Abstract

This study maps the intellectual landscape of service quality research in higher education and traces its shift from a classical service evaluation orientation toward an ecosystem increasingly centered on student experience and digital transformation. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on Scopus metadata related to service quality and higher education. The dataset included 1,887 documents from 770 sources and was analyzed using bibliometrix and Biblioshiny in R Studio. The analysis covered scientific production, citations, publication sources, authors, affiliations, countries, and conceptual mapping through keywords, trend topics, co-word networks, thematic maps, and factorial analysis. The field has developed as an increasingly collaborative and multidisciplinary domain, with strong contributions from Asia, especially India with 145 documents, China with 141, Indonesia with 137, and Malaysia with 105. The most dominant keywords are higher education with 1,092 occurrences and service quality with 904, followed by students with 141 and student satisfaction with 131. Conceptually, the field has shifted from classical service quality evaluation toward student experience, system quality, information quality, e-learning, and increasingly hybrid educational services. Emerging themes such as artificial intelligence, ChatGPT, trust, and student well-being have appeared, but remain fragmented

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s strategy as a spiritual leader in selecting human resources with Islamic character and its implications for teacher performance at SMA Plus Al-Azhar Jember. The study is grounded in the importance of character-based human resources as a foundation for improving the quality, integrity, and performance of educational institutions. Its central argument is that teacher recruitment should not only emphasize professional competence, but also moral integrity, Islamic values, and suitability with the school’s vision and mission. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and students; observations of the selection process and teaching practices; and documentation studies of the school’s vision and mission, recruitment policies, and institutional programs. The data were analyzed through coding, categorization, theme identification, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings reveal four main strategies used by the principal as a spiritual leader in selecting human resources with Islamic character. These strategies include establishing Islamic moral indicators as selection criteria, assessing the alignment between candidates’ competencies and values with the school’s vision and mission, implementing an open and merit-based selection procedure, and prioritizing integrity and moral exemplarity in prospective teachers. Empirically, these strategies contribute to the emergence of teachers who are more motivated, disciplined, sincere, responsible, and trusted as role models within the school culture. This study is limited to one Islamic senior high school context, so the findings are not intended for broad generalization. However, the results provide practical insights for principals and Islamic educational institutions in developing character-based HR selection models.

Abstract

The Qur’anic-Hadith Law of Attraction (QHLoA) has gained visibility among urban Indonesian Muslims through seminars, training programs, and digital da’wah that combine Qur’anic verses, hadith, motivational discourse, inner healing, and everyday meaning-making. Existing studies have discussed this phenomenon as personal spirituality, religious motivation, or popular da’wah, while its epistemological implications for Islamic education remain underexplored. Using a qualitative, phenomenologically informed design, this study examines QHLoA practices in Yogyakarta and Semarang through interviews with participants, an alumnus, an organizer, facilitators, and local religious figures, supported by observations of seminars and training sessions and analysis of training and digital da’wah materials. The findings show that QHLoA constructs religious knowledge through the interaction of revelatory texts, inner experience, digital mediation, and practical life orientation. Inner experience functions as both a medium of spiritual internalization and a source through which participants validate the relevance of religious teachings. The study also identifies a tension between QHLoA’s affective-pragmatic appeal and the need for stronger tawhidic orientation, adab formation, and critical reflection. This article contributes to Islamic educational epistemology by showing how revelation, experience, and practical reasoning are negotiated in contemporary Muslim learning spaces. It also argues for reflective pedagogy grounded in theological depth and ethical responsibility

