Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools still faces various challenges, particularly the low student learning outcomes caused by limited student involvement in the learning process and the lack of engaging instructional media. This condition was also found among fourth-grade students at SDN 02 Bengkayang, where mathematics achievement remained below the established minimum mastery criteria. This study aimed to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model assisted by Edukulbo media. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of SDN 02 Bengkayang. Data were collected through observation and learning achievement tests. The research instruments included observation sheets for teacher and student activities as well as mathematics achievement test items. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques through the calculation of averages and learning mastery percentages. The results indicated that the implementation of the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by Edukulbo media successfully improved students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The improvement was reflected in the increase in the class average scores and the percentage of learning mastery in each cycle compared to the pre-action condition. Furthermore, student participation during the learning process increased as students became more actively engaged in discussions, collaboration, and classroom learning activities. Therefore, the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by Edukulbo media can be considered an effective alternative instructional approach for improving elementary school students’ mathematics learning outcomes, particularly in learning three-dimensional geometry concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of learning difficulties and the factors causing learning difficulties in multiplication and division arithmetic operations among fifth-grade students at SDN 08 Timonong. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The participants consisted of 14 fifth-grade students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected through observations, tests, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed four major forms of learning difficulties experienced by students, namely difficulties in understanding word problems, procedural errors in solving multiplication and division problems, weak mastery of basic mathematical concepts, and low levels of motivation and learning concentration. Furthermore, the factors causing these difficulties were classified into internal and external factors. Internal factors included limited mastery of prerequisite concepts, low learning motivation, and lack of concentration during learning activities. External factors consisted of limited parental assistance at home, insufficient variation in instructional methods and learning media, and inadequate educational facilities. The study concludes that learning difficulties in multiplication and division are influenced by a combination of cognitive, motivational, instructional, and environmental factors. Therefore, collaborative efforts among teachers, parents, and schools are needed to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Differentiated instruction is a key pillar of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Freedom Curriculum) designed to accommodate the diverse needs, interests, and learning profiles of elementary school students. Despite policy implementation since 2022, field-level challenges remain uncomprehensively synthesized. This study aims to: (1) identify the concepts and principles of differentiated instruction within the Kurikulum Merdeka framework; (2) map evidence-based implementation strategies; and (3) describe challenges and solutions supported by empirical evidence. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA protocol was employed. Searches across Google Scholar, GARUDA, and DOAJ databases yielded 248 articles; after four-stage screening, 25 articles indexed in Sinta 1–4 (2022–2026) were included. Results reveal three differentiation dimensions content, process, and product that must be implemented in an integrated manner grounded in diagnostic assessment. Eight strategies proved effective, led by flexible grouping (cited in 18/25 articles) and beginning-of-unit diagnostic assessment (19/25 articles). The greatest challenge is limited teacher pedagogical competence, addressable through lesson study–based professional learning communities and the Merdeka Mengajar platform. This review produces evidence-based synthesis directly applicable to teachers, school principals, and policymakers seeking to optimize differentiated instruction at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the general patterns of language variation as a prominent sociolinguistic phenomenon in multilingual societies. Language variation reflects the social, cultural, and identity dynamics of its speakers. The fact that even speakers who share the same mother tongue use different linguistic forms demonstrates how complex and systematic this phenomenon is. Utilizing a descriptive-qualitative approach and a literature review method, this study identifies six main patterns of language variation: (1) speaker-based variation (idiolect, dialect, and sociolect); (2) situational variation (formal and informal registers); (3) geographical variation; (4) age-based variation (chronolect); (5) variation based on communication media; and (6) variation based on group identity. The results of the study show that language variation is not merely a deviation from the norm, but rather an adaptive strategy used by speakers in response to various social contexts. These findings align with the perspective developed by researchers at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, who emphasize the role of language as a marker of social and cultural identity.

Abstract

The use of digital learning media has become increasingly important in supporting learning in elementary schools. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital learning media on students’ learning outcomes through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The review followed the PRISMA guidelines by analyzing articles published between 2020 and 2025 from accredited national and international journals. The findings show that digital learning media, such as interactive multimedia, educational videos, learning applications, and online platforms, generally improve students’ learning outcomes, motivation, and classroom engagement. The effectiveness of these media depends on their appropriate implementation according to learning objectives and students’ characteristics. Therefore, digital learning media can be an effective alternative to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Reading literacy is a fundamental skill that elementary school students must acquire to support overall learning success. However, in reality, early-grade students still experience significant difficulties in early reading development. This study aimed to identify the forms of early reading literacy difficulties and their contributing factors among first-grade students at SDN Ngemplak Kidul 02. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observations, reading ability tests, and interviews with teachers and parents. The findings revealed that the students experienced difficulties in recognizing letters, distinguishing visually similar letters, associating letters with their corresponding sounds, blending syllables into meaningful words, and reading simple words and sentences fluently. These difficulties were influenced by internal factors, including weaknesses in visual perception, phonological processing difficulties, low learning motivation, and a lack of self-confidence. External factors included limited reading habits at home, inadequate access to reading materials, and insufficient support from parents and teachers. The findings highlight that synergistic collaboration between schools and families is essential to support the optimal development of students' reading literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the secondary metabolite compounds present in leaf and twig extracts of glodokan tiang (Polyalthia longifolia L.) using phytochemical screening and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis. Dried, powdered samples were extracted by maceration with ethyl acetate and 96% ethanol. The extects were qualitatively screened for steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, phenolics, flaavonoids, and saponins. FTIR analysis (4000-450 cm-1) was used to identify functional groups. Both leaf and twig extracts contained various secondary metabolites, with 96% ethanol extracts showing a broader range of compounds than ethyl acetate extracts. Ethanol leaf extract tested positive for steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of O-H, C-H, C=O, and C-O functional groups, supporting the existence of bioactive secondary metabolites. These findings indicate that glodokan tiang leaves and twigs are promising natural sources of bioactive compounds, and that 96% ethanol is a more effective solvent for extracting secondary metabolites.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interpersonal communication training module to enhance students' self-confidence. Barriers in interpersonal communication can affect students' self-confidence, as reflected in their tendency to avoid social interactions, lack of social engagement, and low participation in learning activities. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The subjects in the limited trial consisted of 15 tenth-grade students at SMKN 1 Malingping. The results of the media feasibility assessment based on expert validation showed that the media expert gave a score of 100%, the material expert 100%, the language expert 97.5%, and the practitioner 100%. Overall, the average percentage reached 99.4%, which falls into the "Very Feasible" category. Students’ responses as users also indicated a high level of acceptance of both the content and presentation of the interpersonal communication training module. Therefore, this module is expected to serve as an alternative learning medium that supports the development of students' self-confidence.
