Abstract

This study investigates the influence of peer education on adolescent coping strategies and self-efficacy in addressing bullying behaviors within a junior high school context. Focusing on a group of 31 randomly selected students aged 13-15 years, the research employed a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments using the Brief Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (Brief COPE) and the modified General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Results revealed a significant improvement in coping skills, with an increase from 23 to 28 students demonstrating effective coping after peer education. Similarly, students classified as having high self-efficacy rose from 20 to 24 following the educational intervention. The findings underscore the positive impact of peer education on adolescent coping and self-efficacy in combating bullying behavior. This study calls for further exploration of factors influencing coping strategies in addressing bullying among adolescents, aiming to enhance intervention approaches and create a supportive school environment. Highlights: Significant Improvement: Peer education demonstrates a substantial positive influence on adolescent coping strategies and self-efficacy in dealing with bullying behavior. Abstract

The implementation of personalized e-learning at the Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo, especially the Faculty of Islamic Religion, has contributed to this trend of electronic-based learning. The use of e-learning has challenges, namely the need to master digital competence and the responsibilities of lecturers in guiding and directing students during online learning. The analysis used mixed ANOVA to determine the increase in student personalization through e-learning design. the results of the study showed that there were differences in the learning outcomes of the control and experimental groups. The results of the one way ANOVA analysis show differences in personalized learning achievement according to students' learning needs and potential. The more students interact and ask questions outside of class, the more actively they are involved in independent learning from home. This condition is not found in conventional e-learning, which is only carried out modestly by lecturers and students. They create a fun and more communicative learning atmosphere complemented by the reliability of adequate e-learning platform. Highlights: Implementation of personalized e-learning at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo enhances electronic-based learning trend. Challenges include mastering digital competence and lecturer responsibilities in guiding online learning. Mixed ANOVA analysis reveals differing learning outcomes between control and experimental groups. Keywords: Personalized e-learning, Digital competence, Mixed Anova analysis, Independent learning

Abstract

Abstract Natural disasters often occur on this earth, especially in Indonesia. There are several types of disasters that occur, namely: geological disasters, hydrometeorological disasters and others. This natural disaster caused quite a lot of casualties and not a few material. Good post-natural disaster management is necessary to minimize the number of victims of a disaster. One form of handling this natural disaster is by providing electrical energy that can be used to provide lighting and communication systems. The provision of electrical energy consists of several integrated systems to form a compact, simple and efficient unit. This tool consists of a Solar Power Generation system, GenSet system, inverter system, Change Over Switch system and Global Positioning System system. This tool is named SUNPO which stands for Sun Power or Solar Power. With this SUNPO, it can function as a power supply to power direct current loads and alternating current loads. If the solar power is not enough to charge the battery then the system can be operated with a GenSet. Meanwhile, to find out the position of SUNPO, a Global Positioning System is also installed. Highlights: Effective Disaster Response: Efficient post-disaster management is crucial to minimize casualties and damage caused by natural disasters, especially in Indonesia. SUNPO Tool Integration: The SUNPO (Sun Power) tool integrates solar power generation, GenSet backup, inverter, changeover switch, and GPS systems to provide a reliable and compact solution for electricity supply in disaster-stricken areas. Dual Power Source: SUNPO offers dual power sources - solar energy and GenSet - ensuring continuous electricity supply for both direct and alternating current loads, enhancing communication and lighting systems for affected communities. Keywords: Natural disasters, Post-disaster management, SUNPO, Solar Power, Global Positioning System.

Abstract

Alkali treatment of natural fibers has a role in removing hemicellulose and lignin layers. This layer prevents the matrix from bonding with the natural fiber cellulose structure. The use of an inappropriate type of alkali will reduce its effectiveness and can even damage the cellulose layer. This study compared the effectiveness of alkaline NaOH, CaOH and KOH in removing lignin and hemicellulose and their ability to maintain cellulose content. The use of the immersion method in alkaline solutions is well controlled. The FTIR characterization test was used to detect functional group changes, the TGV test to detect heat resistance ability, the XRD test to detect structural changes in crystalline and amorphous properties of sansevieria natural fibers. Furthermore, the tensile test to determine the effect of alkaline treatment on changes in mechanical strength Tensile strength. From the test results it was found that the alkaline NaOH gave the best characteristics by detecting the presence of cellulose, tensile strength and the nature of the crystalline atomic structure. Highlights: Effectiveness of Alkali Types: Comparison of NaOH, CaOH, and KOH effectiveness in removing lignin and hemicellulose while preserving cellulose content. Characterization Techniques: FTIR, TGA, and XRD tests used for functional group changes, heat resistance, and structural properties evaluation. NaOH Superiority: Alkaline NaOH treatment demonstrated best results in maintaining cellulose, enhancing tensile strength, and influencing atomic structure. Keywords: Alkali treatment, Natural fibers, Lignin removal, Cellulose preservation, Tensile strength.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic malnutrition problem caused by a prolonged lack of sufficient nutrient intake, resulting in impaired growth and shorter stature (dwarfism) in children compared to age standards. In Indonesia, the prevalence of stunting remains high according to WHO standards, mainly due to the limited information available on stunting, particularly regarding preventive measures. In the era of Industry 4.0, rapid technological advancements, especially in the field of healthcare, have provided enhanced access to information and early disease diagnosis through expert system-based applications. The objective of this research is to design an application that assists the community in early detection of stunting in children, enabling timely intervention. The chosen approach involves forward chaining inference machine, testing input symptoms to draw conclusions based on the knowledge rules stored in the knowledge base. The outcome of this research is an application that facilitates parents and integrated service posts in preventing stunting disorders in children. Abstract

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the relationship between thoracic kyphosis posture, shoulder function, work duration, and the occurrence of shoulder pain among academic staff at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select 21 participants. Thoracic posture was measured using an inclinometer, shoulder function was assessed using the Constant-Murley Score, and muscle strength was evaluated with a hand dynamometer grip power test. The results revealed a significant correlation between thoracic kyphosis posture, shoulder function, work duration, and the occurrence of shoulder pain (r: 0.7±0.001, r: 0.6±0.003, r: 0.8±0.001, respectively). This study highlights the crucial role of posture, shoulder function, and work duration in contributing to shoulder pain among academic staff, emphasizing the need for ergonomic interventions and preventive measures to promote musculoskeletal health in this population. Highlights: Significant Correlation: The study establishes a strong and significant correlation between thoracic kyphosis posture, shoulder function, and work duration with the occurrence of shoulder pain among academic staff. Functional Impact: Shoulder function, as assessed by the Constant-Murley Score, plays a pivotal role in the development of shoulder pain, shedding light on the importance of maintaining optimal shoulder mobility and strength. Ergonomic Implications: The findings underscore the need for targeted ergonomic interventions and preventive strategies to mitigate shoulder pain among academic staff, emphasizing the importance of promoting musculoskeletal well-being in prolonged static work settings.
