Abstract

This study aims to find out and describe data on language politeness among teenagers in Kuala Simpang city, Aceh Tamiang district in terms of sociolinguistics. The appropriate research approach uses in this study is qualitative research. The type of research is field research. The data of this study is the conversation of teenagers of Bukit Tempurung Village, Kuala Simpang City. Data sources are a number of teenagers in Bukit Tempurung Village, Kuala Simpang City. Data collected by recording techniques during social activities, then in manuscripts in the form of conversation. The results showe that there are 6 languages politeness maxims used by teenagers during social activities. Maksim is in the form of wisdom maxims of four (4) data, generosity maxims as much as seven (7) data, award maxims of two (2) data, simplicity maxim of one (1) data, consensus maximization of fourteen (14) data, and the implicit maxim of one (1) data. Based on the research data, the most dominant maxim is the agreement maxim

Abstract

The research objective in this paper is to find out how constructive games are on numeracy skills in elementary schools. This research is expected to contribute to schools and enrich the results of existing research and can provide an overview of how constructive play is on numeracy skills in elementary schools. This research is a type of classroom action research. This type of classroom action research used in this research is collaborative, namely that the person who will take the action must also be involved in the research process. In this activity, all who are involved in this research are full involved in the process of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of the development of Adobe Flash CS6 Learning Media on Short Story Text Learning based on local wisdom. This type of research is research and development based on the ADDIE development model. After going through the development process, a learning media produced Short Story Text based on Local community of the Batak Toba Class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa consists of 4 (four) main menus namely Learning Competencies, Short Story Materials, Learning Quiz and Profile. The results showed that (1) the validation of the material experts included aspects of content Feasibility assessment with a percentage of eligibility of 92.73% with a predicate of Very Good (SB), a Presentation aspect with a percentage of eligibility of 86% with a predicate of Very Good (SB), a Language aspect with a percentage of 100% and the title of Very Good (SB), the aspect of Graphic with a percentage of 90% with the title of Very Good (SB); (2) validation of media design experts includes aspects of the assessment of Guidelines and Information with a percentage of eligibility of 100% and the predicate of Very Good (SB), Operational aspects of Software with a percentage of eligibility of 100% and the predicate of Very Good, Systematic aspects, Aesthetics and Media Principles with a percentage of 98.40% and a predicate of Very Good (SB); (3) The results of the Field Trial of Teachers and Students obtained a response of 96.15% with the criteria "Very Good"; (4) Short Text Learning outcomes before using adobe flash CS6 learning media is 51 while Short Text learning outcomes after using adobe flash CS6 learning media is 81. The difference obtained is 58.23% from before and after using adobe flash CS6 learning media. So, it can be concluded that the quality of learning media made is "very good".

Abstract

By the rapid change in innovations of Information and Communication Technology, people are now able to get and exchange information fast. To keep up with these innovations, the integration of ICT in education is urgently demanded of time at present as ICT is being used in almost all other sectors all over the world. Therefore, it demands the teachers to be skillful in operating ICT during their teaching. Nevertheless, the integration of ICT into teaching in Indonesia hasn’t fully been maximized. This paper is intended to investigate the factors of teachers’ readiness to integrate ICT into their teaching. To acquire an in-depth result, this case study focuses on the interview of some teachers in a certain school in Indonesia. The data gained revealed four factors that enact the integration of ICT in class. Most of the teachers need official trainingconcerning the integration of recent ICTs in class to optimize their teaching skills using ICT.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the existence of a form of gondang at the ritual ceremony of Si Pahasada, and how its function at the ritual ceremony of Si Pahasada in Huta High of North Sumatra is the subject matter to be discussed. The method used in this study is by using descriptive qualitative method. Collecting data is done through observation, interview, documentation, and bibliography. In this study it is found that there are 12 dishes reportoar gondang kesumpaan presented during this ritual. In this study also found eight functions of gondang in the ritual of Parmalim Si Pahasada, namely: 1) Aesthetic function, 2) communication functions, 3) symbolic functions, 4) physical response function, 5) enforcing social norms, 5) validation of social institutions. 6) religious ritual function, 7) cultural continuity and stability, 8) contribution to community integration.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describes how the literacy skills of children in TK Negeri 1 Pembina Medan in class B at the age of 5-6 years through online learning during the current pandemic. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research, with the research subjects namely. The school principal, teachers, school committee, and several children at TK Negeri Pembina 1 Medan. The data collection techniques used were; observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis used is in the form of descriptive analysis, which includes three lines, namely; data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion obtained is that from the observation sheet of literacy skills in listening, it can be seen that the average listening skill of children is in the developing category as expected (BSH). Speaking ability is in the developing category according to expectations (BSH), while writing ability is in the developing category as expected (BSH), and reading ability is in the developing category (MB).

