Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country rich in biodiversity, including various types of plants that have extraordinary benefits. One of the plants that is often underestimated yet holds great potential is cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica), especially its roots. This research aims to delve deeper into the various benefits of cogongrass roots, from health, economic, agricultural, to environmental aspects. The method used is a descriptive literature study by reviewing various relevant scientific literature sources. The study results show that alang-alang roots contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that have traditional medicinal properties, such as reducing fever, facilitating urination, and stabilizing blood pressure. In addition, the innovation of processing these roots into modern products such as chewing gum and herbal drink powder is considered to enhance their economic value. In the field of agriculture, cogongrass is also beneficial as organic mulch and a natural weed controller, and it can be used as a material for absorbing heavy metals in water. With its various advantages, the roots of cogongrass have the potential to become a natural solution that not only supports health but is also environmentally friendly. However, further research is still needed to ensure its safety and effectiveness as part of modern medicine. Keywords: cogongrass root, traditional medicine, herbal innovation, agriculture

Abstract

Classroom Action Research with the title of improving students' initial reading ability using the problem based learning (PBL) model assisted by word search media began with the low reading ability of students at SDN 060858 Medan. This study aims to find solutions to improve students' reading ability in class I of SDN 060858 Medan by using the problem based learning model assisted by word search media. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation and testing. This research method uses classroom action research consisting of 2 learning cycles. The stages of each cycle consist of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. After this research was conducted, it was found that each cycle in learning experienced an increase in students' reading ability and attracted students' attention in learning. In cycle I, the average student score was 62.85 with a completion percentage of 47.61%, then in cycle II it increased, namely with an average score of 81.90 with a completion percentage of 85.71%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of word search media in the problem based learning model can improve the reading skills of students in grade I of elementary school

