Abstract

The application of less varied learning models and media in early reading instruction has an impact on the low achievement of students' early reading skills. This study aims to determine the improvement of early reading skills of first-grade students through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using the PRABACA (Prasmanan Membaca) media at SDN 064974 Medan Tembung. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which includes a pre-cycle phase followed by three cycles: Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, and documentation study. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that the students' early reading ability in the pre-cycle phase revealed that out of 23 students, only 3 students achieved the minimum mastery criteria, with an average score of 38.5%. Therefore, the researcher continued to Cycle I. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 55.5%, with a classical mastery percentage of 35%. In Cycle II, the average score rose to 69.5%, with a classical mastery percentage of 61%. Further improvement was seen in Cycle III, with an average score of 88.5% and a classical mastery percentage of 91%. The percentage of students’ early reading skills improved in each cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the PBL model based on PRABACA (Prasmanan Membaca) media in Indonesian language learning for first-grade students at SDN 064974 Medan Tembung resulted in an improvement in students’ early reading skills.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability of the concept of summation in mathematics subjects using the media of number bags. Number Bag Media is a learning media that uses number bags that show the value of mathematical places and ice sticks to fill the bag as an indicator of the number of numbers. This study uses the Kurt Lewin model of Class Action Research (PTK) method of participant type which is carried out in 3 cycles, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The purpose of each cycle is to identify learning problems, implement planned actions, and evaluate the effectiveness of those actions. The formulation of the problem in this study is how effective the use of Number Pocket media is on the summation ability of grade 1B students of SD N 064974 Medan Tembung with the research subjects of 23 students. The results of the classroom action research obtained showed that in cycle 1 30.4% of students were completed, in cycle 2 52.17% of students were completed. Meanwhile, in cycle 3, 86.95% of students answered completely. It can be concluded that the use of number pocket media in mathematics learning of summation materials in grade 1B of SD N 064974 Medan Tembung shows a positive impact in increasing student involvement, understanding mathematical concepts, and developing students' numeracy skills effectively.

Abstract

Students in the classroom have different levels of ability, so teachers need to use appropriate learning approaches to help close knowledge gaps and improve thinking skills. Creative teaching that meets students' needs is essential. This study is a classroom action research that aims to improve student learning outcomes using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach combined with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The research was carried out at SD Negeri 064974 Medan during the even semester of the 2024/2025 school year with 21 students. It was conducted in three cycles. Data were collected through direct observation (peer assessment) by the observer and self-assessment by students during the learning process. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The success indicator was an improvement in average student learning outcomes in each cycle. Before the cycles began (pre-cycle), only 5% of students reached the minimum score. In Cycle 1, 14% of students (3 out of 21) achieved the complete score. In Cycle 2, the percentage rose to 48% (10 students). Finally, in Cycle 3, it increased to 71%, with 15 out of 21 students achieving the complete score. These results show that applying the TaRL approach together with the PBL model can significantly improve student learning outcomes, especially in learning about the human digestive system. The method helps address students’ individual needs and supports better engagement and understanding.

Abstract

The observation focused on the successful implementation of collaborative learning for students with special needs in inclusive elementary schools. The study highlighted the positive outcomes achieved through the collaboration between special teachers, homeroom teachers, and students with various disabilities. This collaborative approach supported the achievement of learning objectives in classrooms with both mainstream and special needs students, facilitating skills development and application of knowledge through peer learning. Co-teaching allowed educators to share knowledge, skills, and experiences, enhancing support and educational opportunities for students. The ongoing development of teachers' skills through collaborative learning and peer interaction during lessons was emphasized as a key benefit of this approach in providing enhanced support and education for all students.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach on the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at Pondok Pesantren PKPPS Wustha Hidayatul Qomariyah Bengkulu City during the 2024/2025 academic year. A true-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed to compare the effectiveness of PBL against traditional teaching methods. Participants were divided into experimental and control groups, with the experimental group receiving PBL instruction and the control group receiving traditional instruction. Speaking skills were assessed using pre-tests and post-tests. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, independent t-tests, and two-way ANOVA. The results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in the speaking skills of students who received PBL instruction compared to those who received traditional instruction. This finding suggests that PBL is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing speaking ability in this context.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Flipped Grouproom learning model on the reading ability of 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Bengkulu City in the 2024/2025 academic year. The background of the research is based on the students’ low motivation, lack of learning independence, and difficulty in understanding reading materials in English. The research method used was a true-experimental design with the Solomon Four Group design, involving two experimental group and two control group. The instrument used was a reading ability test consisting of pre-tests and post-tests. The results revealed a significant difference between students taught using the Flipped Grouproom model and those taught with conventional methods. The implementation of the Flipped Grouproom proved effective in enhancing students’ reading skills, increasing active engagement, and encouraging independent learning. These findings reinforce previous studies and contribute valuable insights into the development of innovative instructional strategies in English language teaching. The study recommends the Flipped Grouproom model as an effective alternative to improve students’ academic achievement, especially in reading ability.
