Abstract

This research is the result of three individual counseling meetings on 3 students of class VIII SMP IT Al-Luthfah, the main basis of the counseling conducted is preventive, curative, and development. This research is also based on the results of the assessment with the BK instrument, namely the Inventory of Developmental Tasks (ITP) which produces the lowest items related to relationships with peers, then from these results an activity design is formed, such as (1) Introductions, approaches, and establishing an agreement on the time and place of counseling, (2) Collecting client data or information by assessment, (3) Setting activity strategies, (4) Implementation of counseling, (5) Evaluation and results. This research uses a descriptive research methodology with a qualitative approach, which focuses on (1) The results of the management of thequestionnaires, (2) results of the lowest developmental level one-point aspects, (3) and descriptions of direct observation results and reflection/evaluation sheets to determine the level of understanding reflection/evaluation sheets and interviews to determine the level of problems experienced by students. The results of the counseling meeting show that the level of student problems is quite crucial to improve and by providing individual counseling services the student concerned feels this meeting is appropriate for his development to be more optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of group counseling with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques in helping students manage academic stress at the Tahfizh Daarul Qur'an Takhassus Cikarang Islamic Boarding School. The academic pressure faced by students is caused by various factors, including the demands of meeting the target of memorizing the Qur'an, difficulty in memorizing, and a busy schedule of activities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The qualitative descriptive approach provides an in-depth understanding of changes in students' mindsets, emotions, and coping strategies after participating in the CBT group counseling intervention. The results showed that 5 students experienced academic stress levels, characterized by low motivation to memorize and anxiety about memorization targets. The results showed that after participating in the CBT group counseling session, students experienced a decrease in academic stress levels, increased awareness in managing negative thoughts, and the development of skills in dealing with academic pressure more positively. Around 85% of students reported that they felt calmer and less burdened when facing academic stress, compared to before participating in counseling. The results of this study indicate that group counseling using CBT techniques plays a role in helping students understand and manage academic stress through a more systematic approach. Thus, this method can be a reference in developing guidance and counseling services in Islamic boarding schools to improve psychological well-being and student learning motivation

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' career planning by using group guidance services with problem solving methods using mind mapping media for class XII students at Senior High School (SMA) Negeri 4 Madiun City. Career planning is something that concerns the long-term future that must be planned well in advance. The method used in this study is an experiment with a one group pretest posttest approach with the Wilcoxon analysis test. The sample in this study was 10 students who were determined using the purposive sampling method. The provision of intervention to students was carried out 3 times with a duration of 45 minutes at each meeting. The significance results of the Wilcoxon analysis test were 0.005 <0.05, which means the difference between before and after the service was given. And the average pretest score of 66 became 101 on the average posttest score, which means that it shows an increase of 8 out of 10 students experiencing a significant increase in career planning. The results of this study indicate that group guidance services using problem solving methods using mind mapping media play a role in providing understanding, knowledge, and information to think systematically and in a planned manner in determining the career planning of class XII students of SMA Negeri 4 Madiun in the 2024/2025 Academic Year effectively.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology, while offering positive impacts, also presents significant challenges, notably the moral decadence among the youth, including Generation Z. This research aimed to identify the specific forms and predominant factors contributing to the moral decadence of Generation Z in the Tanjung Pura District, specifically Desa Pematang Cengal, and to formulate comprehensive solutions through an Islamic counseling approach. This qualitative study employed a descriptive approach, involving 20 purposively selected participants: 15 Generation Z youth (aged 15-25) and 5 community leaders from Desa Pematang Cengal, Tanjung Pura. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing/verification) with a thematic analysis approach, and data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. Key findings reveal that prevalent forms of moral decadence include criminality, Westernized lifestyle changes, bullying, substance abuse (NAPZA and alcohol), online gambling, and free association leading to premarital sex, alongside a decline in religious practices and respect. The primary contributing factors identified were weak religious understanding and practice, suboptimal family environment and parental roles, negative peer influence, a permissive community environment, and the unfiltere impact of technology. The study proposes that solutions lie in a holistic and adaptive Islamic counseling approach, emphasizing spiritual strengthening, enhancing the roles of family, school, and community, and leveraging technology positively. This research underscores the urgent need for an integrated and contextualized Islamic counseling framework to fortify the moral resilience of Generation Z in the digital era, particularly within rural communities.

