Abstract

ABSTRACT Character education in higher education faces serious challenges due to youth moral degradation and digital disruption that shifts exemplary values. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of character education among Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students at K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid State Islamic University (UIN Gusdur) Pekalongan. The method employed is qualitative with a library research approach, supported by content analysis techniques on primary and secondary sources. The results show that the implementation of character education at UIN Gusdur Pekalongan adopts an integrative-holistic model through two main channels: formal curriculum (explicit curriculum) integrating character values in semester learning plans, and hidden curriculum utilizing the campus ecosystem and academic culture. The main values internalized include religious moderation (wasathiyah), tolerance, and academic integrity. Despite facing challenges from post-truth phenomena, echo chambers, and decreased face-to-face interaction, the implementation is optimized through collaborative strategies involving lecturers, study program leaders, and student organizations, as well as authentic evaluation based on behavioral observation and self-reflection portfolios. This study recommends strengthening the role of lecturers as digital mentors and revitalizing physical dialogical spaces to maximize exemplary processes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of critical thinking skills among students in mathematics lessons on the area of a square in Class IV C at SD Negeri 34 Pontianak Selatan. The objective of this study is to improve students’ critical thinking skills through the application of a differentiation-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 26 students. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the differentiation-based PBL model was effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. The percentage of students demonstrating mastery of critical thinking skills increased from 23% in the pre-cycle to 35% in Cycle I and reached 81% in Cycle II. In addition, student learning activities also increased from 70% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. This improvement occurred because learning was centered on contextual problem-solving and the provision of learning services tailored to students’ needs and abilities. Thus, the implementation of a differentiated Problem-Based Learning model proved effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics lessons on the area of a square.

Abstract

This study examines Indonesian language as a digital state defense instrument amid echo chambers and AI-based disinformation in Indonesia. Social media algorithms create personalized information spaces that reduce information diversity and strengthen social polarization. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence technologies such as generative AI and deepfakes increase the spread of misleading content that is difficult to verify. The purpose of this study is to analyze echo chamber dynamics, AI-based disinformation, and the role of Indonesian language in strengthening national identity and information resilience. This research uses a qualitative literature review method by analyzing 25 national journals published between 2021 and 2026 through content analysis. Findings show that algorithmic systems intensify information fragmentation and polarization, while AI accelerates disinformation production and weakens public trust. Indonesian language plays a strategic role in improving digital literacy, communication clarity, and national awareness. The study concludes that Indonesian language is important for digital state defense in facing echo chambers and AI-driven disinformation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the supervision carried out by the Jambi City Department of Trade and Industry in the distribution of 3 kg subsidized LPG in Paal Merah District. The study is based on Regional Regulation No. 10 of 2013 concerning the control and supervision of LPG distribution. A descriptive qualitative method was employed using observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis adopted Robbins and Coulter’s supervision stages: setting standards, measurement, comparison, and corrective action. The findings indicate that supervision has been implemented through socialization, monitoring, and guidance for agents and distributors. However, it remains ineffective due to mistargeted distribution, the use of subsidized LPG by higher-income households, limited human resources, and non-compliance by some distributors. These issues have generated public complaints. The study concludes that stronger supervision and stricter enforcement are required to ensure effective and targeted LPG distribution.

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability is a fundamental competency in mathematics learning that allows students to relate mathematical concepts to one another and to real-life situations. However, this ability remains low among Indonesian elementary school students, as evidenced by the 2022 PISA results in which nearly 0% of Indonesian students reached proficiency at the mathematical connection level (Level 5–6). Preliminary observations at State Elementary Schools in Rawamangun Subdistrict also revealed that instruction was predominantly conventional, with student worksheets that did not support the development of mathematical connection ability. This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest-posttest two-group control design to examine the effect of the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model on the mathematical connection ability of fourth-grade students, reinforced by contextual visual-manipulative student worksheets (LKPD). A total of 63 students participated: 31 in the experimental class (MMP model) and 32 in the control class (Expository model). Data collection was carried out through a structured essay test of 10 items validated theoretically and empirically. The Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), with the experimental class mean post-test score (31.58) exceeding the control class (25.56). The N-Gain score of the experimental class (68.55%) was higher than the control class (49.97%). These results indicate that the MMP model positively and significantly influences the mathematical connection ability of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical word problems is an essential skill that primary school students must possess, as it involves understanding the problem, planning a solution, carrying out calculations, and drawing conclusions. However, in practice, many students still make errors in solving mathematical word problems. This study aims to analyze the types of errors made by fifth-grade elementary school students in solving mathematical word problems and to identify the factors causing these errors. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Newman Error Analysis stages, which include reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and encoding errors. The results show that students made errors at all stages of problem solving, with the most dominant error occurring at the comprehension stage. The factors causing these errors include a lack of conceptual understanding, difficulty in interpreting problem language, and lack of accuracy in calculations. The findings of this study are expected to serve as an evaluation for improving mathematics instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the basic concepts of educational supervision, its functions and approaches, and the principles that support its effective and professional implementation. The paper was written using library research through analysis of various relevant scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that educational supervision is a professional service oriented towards improving the quality of learning and developing teacher competencies through a humanistic, collaborative, and data-driven approach. Philosophically, supervision has shifted from a power-over paradigm to a power-with paradigm, which positions teachers as partners in the development process. Supervision also has research, assessment, improvement, and development functions using various approaches, such as directive, collaborative, non-directive, and clinical. To be effective, supervision must be implemented based on scientific, democratic, cooperative, constructive, creative, practical, and comprehensive principles. Thus, educational supervision is expected to enhance teacher professionalism and create a quality and sustainable educational environment.
