Abstract

In-house training (IHT) programs effectively address educational challenges in schools through a thorough needs analysis. While IHT programs are frequently conducted, the primary focus should be on enhancing the quality of training to meet the specific needs of institutions, roles, and individuals involved. At SDN 98, a notable issue is the low utilization of technology in the learning process despite adequate multimedia facilities. Among 17 classroom teachers, fewer than 25% are proficient in using computers for instruction, and only one or two teachers regularly use laptops. The use of LCD projectors is also rare. This situation highlights the urgent need to improve teachers' information and communication technology (ICT) skills. Consequently, this Study aims to enhance the ICT competencies of SDN 98 teachers through targeted training and the development of IHT modules. The research employs a research and development (R&D) method that includes eight stages: initial research, planning, product design, validation, revision, limited trials, and field trials. The developed IHT module received excellent evaluations, with an average score of 4.49 from respondents and 4.56 from instructors, indicating its practicality and effectiveness in enhancing teachers' ICT competencies.

Abstract

Broadminded character is understood by one's ability to know oneself, make decisions, analyze patterns, be broadminded, contribute positively, empathize, know one's limits, capture the essence of the problem, have self-awareness, become a reference for opinions, and have integrity. Bullying often occurs in the world of education, which reflects a lack of wisdom in behaviour. The rise of bullying cases requires in-depth education to form a broadminded character. This study aims to develop a textbook on home civilization based on PjBL to foster broadminded character. This study used the ADDIE-type Research & Development (R&D) method. Ten certified elementary school teachers were involved in conducting a needs analysis, five teachers and five experts as expert judgment validators and eight children aged 10-12 years were involved in a limited trial of the book. The results showed that 1) the book on PjBL-based home civilization to foster broadminded character was developed with ADDIE stages; 2) the quality of the textbook was classified as "very good" so that it did not require revision (3.89 on a scale of 1-4); 3) the application of this textbook had a significant effect on broadminded character (p < 0.05) with a category effect (r = 0.992) or equivalent to 98% which was classified as a "large" effect category. The level of effectiveness is high (89.61%).

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in improving students' literacy skills through a 15-minute literacy program. This approach is based on grouping students according to their ability levels, allowing teaching strategies to be tailored to students' needs. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach, where data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Students are grouped based on their reading abilities: beginner, letters, words, paragraphs, and stories. The instruments used in this study are initial diagnostic and developmental tests conducted orally at the beginning and during the research process. These tests measure the overall development of students' reading skills over time. Data analysis is conducted to evaluate students' engagement and their responses to short but intensive literacy activities. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' literacy skills at all reading ability levels, both in comprehension and reading fluency. This improvement suggests that the TaRL approach can effectively enhance elementary school literacy skills. This research is expected to significantly contribute to developing more effective literacy strategies in elementary schools to optimize short yet effective learning time.

Abstract

This research aims to strive for gender-responsive classroom management in elementary schools so that it can minimize and prevent bullying among elementary school students. During puberty, sensitivity to gender, self-identity, and social pressure increases, and ignorance of sex education and the reproductive system makes students more vulnerable to bullying. This research uses the systematic literature review (SLR) method by collecting literature from scientific journals, books, and other sources. The results of this research are strengthened by students' knowledge about sexuality education and the reproductive system, thereby making students' attitudes able to accept differences and demonstrate behavior that supports gender equality. Based on this research, it was concluded that classroom management, which focuses on gender-responsive matters in facing puberty, has been proven to be able to minimize and prevent bullying in elementary school students. Gender-responsive classroom management has great potential to prevent bullying and create a safer and more inclusive learning environment for all students. The implications of this research cover various aspects, from curriculum development and teacher training to changes in social norms. By applying these research findings, we can create a generation of young people who are more equal, tolerant, and respectful of differences.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of implementing the discovery learning (DL) approach on improving students' writing skills in English subjects. The study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design involving pre-tests and post-tests on two groups: a control group and an experimental group. The population of this study comprised 10th-grade students of Hospitality 1 and 2 at SMK N 6 Semarang in the 2024/2025 academic year, with Hospitality 1 as the control group and Hospitality 2 as the experimental group. In the experimental group, students were taught using the discovery learning (DL) approach, while the control group was taught without it. Data were collected through a writing test on recount texts and a closed questionnaire containing 15 questions to measure students' perceptions of the discovery learning approach. The data analysis, conducted using SPSS 27, revealed that the t-value (9.830) was greater than the t-table value (1.849) at a significance level of 0.025 with 27 degrees of freedom. This indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, showing a significant effect of discovery learning on students' writing skills. The questionnaire results demonstrated that students responded positively to this method, stating that discovery learning helped them become more active and engaged in the learning process. In conclusion, implementing the discovery learning (DL) approach significantly improves students' writing skills, making it an effective alternative for enhancing writing abilities in English language learning. The implication of this study suggests that teachers are encouraged to integrate discovery learning into their teaching strategies to foster active student participation and achieve optimal learning outcomes.