Abstract

The digital era brings significant progress in human life, but also presents serious challenges in mental and social health aspects, such as increased anxiety, stress, individualism, and uncontrolled dissemination of information. This study aims to examine how Sufism values can be actualized as a solution to these problems. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach and purposive sampling technique. Participants consisted of six people: three Sufism figures (practitioners and academics) and three individuals who had experienced the negative impacts of social media and found peace through the Sufism approach. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and in-depth documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results of the study revealed five main themes: (1) the practice of dhikr and meditation as a form of digital detox that is effective in calming the mind and reducing stress, (2) the formation of a spiritual community in cyberspace that strengthens social support and religious values, (3) ethics of social media based on Sufism that emphasize politeness, empathy, and honesty, (4) the application of tawakal and self-acceptance in responding to digital social pressures, and (5) the spread of love and tranquility through spiritual content. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of contextual Sufism studies in the digital era, as well as practical contributions to efforts to build psychosocial well-being through the integration of spiritual values in social media life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the religious intervention strategies implemented by social workers in fostering the religiosity attitudes of Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) at the Youth Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center, Social Service Agency of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It addresses a gap in the literature concerning the use of religious approaches as instruments for social rehabilitation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving eight informants: one social worker, two social assistants, and five PPKS participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The findings reveal that the Faith and Piety Development program, which includes initial assessments, religious education, structured worship practices, Qur'an recitation sessions, and congregational prayers, effectively enhances five dimensions of religiosity: belief, religious knowledge, spiritual experience, religious rituals, and moral consequences. Pre-test and post-test results show significant improvements in regular worship practices, memorization of prayers and short Qur'anic verses, and emotional control. The study concludes that religiosity-based development is an effective strategy for shaping the character and morality of PPKS participants, as well as for fostering a transformative rehabilitative environment.

Abstract

Happiness in important aspect for individual psychological well-being, especially in early adult individuals who are characterized by various life transitions such as identity, self-adjustment in the workplace and forming social relationships. However, the experience of happiness that occurs in individuals is different between men and women, that is because the social role and the pressure that occurs are often different. This research focuses on the approach of happiness according to Seligman, namely authentic happiness. The purpose of this research is to analyze the authentic happiness of early adults based on gender in Lenteng Agung Village. This research uses a quantitative approach with a comparative method. This study used the cluster sampling method with the number of respondents as many as 54 early adults. Unlike other measures of happiness, Authentic Happiness Inventory (AHI) tends to measure current levels of happiness and assess changes in happiness based on a meaningful life and having goals, pleasure and positive emotions, involvement in life activities and interpersonal connections. From the results of the study, the significance value of 0,027 means that there is a difference in early adult authentic happiness based on gender in Lenteng Agung Village. Thus, this research can contribute to psychological literature that emphasizes the importance of authentic happiness towards gender factors and can be used as a basic material in improving the emotional well-being of early adults in various social and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the behavior of Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) among eighth-grade students at SMPN 102 Jakarta by referring to the Grand Theory of Parks (2012), which conceptualizes self-injury as a form of self-directed violence carried out consciously. The study is grounded in the gap of understanding regarding the psychosocial aspects of individuals who engage in self-injury as a response to emotional distress. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and utilizes data triangulation techniques, including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, involving three primary subjects identified as engaging in self-injurious behavior, as well as six supporting informants comprising teachers, siblings, and close friends. The study was conducted from March to May 2024. The findings reveal that the self-injury behavior of the subjects aligns with Parks’ conceptualization, including: a history of trauma, a tendency to conceal personal problems, the interpretation of physical pain as an outlet for negative emotions, and low self-esteem. Contributing factors include family conflicts, dysfunctional interpersonal relationships, and past traumatic experiences. Social support received by the subjects was predominantly from peers, while family roles tended to be passive or unresponsive to the subjects’ conditions. This study emphasizes the importance of early detection of self-injurious behavior patterns and the need to strengthen school-based psychosocial approaches that integrate the roles of school counselors, families, and professional therapists in fostering students’ self-control and self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-concept on coping stress among tenth-grade students at SMAN 42 Jakarta. Employing a quantitative associative approach, data were collected from 70 students selected through simple random sampling from a population of 281. Measurement instruments utilized Guttman scale questionnaires on two variables: self-concept and coping stress. Data analysis using simple linear regression with SPSS version 23 revealed a significant influence of self-concept on coping stress (p < 0.05). The findings indicate that students with a more positive self-concept tend to employ more adaptive coping strategies. These results highlight the importance of self-concept development in enhancing students’ psychological resilience, suggesting implications for school-based counseling interventions to foster healthy self-perception and stress management skills.

Abstract

Anxiety is something that everyone tends to experience. Basically, individuals who are in an anxious state will find it difficult to think optimally and cannot carry out their activities smoothly and optimally like normal people in general. So that this anxiety is very important to be overcome and minimized so as not to have a negative impact on the life of the individual. The purpose of this study is to see theoretically that REBT counseling can minimize anxiety. The research uses a literature study method. The data in this study was obtained from various references such as books, articles, journals and other scientific studies that are related to REBT and anxiety counseling. The data in this study were analyzed, classified, processed, and described in an easy-to-understand and understandable language. Based on the results of the theoretical review, it can be understood that anxiety is a psychological problem that stems from the inability to think rationally. So it is suitable to be overcome by providing REBT counseling that focuses on rationalizing individual irrational thoughts, and can be used to reduce or minimize anxiety experienced by individuals. However, it must be done by a professional counselor who can implement this REBT counseling properly according to the stages that have been set.