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery through teaching real object. This study was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. It was done through 1) planning, 2) action, 3) observation, and 4) reflection. The population of the research was the students of Amik Medicom. To get the sample, the researcher took one class, it was MI18B. This research applied quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative method were taken from the students' test. Qualitative data were taken from observation, questionnaires sheet and diary notes. The research found out that there are some improvements of the students’ vocabulary mastery taught by applying real objects. It was proved from the students’ improvement in cycle 1 until cycle 2. The improvement can be seen that in pre test the means score was 34.66. In the first cycle,  meeting 1 the means score was 37,33, in meeting 2 was 47,66 and in meeting 3 was 53,5. In the second cycle, meeting 1 the means score was 68,83,  in meeting 2 was 80,33 and in meeting 3 was 91,66. The improvement also can be seen from the percentage of the students’ achievement in mastering vocabulary; in pre test, no one of the students got 75 points. In the first cycle, in meeting 1, and there no one student got 75 point,  in meeting 3 there was 16.7% (5 students) got 75 points. It means there was an improvement about 16.7 % . In the second cycle, in meeting 1 there was 20% (6 students) got 75 points, it means that there was an improvement about 3.3%. In meeting 2 there was 80% (24 students) got 75 points, it means that there was an improvement about 70%.  In meeting 3 there was 100% (30 students) got up 75 points, it means that there was an improvement about 30%. It means that all of the students got better result. They could master many new vocabulary items and composed them into good sentences.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the way the English  teachers used  translation and the reasons the teachers used it in the instructional activity with scientific approach. The information were obtained from the English teachers in MAN Medan.  Descriptive qualitative research design was utilized in answering the research’s problems. No treatment in this study. Following descriptive qualitative research this study provided  description of a phenomenon that occurred naturally without any an experiment intervention or an artificially contrived treatment. Observation and interview were utilised as the techniques of collecting data. The finding indicated that there were three English teachers in teaching English used scientific approach in the process of using and correcting words, phrase or sentences messages, elaborating structure and classroom management. Furthermore, the reasons of pedagogical translation use were to help communication in the classroom, develop the students teacher relation and facilitate foreign langaage understanding.

Abstract

The aim of this research to find Morphological Interference in the Form of Malay Language Affixation Panai Dialect. The data is taken in writing language or Narrative text in 5th grade students of Primary School no. 112202 in Middle Panai Disctrict. The methodology research uses qualitative research and descriptive research. The result is confixes more dominant to be found in Narrative text based on Malay language in Panai dialect.

Abstract

This research is entitled Limbaga (Proverbs) Simalungun as a Source of Formation of Character Education. Character education is a human activity to establish peace-loving and prosperous personalities in order to build their own personal character and people around them. Character education is closely related to moral education which aims to shape and practice one's ability to perfect him in a better direction. Character education has been applied since childhood. Character education can be done in their family, school and community. The purpose of this study is to describe the character values contained in limbaga (proverbss) that can be used as a source of character education. This research belongs to the category of descriptive qualitative research. The results showed that there were 9 (nine) character values contained in the Simalungun limbaga (proverbs) namely: religious, hard working, honest, disciplined, independent, rewarding achievement, responsibility, social care, and peace-loving.
