Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Living Literacy Tree media in improving the literacy skills of elementary school students. Literacy skills are essential competencies that students must possess because they are related to the ability to read, write, understand information, and convey ideas appropriately. However, low reading interest and the lack of engaging learning media remain obstacles in literacy learning at the elementary school level. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and elementary school students. In addition, the study was supported by literature reviews from various relevant scientific sources. The results showed that the use of the Living Literacy Tree was able to increase students’ participation in reading and writing activities, foster reading interest, and help students better understand reading materials. This media also created a more active, creative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere because students were able to display their literacy work in the classroom. Besides improving literacy skills, the Living Literacy Tree also helped develop students’ critical thinking skills and cooperation. Therefore, the Living Literacy Tree can be considered an effective alternative learning media to support literacy activities in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the field reality regarding the low reading interest among 4th-grade students at SDN.037729 Sinarpagi. Students prefer playing outside the classroom during their free time and have not utilized the existing library facilities at the school. This study aims to determine the effect of a literacy program that utilizes the library on increasing students' reading interest. This research uses a quantitative design by comparing one group (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The participants in this study were all 14 students in the 4th grade. Data collection was carried out using reading interest questionnaires distributed before the program started and after the program ran routinely. The calculation results showed that the average score of students' reading interest initially was 21.78 and increased to 28.00 at the end of the activity. The calculation of the results using the N-Gain formula shows a number of 0.34, which is in the moderate category. The conclusion of this research is that the reading program utilizing the school library is proven to have a good and real effect in increasing the reading interest of 4th-grade students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze innovations in the Social Studies (IPS) curriculum in response to contemporary social dynamics, as well as to examine their forms, theoretical foundations, implementation, and the challenges faced. The method used is a literature review (library research) with a qualitative-descriptive approach, analyzing various relevant scientific sources indexed in SINTA and reputable international databases. The research results indicate that IPS curriculum innovation is necessary to bridge the gap between learning materials and the social realities of students. Forms of innovation include the integration of digital technology, a contextual approach based on social issues, the development of 21st- century competencies, and an interdisciplinary approach. The theoretical foundations of this innovation are constructivism, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and the interdisciplinary approach. The implementation of these innovations faces challenges such as limited teacher competencies, resistance to change, disparities in facilities, and misconceptions regarding curriculum content. In conclusion, social studies curriculum innovation is an urgent necessity that requires synergy among teachers, institutions, policymakers, and the community so that social studies learning becomes more contextual, adaptive, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of students’ tolerance attitudes and learning outcomes in the Pancasila Education subject, particularly in the Aku Anak Indonesia material, as well as the suboptimal use of technology in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-assisted flashcard learning medium and to examine its acceptability, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the tolerance attitudes and learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Sinabun. This research employed a development research method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The acceptability test involved two experts, the practicality test involved two teachers and students, while the effectiveness test employed a pretest-posttest control group design analyzed using MANOVA. The results showed that the developed media had a very high level of acceptability, with an average score of 3.91 (very valid). The practicality test results indicated percentages of 97.5% and 95% from teachers and 89% from students, which were categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test revealed that the AR-assisted flashcard media had a significant effect on students’ tolerance attitudes (F = 719.206; p < 0.05) and learning outcomes (F = 69.041; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, the media was also proven effective in improving tolerance attitudes and learning outcomes, with a significance value of 0.000 and a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.957. Therefore, the Augmented Reality-assisted flashcard media was declared valid, practical, and effective for use in teaching the Aku Anak Indonesia topic in Pancasila Education for third-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Motor disorders are one of the developmental impairments that can affect children's ability to perform movements, coordination, balance, and daily functional activities. In the context of special needs education, motor disorders not only impact physical functioning but also influence children's independence, learning participation, social interaction, and psychological development. This article aims to examine two types of motor disorders commonly discussed in special and inclusive education, namely dyspraxia and cerebral palsy. The study employed a library research approach by reviewing relevant theories and scientific literature in the fields of developmental psychology, special education, and child rehabilitation. The findings indicate that dyspraxia and cerebral palsy have distinct characteristics but both significantly affect gross motor skills, fine motor skills, coordination, and children's participation in educational and social environments. Dyspraxia is primarily associated with difficulties in motor planning and execution, whereas cerebral palsy is a neuromotor disorder resulting from brain injury or abnormalities during early brain development. The study further highlights the importance of understanding the characteristics and needs of children with motor disorders to support appropriate educational interventions and developmental assistance. Collaboration among teachers, parents, and professionals is essential to promote inclusive learning environments and optimize children's participation, independence, and overall quality of life.

Abstract

This article discusses three major educational philosophies, namely rationalism, empiricism, and constructivism, and their relevance to the learning process at SMPN 51 Merangin. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of these three philosophical approaches in supporting effective, meaningful, and student-centered learning in the modern educational era. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method by collecting data from various sources, including books, scientific journals, and relevant educational documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that rationalism plays an important role in developing students' logical and systematic thinking skills, empiricism provides direct learning experiences through observation and experimentation, while constructivism emphasizes students' active involvement in constructing their own knowledge through social interaction and reflection. These three approaches complement one another in improving the quality of learning at SMPN 51 Merangin. However, their implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited facilities, differences in students' abilities, and learning habits that remain relatively passive. Therefore, the integration of these three educational philosophies is essential to create active, creative, and meaningful learning experiences.
