Abstract

The quality of health services needs to be improved because of the needs of the community in accordance with the standards of resource utilization in a fair, efficient, and effective manner. With the limitations of the government and community, health services are still carried out safely and satisfactorily in accordance with good norms and ethics. Health services in hospitals, health centers, clinics or other health institutions are components that are interrelated, interdependent, and influence each other. This study aims to determine the effect of reliability, responsiveness, and assurance variables simultaneously and partially on patient satisfaction at the Ismadana Muaradua Clinic. This study uses a quantitative method with 100 respondents. Data was collected directly from respondents using a previously prepared questionnaire The analysis tool uses multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that both simultaneously (F-test) and partially (t-test) concluded that the variables Reliability (X1), Responsiveness (X2), and Assurance (X3) have a significant effect on Patient Satisfaction (Y).

Abstract

Malnutrition among toddlers remains a critical public health issue in developing countries. This study evaluated the impact of nutritional counseling and interventions on malnourished toddlers in Walenrang Barat Public Health Center, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, in 2024. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was employed, involving 31 participants selected through total sampling. Data were collected using observation sheets and analyzed with the Wilcoxon test and paired t-test. The results revealed significant improvements in toddlers’ weight and height after the intervention, with average weight increasing from 9.1 kg to 9.4 kg and height from 84.3 cm to 85.4 cm. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of ρ = 0.000 (α = 0.05), indicating the effectiveness of the interventions. Counseling sessions enhanced parental awareness of balanced nutrition, fostering healthier feeding practices and supporting children’s growth and development. Nutritional interventions, including supplementation, directly addressed nutrient deficiencies, leading to noticeable improvements in toddlers’ physical health and activity levels. These findings highlight the importance of integrating counseling and nutritional interventions as a strategy to combat malnutrition. By equipping parents with knowledge and practical skills, these measures contribute to sustainable improvements in children’s nutritional status and overall health.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of prenatal yoga practice on hemoglobin, ferritin, and MCV levels. Prenatal yoga asanas were hypothesized to have a significant impact on Hb levels. Prenatal yoga is potentially an intervention to improve iron metabolism by increasing heme synthesis in the body, and ferritin plays an important role in the relationship between prenatal yoga and hemoglobin in pregnant women. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test was employed. The study sample consisted of 137 pregnant women in their second trimester. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed no significant increase in hemoglobin levels (p=0.056), but there were significant increases in ferritin (p=0.004) and MCV levels (p=0.000). Prenatal yoga practice can maintain hemoglobin levels and increase both ferritin and MCV levels.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death among women in Indonesia. This health issue is actually preventable through HPV vaccination, which can be administered to 5th-grade elementary school children. Several factors influence parents' decisions not to allow their children to receive the first dose of the HPV vaccine. The aim of this study was to analyze the determinants associated with the first dose of HPV vaccination among elementary school children. This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 281 mothers of 5th-grade elementary school children. Data were collected at elementary schools in Sigli City by distributing questionnaires from December 20–28, 2023. Quantitative data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression at a significance level of α=0.05 and a 95% confidence interval. The results showed that 258 children (91.81%) did not receive the HPV vaccine. Factors associated with the first dose of HPV vaccination among elementary school children were knowledge (OR=6.46; 95% CI=1.87–22.2), attitude (OR=2.74; 95% CI=1.04–7.18), concern (OR=3.31; 95% CI=1.09–10.00), and lack of utilization of information sources (OR=3.30; 95% CI=1.00–10.83). Factors not associated with the first dose of HPV vaccination included perception (OR=1.20; 95% CI=0.50–2.84), school support (OR=1.44; 95% CI=0.54–3.78), cultural beliefs (OR=1.12; 95% CI=0.47–2.63), and non-electronic media sources (OR=1.46; 95% CI=0.46–4.65). The most dominant factor associated with the first dose of HPV vaccination was poor knowledge (AOR=11.95; 95% CI=1.90–72.47).

Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Chronic infection can cause anemia of chronic disease which is characterized by normochromic normocytic morphology. This study was conducted to assess the relationship between erythrocyte index levels (MCV, MCH, and MCHC) with the morphology of anemia that occurs in leprosy patients before treatment. A cross-sectional study using secondary data from medical records and management information system applications at Sanglah Hospital. The variables of this study were age, sex, hemoglobin levels, and erythrocyte index levels (MCV, MCH, and MCHC). Data were collected after permission was granted and ethical clearance was completed. Of the 156 study samples, 106 patients were diagnosed with leprosy who had not received therapy and 50 patients were not leprosy. The mean age of the patients was 39.15 ± 12.218 years and male patients were more common than female patients. There was a positive correlation between anemia, normal erythrocyte index levels, and the leprosy group. Following are the p-values, prevalence ratios, and confidence intervals; anemia [p= 0.017; PR(95% CI)= 1,458(1.034-2.056)], MCV, MCH, and MCHC [p= 0.020; PR(95% CI)= 1,268(1.010-1.591); p= 0.015; PR(95% CI)= 1,293(1,021-1,639); p= 0.009; PR(95% CI)= 1,297(1,036-1,624)]. The results of the analysis were statistically significant and clinically important. Leprosy patients had anemia before therapy with normochromic normocytic anemia morphology in accordance with anemia of chronic disease.

Abstract

Asthma is one of the main diseases that cause patients to require hospitalization. WHO records 235 million cases of asthma worldwide each year. In Indonesia, the number of asthma sufferers is 4.5% of the total population or 12 million. At Grha Permata Ibu Hospital, there are 113 asthma sufferers out of a total of 9,654 patients. Asthma causes the airways to narrow because they are blocked by mucus/phlegm. Therefore, appropriate treatment such as pharmacological management with nebulization therapy & non-pharmacological chest physiotherapy and effective coughing techniques are needed to clear the respiratory tract of obstructing phlegm. Objectives to determine the application of effective post-nebulization clapping & coughing techniques to overcome airway clearance in asthma sufferers. The type of research is quantitative descriptive. The methods used by the author are interviews, physical examinations, & observations. The instruments used are informed consent sheets, assessments, observations & questionnaires. Before the intervention, all respondents experienced problems with airway clearance with clinical shortness of breath, coughing and difficulty expelling phlegm. After the intervention, the results showed that the clapping technique & effective coughing post nebulization were able to reduce shortness of breath, as many as 66.6% of respondents said that shortness of breath was reduced, 33.3% of respondents said they were not short of breath and 73.3% of respondents were able to expel phlegm. Implementation of clapping and coughing techniques effectively after nebulization to overcome airway clearance in asthma sufferers.

Abstract

IL-6 has been shown to enhance collagen synthesis and prolong the fibroblast proliferative phase, potentially contributing to uncontrolled keloid growth. However, despite its frequent mention in the literature as a crucial factor in keloid formation, studies specifically exploring the molecular mechanisms of IL-6 in fibroblast regulation and its interaction with other cytokines within keloid tissue remain limited. This study aims to further investigate the role of IL-6 in keloid matrix formation. This study is an analytical study conducted cross-sectionally. The samples used were patients diagnosed with keloids histopathologically based on microscopic criteria. Clinical data were taken from medical records and microscopic and immunohistochemical assessments using paraffin blocks available in the anatomical pathology laboratory of hospitals in Jambi city. There were 36 cases of keloids, aged between 12 and 42 years, mostly in women (66.7%), occurring in the trunk area (77.8%) 30 cases of recurrence (83.3%). We found 24 cases (77.8%) with strong IL-6 immunoexpression. There were 3 cases (8.3%) with no immunoexpression. There was a strong correlation between IL-6 immunoexpression and gender (p=0.03), age(0.04) and recurrence (p=0.02). The role of fibroblast cells is very important for the process of collagen formation in wound healing. The role of fibroblast cells is very important for the process of collagen formation in wound healing, where interleukin-6 in various theories and studies supports the process of collagen formation.

Abstract

Mental health issues during pregnancy affect 15–25% of women, leading to complications such as preterm birth and low birth weight. Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) offer a promising non-pharmacological approach to reducing stress, anxiety, and depression while enhancing maternal and infant well-being. Objective: This review evaluates the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy in improving pregnant women's mental health by reducing anxiety, stress, and depression. A literature review was conducted using PubMed (236), ScienceDirect (106), Google Scholar (965), and Garuda (231) databases . Studies published in the last ten years (2014-2024) on the effects of Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) on maternal mental health were analyzed. From an initial 1,529 articles, only 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. MBIs, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), effectively reduce anxiety, stress, and depression. They improve emotional regulation, quality of life, and mother-infant bonding. Digital mindfulness interventions also show similar benefits. Mindfulness therapy significantly improves mental health during pregnancy, promoting maternal and infant well-being. Integrating MBIs into maternal healthcare services is recommended as an effective non-pharmacological approach.