Abstract

This study aims to analyze effective strategies for teaching Indonesian literacy to Thai learners in the Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) context. The study is motivated by the rapid development of BIPA in Thailand, alongside persistent challenges in students’ reading and writing skills caused by linguistic differences, cultural distance, and limited pedagogical adaptation. The main argument of this study is that Indonesian literacy learning for Thai students requires an integrated approach that combines linguistic competence, communicative practice, and intercultural understanding. This study employed a literature review method within the framework of Second Language Acquisition theory. Relevant studies on BIPA learning, Indonesian literacy, and second language pedagogy were analyzed thematically to identify dominant instructional approaches, their contributions, and the factors influencing their implementation in the Thai educational context. The findings show that genre-based, task-based, and intercultural approaches are the three main strategies used in BIPA literacy learning in Thailand. The genre-based approach supports students’ understanding of text structure and authentic language use. The task-based approach strengthens communicative competence through meaningful learning activities. Meanwhile, the intercultural approach helps learners understand Indonesian language use within its social and cultural contexts. The success of these approaches is influenced by students’ proficiency levels, linguistic differences between Thai and Indonesian, learning culture, availability of bilingual and authentic materials, and teachers’ pedagogical competence. This study implies that BIPA literacy instruction in Thailand should be designed through an integrated literacy strategy combining genre-based, task-based, and intercultural approaches. However, as a literature-based study, the findings are limited to conceptual and secondary data analysis. Further empirical research is needed to test the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in classroom practice.

Abstract

This study examines pesantren curriculum reconstruction in the digital era through the integration of Islamic values and modern knowledge at Miftahul Ulum Wongsorejo Islamic Boarding School. It responds to the gap between the increasing demand for educational digital transformation and the persistence of predominantly traditional curriculum practices in pesantren. The study argues that curriculum reconstruction should not be viewed as replacing Islamic educational identity, but as an adaptive transformation that enables pesantren to meet contemporary educational needs while maintaining their religious foundations. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation related to curriculum practices, learning activities, and institutional responses to digital-era challenges. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of curriculum adaptation, value integration, pedagogical change, and implementation constraints. The findings indicate that the curriculum is shifting from a traditional model toward an integrative model. Islamic values and modern knowledge are reflected in contextualized learning practices, although they have not been fully systematized in curriculum planning. Key challenges include limited educators’ digital competence, inadequate technological infrastructure, and concerns about technology’s negative impact on students’ morality and pesantren culture. The study offers practical insight for developing adaptive, value-based, and digitally responsive Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the ḥifẓ al-dīn program is designed, implemented, and interpreted in realizing the motto of SMA Plus Al-Azhar Jember. The study addresses the need to understand ḥifẓ al-dīn not only as a normative concept within Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, but also as a managerial framework for organizing school-based religious formation. Its key argument is that religious preservation becomes educationally meaningful when it is institutionalized through structured programs, daily habituation, and character-building activities. This study employed qualitative field research with a phenomenological orientation. Data were collected through two in-depth interview sessions with the principal on 24 April 2025 and 27 April 2025, supported by field observations of routine religious activities and documentation of school programs. The data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was strengthened through methodological triangulation and member checking. The findings show that the ḥifẓ al-dīn program is managed through two main orientations: strengthening students’ spirituality and forming Islamic character. Spiritual strengthening is reflected in Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā recitation, Qur’anic tadarus, Shalawat Nariyah, Duha prayer, congregational prayers, and Rohis activities. Islamic character formation is developed through leadership training, digital da‘wah, and Ta’lim Senin. These programs shape three main expressions in students’ daily lives: worship, adab, and achievement orientation. The study contributes to Islamic education scholarship by positioning ḥifẓ al-dīn as a practical framework for religious program management. However, because this study was limited to one school and one key informant, future research should involve broader participants and comparative school contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of honesty character in students of the  Master of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta from the perspective of Koellhoffer, with analytical implications,  using the Lickona character framework  (moral knowing, moral feeling, moral action). This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and then analyzed thematically. The results of the study show that students have a good cognitive understanding of academic honesty (originality of the work, copyright awareness, research integrity), have strong moral motivations, are often rooted in religious awareness and self-esteem, and display real behavior, such as meeting deadlines, rejecting plagiarism, and applying paraphrasing and citation techniques. However, the study also found a gap between knowledge and practice, triggered by deadline pressure, digital ease (copy-paste/AI), and the social dilemma of reprimanding friends. These findings reinforce the relevance of Koellhoffer in explaining the value of honesty and affirm Lickona's role in understanding the process of internalization to action.
