Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of an educational outing class, improve elementary school students’ understanding of economic activities, introduce Indonesian local products, and strengthen Pancasila values through contextual learning. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving third-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through participatory observation, documentation, student worksheets (LKPD), and reflective activities. The outing class was conducted at Warung Wedang Rempah dan Asem Jawa and Home Industry Pia Citra Sari Wangi as learning resources for economic activities and local product recognition. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the outing class effectively connected classroom concepts with real-life experiences. Students demonstrated a better understanding of production, distribution, and consumption processes through direct observation and interaction with local entrepreneurs. In addition, students developed greater appreciation and pride toward Indonesian local products and gained awareness of the importance of supporting local businesses. The activity also enhanced students’ learning motivation, participation, critical thinking, and social interaction. Furthermore, values related to Pancasila, such as gratitude, respect for others, cooperation, and love for the homeland, were naturally integrated into the learning process. Therefore, outing class can be considered an effective contextual learning strategy to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

The current development of basic education calls for strengthening literacy as the primary foundation of learning, particularly reading skills, which serve as the gateway to mastering various fields of knowledge. This literature review aims to explore the impact of picture books on the reading skills of elementary school students. A total of 10 scientific articles were selected based on criteria of relevance and quality from the years 2021–2025. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods through the stages of identification, selection, quality assessment, and synthesis of research findings. Reading literacy is viewed as the primary foundation in the educational process because it plays a role in developing the ability to understand, process, and interpret information. The study’s results indicate that various forms of visual media such as picture storybooks, Big Books, educational comics, illustrated texts, and pop-up books onsistently contribute to improving students’ early reading skills and reading comprehension. Visual media have been proven to support students’ cognitive processes through the combination of text and illustrations, thereby facilitating understanding, boosting motivation, strengthening memory, and fostering a love of reading. These findings also confirm that learning based on visual media makes the learning process more engaging, interactive, and contextual. The use of picture books is a valid strategy for improving reading and literacy skills taught in elementary schools.

Abstract

YULANDANI, NIT: 113307221039, 2026, “Analysis of Leakage in SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) Cylinder Regulator Connections to Improve Crew Safety on KM. Sirimau”. Supervised by Bayu Yudho Baskoro, S.S.T.Pel., M.Pd. and Elfira Wirza, S.Si., M.Sc.This study aims to identify the factors causing leakage in the regulator connection of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinder and to analyze its impact on the safety of crew members aboard KM. Sirimau. SCBA is an essential safety device used by crew members during emergency situations, such as fires and exposure to toxic smoke, so its condition and reliability must always be maintained. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants were the Chief Officer, Third Officer, and Bosun, who were directly involved in the use and maintenance of SCBA on board. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that leakage in the SCBA regulator connection was caused by gaps between the regulator and cylinder connection, inadequate inspection and maintenance practices, and operational errors. Such leakage reduces air supply, decreases SCBA performance, and increases safety risks for crew members during emergencies. Efforts to minimize these risks include routine inspections, maintenance according to established procedures, improved SCBA usage training, and stricter supervision of safety equipment conditions.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is one of the fundamental competencies students must acquire in elementary mathematics learning, particularly on the topic of mixed arithmetic operations of whole numbers. This study aimed to describe the numeracy literacy ability of fifth-grade students, identify the difficulties they experienced, and analyze the factors causing those difficulties in solving mixed arithmetic operation problems. This research used a qualitative descriptive method involving 24 fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Gunungtanjung, six of whom were selected through purposive sampling as the main subjects, together with the classroom teacher as a supporting informant. Data were collected through tests, observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, covering data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with verification. The results showed that students' numeracy literacy ability varied, with 45.83% of students in the high category, 33.33% in the moderate category, and 20.83% in the low category. Students still experienced difficulties in understanding word problems, determining solution strategies, performing mixed arithmetic operations in the correct order, and communicating final answers according to the context of the problem. These difficulties were caused by limited understanding of the problem text, an unstable mastery of mixed operation concepts, low attention and engagement during learning, and insufficient practice, with reading ability also emerging as a contributing factor for one student. These findings imply the need for more varied and gradual learning strategies to strengthen students' numeracy literacy.
