Abstract

This study aims to explore the understanding of students in the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) specialization at vocational high schools (SMK) in solving mathematics tests focused on number conversion. The primary objectives are to identify and analyze the errors made by students in converting decimal, binary, octal, and hexadecimal numbers, evaluate their perceptions of the test, and assess their mathematical communication skills. This research employs a mixed-method approach, using quantitative methods to analyze the validity and reliability of the number conversion test instruments, and qualitative methods to delve into students' understanding through content and thematic analysis. The study population consists of TKJ students at SMKN 4 Pontianak, with a purposive sample of 32 tenth-grade students. The findings reveal several common errors, including difficulties in repeated division and digit grouping. Data indicate that 36% of students disagree that they understand decimal to octal conversion, and 18% disagree with decimal to hexadecimal conversion. Students' perceptions of test difficulty vary, with 45% feeling very confident in writing conversion steps, while 30% show significant uncertainty. Additionally, challenges in mathematical communication are evident, such as errors in representation, reading, and writing numbers. The study concludes that there is a need to improve teaching methods and evaluation to enhance students' understanding and skills in number conversion. Recommendations include developing more effective teaching strategies and providing more intensive practice to improve students' accuracy and understanding in the number conversion process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in critical thinking skills between male and female students in solving Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV) problems in class X at SMA Negeri 3 Ngabang. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a comparative approach. Data were collected from SPLTV test scores of 12 students, consisting of 6 male students and 6 female students. The results of the study showed significant variations between students based on gender. Female students demonstrated excellent performance across various critical thinking skill indicators, including conceptual understanding, analysis and interpretation, evaluation and reasoning, creativity and expertise, communication and collaboration, as well as perseverance and persistence. Male students also showed excellent performance, but there was greater variation in their abilities. Although the average scores of male students were slightly higher, their score distribution was more diverse, with some students performing exceptionally well and others performing lower. Factors influencing these differences include conceptual understanding, analysis and interpretation, evaluation and reasoning, creativity and expertise, communication and collaboration, as well as perseverance and persistence. This study indicates that female students generally have more consistent performance across critical thinking skill indicators compared to male students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and find related to pre-trial procedural law regulations that are not yet based on justice values, to analyze and find weaknesses in current pre-trial procedural law regulations, and to find a reconstruction of pre-trial procedural law regulations based on Justice Values. There are 3 (three) theories used, namely the Pancasila justice theory as a grand theory, the legal system theory as a middle theory, and the progressive legal theory as an applied theory. This research method uses a socio-legal approach method that law is both a norm and a behavior that examines social phenomena. The analysis of research data is descriptive qualitative. The location of the research was conducted at the Kuala Kapuas District Court. The data source is from the Judge at the Kuala Kapuas District Court. "Mistakes that are made repeatedly over a long period of time will turn into truth." This expression is appropriate in the practice of handling pre-trial cases. Since the birth of the pre-trial institution in Law No. 8 of 1981 concerning Criminal Procedure Law (KUHAP) 38 years ago, the practice of pre-trial seems to use civil procedural law. Such as summons and notifications are carried out by bailiffs. The stages of the process are similar to civil trial trials. Normatively, the Criminal Procedure Code does not strictly regulate pre-trial procedural law. In the Criminal Procedure Code, there is also no article that mentions pre-trial cases with civil case mechanisms. In addition, from the registration and use of case codes in the Court alone, it is clear that pre-trial is a criminal case. It is reasonable that until now the pre-trial examination mechanism only refers to the customs applied in court practice, because since the Criminal Procedure Code was formed it has been handed over to the regulatory mechanism based on court policy. Judges may not reject cases on the basis that there is no procedural law. With the assumption and approach that pre-trial cases have the same nature and characteristics as civil cases, the Judge uses examination procedures as in civil cases even though pre-trial cases are actually criminal cases as seen from the use of the register and code listed in the case number.

Abstract

This study investigated the influence of NTA and FRCN pedophilia messages on residents of South-East Nigeria. The study has two objectives and one theoretical framework. It used survey research method in which 384 respondents were reached with a structured questionnaire out of which 375 valid responses were obtained. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Chi-Square tests using SPSS 20. The study ascertained that residents of South East Nigeria have low level of exposure to broadcast media messages on pedophilia. Despite this situation; their exposure on pedophilia through media broadcast messages significantly improved their knowledge and preparedness in the fight against the hazard. Based on the findings, the study recommended that broadcast media houses in the sub-region should increase their frequency of reportage of pedophilia so as to raise the level of exposure of residents in the area to messages or information on the subject, among other recommendations.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the political-security relations between Iran and Turkey in the context of developments in Syria from 2010 to 2019. Using a descriptive-analytical method and the theory of defensive realism (threat balance), this study shows that the developments in Syria during these years have profoundly affected the political-security relations between the two countries. Following the Syrian crisis and the emergence of extremist groups, the relationship between Iran and Turkey, which had moved towards competition and mild interaction from 2002 to 2010, shifted to a threat-oriented approach after 2010. Iran's support for Iranian-backed rebels and Turkey's position in the Western-Arab front aimed at overthrowing the Syrian regime have intensified the differences in viewpoints and approaches between the two countries.
