Abstract

The sustainability of early childhood teacher empowerment programs is often hindered by dependence on external facilitators. Building on the success of the first training phase, which developed educational media using local materials at TK Bina Anaprasa Melati, the second phase of this community service program was designed to ensure the dissemination and continuity of innovation through a Tiered Training and Local Instructor Mentoring model. This empowerment initiative employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, a participatory method that links reflection and action for community empowerment, by applying the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) framework. GRR gradually shifted the facilitator’s role from the external team to two selected local instructor candidates. The program involved 21 new early childhood teachers from Cluster V Loa Janan and was conducted at TK A’Sidiq. Data were collected through participatory observation, 360° feedback questionnaires (comprehensive multi-source performance evaluation), interviews, and document analysis. Results indicated a significant improvement in the pedagogical competence of instructor candidates (teaching ability scores increased from 3.2 to 4.5). Training participants expressed highly positive responses (satisfaction score of 4.7/5), and 95% successfully created 3D murals and creative fence dolls. The establishment of an internal replication mechanism, including follow-up training action plans and a sustainable learning media working group, served as a strong indicator of program sustainability. This model proved effective in building community capacity and fostering independence in educational innovation rooted in local wisdom.

Abstract

Traditional fishermen in Surodadi Village face productivity constraints due to their reliance on conventional fishing gear and the lack of post-harvest facilities. This community service program offers a solution through the planned implementation of Internet of Things (IoT)-based Robotic Ship Fishery (RSF) technology and the construction of cold storage infrastructure. The implementation method uses the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, encompassing socialization, technical and managerial training, and hardware engineering, and involves 20 fishermen as target partners. The results indicate that the RSF prototypes are currently undergoing functional laboratory testing, while the construction of the 100 kg capacity cold storage is in the physical development phase. This intervention has significantly improved human resource cognitive capacity, with posttest evaluations showing that 100% of partners (20 people) understand the function of navigation technology for fuel efficiency and 93.3% (19 people) understand cold chain management. It is concluded that the program has successfully established a foundation for human resource readiness and a paradigm shift toward modern, independent fishery businesses. However, the real economic impacts will require monitoring following full implementation of the technology.

Abstract

Sungai Bawang Village is one of the villages with promising potential in the agricultural sector, particularly for giant cassava commodities. At the same time, the Sungai Bawang Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) has not yet established an agricultural product processing unit. Therefore, the concept of combining BUMDes with home industry development emerges as a model to enhance the local economy by processing giant cassava into modified cassava flour (MOCAF). MOCAF is a value-added product derived from cassava through a fermentation process, offering health benefits as well as high economic value. The methods employed in this community empowerment partnership program include observation and planning, socialization, training, technology implementation, and ongoing mentoring and evaluation. The outcomes of the program include improved community capacity in processing cassava into MOCAF, the adoption of appropriate technology, and increased knowledge of the procedures for obtaining food product legality certifications. Prior to the program, the community had little awareness of the potential of cassava as a raw material for MOCAF production. Now, they possess a better understanding of the production process, the health benefits, and the economic opportunities for development through BUMDes–home industry collaboration. This program is expected to further enhance community knowledge in agricultural product processing. BUMDes can take an active role, in accordance with its function, as an instrument for strengthening the village economy by developing a community-based home industry model as one of its business units to stimulate economic activities within the village.

Abstract

Petty cash is one of the important aspects of daily financial management. Proper cash management will help companies in handling routine expenses that are urgent and of relatively small value. The problem that occurs at SMK Muhammadiyah Adiwerna is that students do not understand about the recording of petty cash, especially the difference in the imprest method and fluctuations because in the independent curriculum the petty cash material is getting less and less and usually the cases given to students are in the form of the imprest method only. The implementation method is divided into three stages, namely identifying problems, implementing activities, and evaluating results. In the first stage, the PKM team conducted a survey and interview with the Head of SMK Muhammadiyah Adiwerna. The second stage, namely the implementation of activities, is carried out by giving lectures, tutorials and discussions. The final stage is evaluation, carried out by providing pretest and posttest to all PKM participants. Based on the results of the presentation of the material delivered by the lecturer team about recording petty cash documents using the impression and fluctuation method, it gave results, namely all participants were able to follow the flow of material guided by the lecturer team and could do the practice of compiling journals into cash payment journals and petty cash books well. The training that has been carried out shows that there is an improvement in students' skills about recording petty cash documents using the imprest and fluctuation method method for students of SMK Muhammdiyah Adiwerna Tegal to prepare to take the Expertise Competency Test.

Abstract

At the village level, the quality of public services is often the most immediate indicator for the community to assess whether the government serves citizens’ needs or merely functions as an administrative institution. When services are delivered slowly, unclearly, and without responsiveness, people will immediately perceive weaknesses in government governance. On the other hand, when village officials provide well-organized, easy-to-understand, and responsive services, public services can function not only as a means of resolving administrative matters but also as a medium for strengthening public trust in the village government. Based on this perspective, this community service activity was conducted to enhance the understanding of Wonorejo Village officials regarding Minimum Service Standards for Villages and their relevance to daily public service practices. The activity began with field observations and was followed by face-to-face counseling sessions for village government officials. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ understanding after the counseling activities were conducted. These findings indicate that strengthening village officials’ knowledge regarding village service standards can serve as an important foundation for improving the quality of public services within village governance.

Abstract

Fish and other agro-marine products are important sources of high-quality protein, essential amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. However, immigrant communities may experience changes in dietary habits due to limited access to familiar food ingredients, affordability issues, and adaptation to new food environments. This community service program aimed to improve nutritional literacy and practical skills in healthy agro-marine food processing among Indonesian immigrant communities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The program was conducted in June 2024 through collaboration among Management and Science University, Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia, the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, and the community service team. The activity involved 20 participants and was implemented through five stages: socialization, practical training, technology application, evaluation assistance, and sustainability planning. Program outputs included nutrition education on fish consumption, demonstrations of healthier processing methods such as steaming, boiling, and grilling, introduction of fish-product diversification, utilization of agro-marine by-products, a processing guidebook, and digital learning materials. Evaluation through observation, discussion, and participant feedback indicated that the program helped participants understand the nutritional value of fish and recognize healthier and more economically productive processing alternatives. Continuous mentoring is recommended to strengthen long-term dietary improvement and community-based entrepreneurship.
