Abstract

Pelabuhan merupakan infrastruktur transportasi vital mendukung kegiatan perekonomian wilayah namun dapat menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan. Aktivitas operasional pelabuhan dapat menyebabkan polusi, udara, air, suara dan tanah serta kerusakan ekosistem hayati. Konsep pelabuhan ramah lingkungan (greenport) menjadi solusi dari pemerintah untuk meminimalkan dampak negatif dan menerapkan praktik-praktik ramah lingkungan dalam aspek operasionalnya. Namun implementasinya belum berjalan baik akibat kebingungan pengelola pelabuhan untuk memulai langkah awal pelaksanaan program. Booklet indikator greenport disusun dan disosialisasikan dan didistribusikan kepada pengelola pelabuhan. Masyarakat sekitar, pengguna jasa layanan dan kru kapal juga menjadi sasaran kegiatan. Selain sosialisasi, dilakukan penyebaran poster dan tempat-tempat sampah pada titik strategis pelabuhan. Dari kegiatan ini diperoleh peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran dari berbagai pihak terhadap peran keterlibatan dalam mewujudkan pelabuhan ramah lingkungan dan pengelola pelabuhan memiliki program untuk mewujudkan pelabuhan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

The development of autonomous ships signifies progress in the application of information and communication technology within the marine transportation industry. The readiness of various supporting aspects, such as ports, must accompany the operation of autonomous ships. As a maritime nation with numerous ports, Indonesia must begin to prepare for the changes in the maritime industry resulting from technological advancements that support autonomous ship operations. Teluk Bayur Port in West Sumatra, one of the ports in Indonesia, must be equipped to adapt to these changes. A crucial aspect of this preparation is the ability of the port authority and its employees to adjust to the impacts of technology implementation. This study aims to evaluate the readiness level of the port authority and its employees to adapt to the operations of autonomous ships. The research includes a survey conducted through the distribution of questionnaires, which are analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, measuring both organizational readiness and port authority employee readiness variables. Employee readiness is assessed through three indicators, while organizational readiness is evaluated through seven indicators. The results indicate that the average employee readiness score is good at 4.14, and organizational readiness is also satisfactory at 3.96, both in adapting to the changes brought about by technological advancements regarding autonomous ships. Despite both variables' overall positive average scores, several indicators require improvement. For employee readiness, there is a need to enhance knowledge about autonomous ships and the ability to prevent cybercrime. For organizational readiness, improvements should focus on organizational management, the quality of human resources, ICT facilities and infrastructure, and financial aspects.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how crew behavior affects shipping operational performance when maritime safety culture is used as a mediating variable. Using Flin's (2008) crew behavior instrument, Xi et al.'s (2025) safety culture instrument, and BIMCO Shipping's (2020) operational performance KPIs, data were collected through a questionnaire survey of 343 commercial ship crews in Indonesia, using a 1–5 Likert scale. External model testing (validity and reliability) and internal model testing (R2, f2, SRMR, and hypotheses) were conducted with SEM-PLS using SmartPLS 4. The results show that crew behavior has a significant impact on maritime safety culture (β = 0.936; p < 0.001). However, the direct impact on operational performance was small (β = 0.208; p < 0.018). These findings confirm that crew behavior only has an optimal impact when it is internalized into the organization's safety culture, so shipping companies need to strengthen safety policies, continuous training, safety-based leadership, and non-punitive reporting systems. Theoretically, this study expands the literature on safety management by showing that the ever-changing interaction between human elements and organizational culture determines how effective maritime organizations are.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that cause the difference in mooring service time between the Statement of Fact (SoF) issued by ITL Shipping Agency and the Pranota issued by PT Pelindo Balikpapan Branch. The research method employed was a qualitative method with a case study approach, with analysis conducted using fishbone diagrams to identify the gaps that emerged. The results of the study show that the main causes of time differences are seen from six aspects: Man, Machine, Method, Measurement, Material, and Mother Nature. This condition results in differences in the recording of mooring times, which have a direct effect on the calculation of mooring service costs and differences in bill values. This study emphasizes that improvement efforts need to be focused on improving the competence of Human Resources (HR), synchronizing the time recording system, strengthening the socialization of SOPs, optimizing document verification, and standardizing the time reference using UTC+08:00. These strategic steps are considered important to minimize time mismatches in the future and ensure the smooth and accurate process of mooring services at the Port of Balikpapan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of seat ring valve damage and its impact on the performance of the cargo oil pump aboard MT. Transko Antasena, as well as the efforts to overcome the issue. The research was motivated by a discharge delay during unloading of RON 90 cargo at Pare-Pare Port caused by leakage in the seat ring valve of tank 4P/S. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during the Sea Project period. Data were analyzed using the Fishbone diagram approach. The results show that the damage was caused by improper valve operation, component wear and corrosion, inconsistent SOP implementation, material limitations, environmental factors, and inadequate maintenance. The impacts include backflow, unstable pump pressure, decreased pump efficiency, discharge delays, and potential safety risks. Proposed solutions include improving crew competence, strengthening supervision, conducting routine maintenance, selecting appropriate materials, controlling environmental conditions, and optimizing the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). These efforts are expected to improve discharge efficiency and prevent similar incidents.

Abstract

The ISPS Code is a mandatory global standard aimed at mitigating maritime security risks, including Threats of terrorism and criminal activities on board ships. Although this regulation has been implemented, the increasing number of theft cases involving technical inventory and passengers’ belongings on vessels in Indonesia, including a theft incident on MV. Leuser in October 2025, indicates existing gaps in security procedures and monitoring controls while the ship is sailing and when it is berthed at high-risk ports. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using SWOT analysis to examine the Strengths, Weaknesses, opportunities, and Threats in the implementation of the ISPS Code on MV. Leuser.. The results show that the implementation of the ISPS Code on MV. Leuser complies with international standards, as reflected in the approved Ship Security Plan (SSP), restricted access to sensitive areas, gangway inspections, and the integration of surveillance systems. However, several technical Weaknesses were identified, including areas not covered by CCTV, insufficient nighttime lighting, and internal communication disruptions. Optimization efforts include strengthening coordination with port authorities and security agencies, utilizing more advanced surveillance technology, improving lighting facilities, and enhancing the quality and variation of Crew training.

Abstract

Cadets’ academic performance is commonly influenced by internal and external factors. The internal factor that mostly influences cadets’ academic performance is growth mindset, meanwhile the external factor is campus environment. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of growth mindset and campus environment on cadets' academic performance. This study is a quantitative study with an ex-post facto method. The research instrument was a questionnaire given to 100 participants. The data analysis technique used multiple linear analysis by using SPSS application. The results of the study showed that there was a positive effect of growth mindset and campus environment on cadets' academic performance. From the results of this study, it can be recommended that in order to improve cadets' academic performance, the learning curriculum must be able to develop cadets' thinking skills, and the campus environment must be conducive and supportive. Furthermore, institutions are advised to organize course or training programs that focus on developing cadets' thinking skills, so that cadets can be more proactive in learning activities and have growth mindset for the future. Although this study has been conducted optimally, there are several limitations that can be used as recommendations for future research. This study used a quantitative approach, further researchers are advised to use a qualitative or mix-method approach to explore more deeply the relationship between these three variables. In addition, further research needs to consider other factors that influence cadets' academic performance, such as intrinsic motivation, teaching quality, and family support.
