Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model based on the traditional game Martumba on the psychomotor learning outcomes in dance arts of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 019 Lumban Purba. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 38 students, including 19 students in the experimental class and 19 students in the control class. Data were collected using observation techniques through psychomotor assessment sheets. The results showed that the average pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class increased from 61.84 to 85.90, while in the control class they increased from 59.40 to 77.07. The hypothesis testing using the t-test indicated that t_count > t_table (5.56 > 2.02), meaning that Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, the STAD cooperative learning model based on the traditional game Martumba has a significant effect on students' psychomotor learning outcomes in dance arts.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism is a crucial factor in improving the quality of education, particularly at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) and elementary school (SD) levels. In practice, the development of professionalism is not solely dependent on individual capabilities but is also influenced by teacher collaboration and participation in Teacher Learning Communities. This study aims to analyze teachers’ perceptions of professionalism and examine the role of collaboration and Teacher Learning Communities in enhancing teacher professionalism. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of the study are MI/SD teachers involved in collaborative activities and learning communities, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that teachers have a comprehensive understanding of professionalism, encompassing competencies, attitudes, and a commitment to continuous learning. Teacher collaboration through discussions, teamwork, and experience sharing has been shown to improve teaching competence and reflective practices. Furthermore, Teacher Learning Communities significantly contribute to fostering a sustainable learning culture and enhancing teachers’ confidence in teaching. Therefore, collaboration and Teacher Learning Communities play an essential role in supporting teacher professionalism at the MI/SD level.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven changes in the learning process across various levels of education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, in practice, PAI learning is still often dominated by conventional methods such as lectures, memorization, and assignments, resulting in low student participation in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of the use of conventional teaching methods in PAI learning in Grade VII at State Islamic Junior High School 1 Palembang and to propose a solution through training teachers in the use of exemplary video media. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving teachers of Arabic, Qur’an Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic Cultural History (SKI), and Aqidah Akhlak. The results show that the dominance of lecture-based methods leads to low student participation in the learning process. The use of exemplary video media has been proven to enhance students’ learning motivation, improve their understanding of the material, and provide concrete examples in instilling Islamic values. Training teachers in the use of video media also plays a significant role in improving their pedagogical competence and digital literacy in developing innovative and contextual learning.Thus, the utilization of exemplary video media can serve as an innovative strategy to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of an Active Smart Classroom model to improve learning outcomes and physical movement activity in elementary school students. This research was conducted using a classroom action research (CAR) approach carried out at SDN 7 Salotungo, Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi, involving 28 students in grade IV as research subjects. The research procedure was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the implementation of the Active Smart Classroom model significantly improved student learning outcomes, with the average score rising from 61.4 (pre-cycle) to 74.8 (Cycle I) and 87.3 (Cycle II), exceeding the KKM of 75. Physical activity of students also increased significantly, where the percentage of active students rose from 42.8% in the pre-cycle to 71.4% in Cycle I and 89.3% in Cycle II. It is concluded that the Active Smart Classroom model is effective in improving both cognitive learning outcomes and physical movement activity of elementary school students simultaneously

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the storytelling method in Islamic Cultural History learning to increase student enthusiasm and retention at an Islamic Elementary School (MI) in Pekalongan Regency. The background to this research stems from low student interest in Islamic Cultural History lessons, which are often delivered monotonously, resulting in students being less active and having difficulty remembering the material. The storytelling method is considered capable of creating an interactive and meaningful learning atmosphere through the power of stories in conveying historical and religious values. This study used a qualitative literature approach with a literature review method. The research subjects were MI students, and data were collected through several journal references and articles. Data analysis was conducted thematically with a focus on increasing student enthusiasm and retention. The results showed that the application of storytelling had a positive impact on student learning motivation. Stories about Islamic figures, told expressively, captured students' attention and built emotional engagement, thus facilitating their recall of historical events. In conclusion, the storytelling method has proven effective in improving the quality of Islamic History learning, particularly in terms of student engagement and memory retention.

