on the loading process which is delayed because the process of extinguishing hotspots in the hold takes a long time. Efforts made by the ship's crew to overcome the burning coal cargo are by cooling down and separating the burning coal to avoid the spread of hotspots. Supervision of the coal loading process by checking the temperature must be done correctly to ensure that the cargo is safe. conduct safety meetings before and after the loading process is carried out to provide knowledge to all crew members about coal loading procedures.
