Abstract

The low level of student creativity in the digital classroom at MIN 3 Lhokseumawe, caused by the predominance of lecture-based teaching and a lack of interactive digital media, served as the background for this study. The objectives of this study are to: (1) describe how the Canva-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model is implemented in digital learning; (2) examine the increase in student creativity following the implementation of this model; and (3) examine the differences in learning creativity between students using the Canva-based PjBL model and those using traditional learning techniques. This study employed a pretest-posttest control group design, a quasi-experimental method, and a quantitative methodology. Sixty fifth-grade students from MIN 3 Lhokseumawe served as the research sample. Thirty students in the experimental class used a Canva-based PjBL methodology, while the other thirty students in the control class used traditional teaching methods. Exams and interviews were used as data collection methods. The results of the study showed that: (1) Student creativity increased after implementing the Canva-based PjBL model in a digital classroom, with the pre-test average score of 46.7 rising to 62.6 on the post-test (an increase of 15.9 points); (2) there was a significant difference in learning creativity between students who used the Canva-based PjBL model and those who used conventional learning, with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) and an effect size of 0.945 (large category). Thus, in digital classrooms, the Canva-based PjBL approach significantly and positively enhances students’ learning creativity.

Abstract

Improving educational quality is one of the major challenges faced by Islamic educational institutions in responding to contemporary developments and societal demands. One approach that can be employed to achieve sustainable quality enhancement is the implementation of continuous improvement as a core principle of Total Quality Management (TQM). This study aims to examine the implementation of continuous improvement in Islamic education, identify the factors that support and hinder its implementation, and analyze its relevance to Islamic values. This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through documentation studies of various academic sources, including books, journal articles, previous research findings, and other relevant documents. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of continuous improvement in Islamic education is carried out through continuous processes of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up actions across various aspects of educational management. Its success is influenced by visionary leadership, stakeholder participation, supportive organizational culture, and the effective use of technology. Furthermore, the concept of continuous improvement is closely aligned with Islamic values, particularly ihsan (excellence), itqan (professionalism), muhasabah (self-evaluation), and islah (improvement), which emphasize ongoing efforts toward quality enhancement. Therefore, the implementation of continuous improvement can serve as an effective strategy for developing a sustainable quality culture in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Human resource management is a crucial factor in determining the quality and success of educational institutions, including those in the context of Islamic education. However, human resource management practices in educational institutions often remain oriented toward modern managerial approaches that emphasize administrative efficiency and have not yet fully integrated Islamic values as their primary foundation. This study aims to analyze and formulate a concept of human resource management in Islamic education based on Islamic values through a literature review approach. This study employs a library research method with data collection techniques involving a literature review of various primary and secondary sources, such as the Qur'an, hadith, scholarly books, and relevant journal articles. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify, categorize, and synthesize the main concepts related to human resource management in Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that human resource management in Islamic education not only encompasses managerial functions such as planning, recruitment, development, and evaluation but must also be grounded in Islamic values such as amanah, ‘adl (justice), syura (consultation), ihsan, itqan, and mas’uliyyah (accountability). The integration of these values forms a holistic human resource management model that combines professionalism, ethics, and spirituality within a single management framework. This study is expected to provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic Education Management studies and serve as a practical reference for Islamic educational institutions in building a high-quality, religious, and public-interest-oriented human resource management system.

Abstract

Global disparities continue to represent a critical issue in contemporary society, particularly regarding differences in economic development, educational access, technological advancement, and social well-being among developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries. These conditions emphasize the need to cultivate global social empathy from an early age through education. This article aims to investigate the contribution of elementary schools in promoting students’ awareness and empathy toward global social issues through a literature review. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach by examining and synthesizing findings from scholarly articles, books, and educational policy documents relevant to global inequality and elementary education. The review demonstrates that elementary schools have an important role in introducing students to issues such as poverty, unequal educational opportunities, cultural diversity, and social justice. The incorporation of global perspectives into classroom learning, character education, and multicultural practices can encourage students to develop empathy, tolerance, and a sense of responsibility toward others. In addition, learning activities that promote critical thinking, cooperation, and reflection enable students to better understand the interconnected nature of global challenges. The findings suggest that strengthening global social empathy within elementary education can support the development of responsible and inclusive global citizens. Therefore, integrating global awareness and social empathy into elementary school learning is essential for preparing future generations to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable world.

Abstract

The discourse on Islamic Science remains a crucial endeavor in deconstructing the dominance of secular Western epistemology. This article aims to compare the thought of Ziauddin Sardar the pioneer of the Ijmali school who emphasizes value-laden science and futures studies with the mapping of views held by Indonesian Muslim intellectuals. Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative method through library research, this study analyzes how foundational Islamic principles such as Tawhid (the unity of God), the limits of knowledge, and the realities of modern science (e.g., quantum mechanics) are addressed by both subjects. The findings indicate that while Sardar operates on a macro-epistemological level and systemic ethics, Indonesian Muslim intellectuals tend to adopt a pragmatic-integrative approach, embedding Islamic values directly into the curriculum and institutional frameworks of modern science. This comparison opens a new space for dialogue on how the future of Islamic Science can be concretely realized without falling into past romanticism or a blind rejection of Western science

Abstract

Yogurt is a fermented dairy product widely consumed for its nutritional value and health benefits. This study aims to analyze the organoleptic characteristics of fermented yogurt produced during a food biotechnology laboratory session at the University of Lampung. Two yogurt samples were produced using different starter cultures: Sample A used two bacterial strains (Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus), while Sample B used four bacterial strains, adding Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium. Organoleptic evaluation was conducted on four parameters: color, aroma, taste, and texture. Results showed that both samples produced white-colored yogurt, a sour and fresh aroma, and a sour-savory-milky taste. However, Sample B exhibited a more pronounced sour aroma and taste, along with a slightly thinner yet still viscous texture compared to Sample A. These differences are attributed to the increased metabolic activity of the four-bacteria combination, which produced greater amounts of lactic acid and volatile compounds. This study demonstrates that starter culture composition significantly influences the organoleptic profile of yogurt produced in an educational laboratory setting.

Abstract

This study evaluates the gaps in the implementation of authentic assessment in the affective and psychomotor domains in elementary school science education through a phenomenological study of teachers’ experiences. Although authentic assessment ideally measures students’ abilities in real-world contexts, its application in non-cognitive domains faces various challenges. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study explores the experiences of eight elementary school science teachers in an urban area who were purposively selected. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using Van Manen’s interpretive method. The findings indicate that teachers possess a conceptual understanding of the importance of authentic assessment; however, there is a significant gap between this understanding and classroom practice. Major barriers include time constraints, a lack of ongoing training, large class sizes, limited resources, and the pressure of a dense curriculum. Teachers tend to focus on cognitive assessment, while the affective and psychomotor domains are assessed informally and less systematically. This gap impacts students’ holistic development and the quality of science learning. This study recommends supportive policies, targeted teacher training, and the development of practical assessment instruments for the affective and psychomotor domains.