Abstract

This study analyzes discipline and honesty character values in the animated film Titipo season 3 episode 10 "This Is Not Fair Manny" using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic triangle approach (sign, object, interpretant). Employing a qualitative descriptive method, primary data from dialogues, visual scenes, questionnaires from 21 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Gandikan, and interviews with fourth-grade teacher Ibu Levina Ayu Lestari, S.Pd., were analyzed to uncover verbal and nonverbal signs embodying these values. Findings reveal discipline portrayed through Diesel's team responsibility, Manny's perseverance in training to overcome fears, and Diesel's resilience against obstacles; while honesty is depicted via Manny's emotional admission about the rhinoceros, Diesel's frustration outburst, Greeny's clarification, and Manny's apology fostering trust. Titipo proves effective as an elementary school learning medium due to its dynamic visuals captivating digital-native children, enabling repeated imitation of positive values, though teacher supervision is essential. Student questionnaires (average agreement) and teacher interviews affirm Titipo's potential as an innovative character education alternative, aligning with Indonesia's National Education System Law No. 20/2003.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of local language use, particularly the Dawan (Uab Meto) language, on students’ learning motivation at SD GMIT Fatunisuan, Miomaffo Barat District. The research is grounded in the linguistic realities of rural settings where students are more familiar with their mother tongue than with Bahasa Indonesia, the national language used as the formal medium of instruction. Such a situation often leads to difficulties in comprehension, low classroom participation, and decreased motivation to learn. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of two teachers and several fourth-grade students. The findings reveal that integrating local language into classroom instruction enhances students’ psychological comfort, strengthens teacher-student interaction, and promotes active participation during learning activities. Students demonstrated greater enthusiasm, confidence, and willingness to learn when the lessons were delivered using a language familiar to their everyday lives. The results confirm that the use of local language in learning has a positive and significant influence on students’ motivation. These findings suggest that educational policies in multilingual contexts should allow contextual use of mother tongues as an instructional strategy that not only supports academic understanding but also contributes to the preservation of local cultural identity.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the low level of students’ learning activity and learning outcomes in science (IPAS) subjects at elementary school. The purpose of this research was to develop a digital comic media integrated with interactive quizzes to improve students’ learning activity and learning outcomes. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using a development model consisting of several stages, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade elementary school students, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest), and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including N-Gain analysis and hypothesis testing using MANOVA. The results showed that the developed digital comic media was valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ learning activity and learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the increase in students’ posttest scores compared to pretest scores, as well as higher learning activity in the experimental group compared to the control group. Furthermore, the MANOVA test results showed a significant effect with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, with Pillai’s Trace = 0.807 and F = 77.257, indicating a simultaneous significant effect on students’ learning activity and learning outcomes. The univariate test also showed significant results for learning activity (F = 4.953; Sig. = 0.032) and learning outcomes (F = 155.817; Sig. = 0.000). Therefore, the digital comic media integrated with interactive quizzes can be used as an innovative learning medium to support effective science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of students’ literacy and numeracy skills in Indonesia, which is influenced by a learning culture that is still oriented toward textbooks and the limited implementation of pedagogical strategies that support higher-order thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the literacy and numeracy competencies of eighth-grade junior high school students systematically. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method involving 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire covering indicators of conceptual understanding, information interpretation, data analysis, and decision-making. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores and percentages. The results indicate that the overall average score of students’ literacy and numeracy skills is 63,6%, which falls into the moderate category. Students’ literacy skills are relatively higher, particularly in conceptual understanding (72,3%) and information interpretation (68,1%), while numeracy skills remain lower, especially in data analysis (58,7%) and data-based decision-making (55,2%). These findings reveal a gap between students’ ability to understand textual information and their ability to process numerical and visual data. Therefore, improvements in instructional practices are needed, particularly those that emphasize analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) programme as a school-based intervention in strengthening students’ emotional literacy in primary schools, as well as its potential adaptation within the context of primary education in Indonesia. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review with a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the programme contributes positively to students’ ability to develop emotional literacy. However, its implementation faces several challenges. Overall, the programme is considered relevant to the Indonesian primary education context, yet it requires contextual adaptation, strengthening of human resources, and integration into school culture in order to be implemented effectively and sustainably.