Abstract

Market Day is an activity where students sell merchandise that has been made and then offered to other students, teachers and employees at the school. Every week, on Friday at SDIT Al-Bina Pangkalpinang, all classes take turns implementing the Market Day program. Market Day activities are one of the entrepreneurship education that seeks to foster students' entrepreneurial values ​​from an early age, especially student independence. Therefore, researchers are interested in studying and further researching the efforts made by schools in fostering entrepreneurial values ​​in SDIT Al-Bina Pangkalpinang students and the obstacles in its implementation.This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data is collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model of qualitative descriptive analysis. Activities in data analysis include data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The validity of the data is checked using triangulation techniques and sources. The results of research at SDIT Al-Bina Pangkalpinang, namely the Market Day program at SDIT Al-Bina Pangkalpinang, have been successful in fostering entrepreneurial values ​​in students through regular hands-on activities every Friday by involving all students in economic activities which include production, distribution and consumption activities. The entrepreneurial values developed in students are independence, creativity, courage to take risks, action orientation, leadership and hard work. In implementing Market Day activities at SDIT Al-Bina Pangkalpinang there were obstacles, but they did not become a barrier for the school to implement it.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the reading skills of first-grade students at SDN 066054 Medan through the use of the Reading Spinner media combined with the PBL model. The problem addressed was the low reading ability among students, with many experiencing difficulty in reading and showing low learning interest. Out of 20 students, only 7 had fluent reading skills, 6 had moderate skills, and 7 had low reading ability. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: “planning, action, observation, and reflection”. The results showed that the average student score after using the Reading Spinner was 80.8, compared to a previous average of 60.41 before its implementation. This indicates a significant improvement in students’ reading skills as a result of using the Reading Spinner. The improvement was evident from the progress observed between the first and second cycles. The use of Reading Spinner media, combined with a PBL approach, proved effective in enhancing students’ reading abilities and engagement. Therefore, this method is recommended for teachers aiming to foster better literacy outcomes among early grade learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Cooperative Learning tipe Think Pair Share pada pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Bab 6 Tersesat topik “Kalimat Anjuran dan Kalimat Larangan” di kelas kelas III UPT SD Negeri 065012 Medan Tuntungan Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Jenis penelitian yag digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) atau Classroom Action Research (CAR). Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus dan menggunakan empat tahapan dalam pelaksanaan penelitian tindakan kelas, dengan subjek penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas III UPT SDN 065012 Medan Tuntungan berjumlah 19 siswa dengan 9 siswa laki-laki dan 10 siswa perempuan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Tes analisis data yang digunakan berupa data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari persentase ketuntasan hasil belajar individual pada pretest yaitu 4 siswa yang tuntas secara klasikal 21% dengan nilai rata-rata 56,05. Pada siklus I secara individual yaitu 9 siswa yang tuntas, secara klasikal 47,63% dengan rata-rata 67,63. Pada siklus II secara individual yaitu 17 siswa yang tuntas, secara klasikal 89,47% dengan rata-rata 83,42. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus I sampai siklus II mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa melalui penggunaan permainan ular tangga sebagai media pembelajaran pada siswa Kelas V UPT SDN 065012 Medan Tuntungan Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari empat tahapan. Subjek penelitian adalah 16 siswa, terdiri dari 9 laki-laki dan 7 perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada hasil belajar siswa setelah penerapan media pembelajaran ular tangga. Pada tahap pra-siklus, hanya 4 siswa (25%) yang mencapai tingkat ketuntasan minimal dengan nilai rata-rata 55. Pada siklus I, ketuntasan belajar meningkat menjadi 10 siswa (62,5%) dengan rata-rata nilai 68, dan pada siklus II, sebanyak 13 siswa (81,25%) mencapai ketuntasan dengan nilai rata-rata 81,68. Observasi terhadap kinerja guru juga menunjukkan peningkatan, dari 82% (kategori baik) pada siklus I menjadi 98% (kategori sangat baik) pada siklus II. Aktivitas siswa meningkat dari 78% (kategori baik) menjadi 92% (kategori sangat baik). Penggunaan permainan ular tangga dalam pembelajaran terbukti dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dan menciptakan suasana kelas yang menyenangkan dan interaktif. Selain itu, media ini juga berkontribusi pada pengembangan keterampilan sosial siswa. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran ular tangga efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa Kelas V UPT SDN 065012 Medan Tuntungan pada Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes on the topic of flora and fauna in Grade V at SD 1 Sadang through the implementation of the Guided Inquiry learning model with pop-up book media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 19 fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the application of the Guided Inquiry model accompanied by pop-up book media significantly improved students’ learning outcomes in both cognitive and psychomotor domains. The percentage of cognitive mastery increased from 26% in the pre-cycle to 42% in the first cycle and 79% in the second cycle. Meanwhile, students’ process skills also improved from 53% to 84%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Guided Inquiry model with pop-up book media can enhance IPAS learning outcomes for Grade V students at SD 1 Sadang.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade 2 students of UPT SDN 064974 Medan on multiplication material through game-based learning. This method is expected to increase student involvement, facilitate understanding of multiplication concepts, and improve their learning outcomes with three cycles involving 23 students. In the pre-cycle stage, mathematics learning outcomes showed an average score of 46 with a completion rate of 25%. In cycle I, there was an increase in the average score to 58, with a completion rate reaching 35%. After the implementation of cycle II, there was an increase in the average score to 64, with a completion rate reaching 47%. There was a significant increase after the implementation of cycle III, with an average score reaching 88 and a completion rate of 90%. These results indicate that using game-based learning with multiplication smart board media effectively improves the mathematics learning outcomes of grade 2 students at UPT SD N 064974 Medan

Abstract

Abstract:Tsunami is one of the natural disasters that has a very large destructive power, both to humans, the environment, and infrastructure. Indonesia as a country located on the Pacific Ring of Fire is very vulnerable to tsunamis due to high seismic activity in this region. This study aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the definition, causes, impacts, and steps for mitigating and overcoming tsunami disasters. In addition, this study also highlights the importance of community preparedness, the role of early warning systems, and post-disaster trauma healing efforts. The writing method is carried out through literature studies and descriptive analysis of disaster conditions in Indonesia. The results of the study show that there are still many challenges in reducing the risk of tsunamis, especially the low level of disaster education and supporting infrastructure. Therefore, it is necessary to increase awareness, education, and collaboration between the government, related institutions, and the community in efforts to prevent and overcome tsunami disasters as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Indonesian language instruction through the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in class XI-2 at SMAN 14 Medan. The main issue addressed is students’ low comprehension of the structure and language of scientific writing, which stems from varied learning abilities that are not adequately accommodated by conventional teaching methods. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through a diagnostic test (pre-test), observations, and learning outcome assessments. In Cycle I, the learning focused on analyzing the structure of scientific texts, while in Cycle II, the focus shifted to the linguistic features of scientific texts on the theme of environmental conservation in North Sumatra. The findings showed that the TaRL approach significantly improved the students' average scores from 68.09 in the pre-test to 75.15 in Cycle I and 86.97 in Cycle II, with the learning mastery rate increasing from 55.9% to 100%. Beyond cognitive gains, a notable improvement in student learning attitudes was observed, particularly among students initially categorized as “emerging”. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the TaRL approach is effective for use in heterogeneous classrooms to enhance learning outcomes and active student participation.
