Abstract

The Hepatitis C virus (Hepatitis C virus, HCV), which belongs to the Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) virus, belongs to the Flaviviridae family and the Hepacivirus genus. The entry of this virus will produce antibodies against HCV which can be measured through serological examination which indicates a history of infection. This study aims to determine the results of the HCV Viral load examination in Hepatitis C patients at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta. This research was conducted descriptively using secondary data obtained from Medical Records and Clinical Pathology on the results of Viral load examinations on 225 patient data who underwent Viral load examinations. The results showed that 121 (53.8%) were detected and 104 (46.2%) were not detected. Based on the age category, high detectable Viral load results were found in the 36-45 year old age category (Lateadults) with a detected number of 27 (12%) patients, 46-55 years (Early elderly) detected 33 (14.7%) patients and age 65> (Elderly) was detected in 31 (13.8%) patients. Abstract

Tofu is a food source of protein that is widely consumed by the public. The high vegetable protein content in tofu is considered to be able to replace animal protein. According to the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), formalin is currently widely misused as a preservative in food products such as tofu. The Indonesian government has also banned the use of formaldehyde as a food preservative since 1982. Examination of the presence of formaldehyde in white tofu sold in five markets in the East Jakarta area was carried out qualitative tests using chromatopathic acid reagent and quantitative tests to determine levels. The research sample consisted of 18 samples from five markets in the East Jakarta area. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that of the 18 white tofu samples, 11 were positive and 7 were negative for containing formalin. Qualitative test results showed that 4 samples from the Cibubur market were 100% positive (5.85 ppm), 3 samples from the Obor market were 100% positive (5.62 ppm), 3 samples from the Kramat Jati main market were 100% positive (25.07 ppm), 4 samples from the Ciracas market were 25% positive (0.44ppm). The long-term goal is not to use formalin as a preservative in tofu. Special targets provide information to the public about the dangers of formaldehyde used as a preservative. The research method uses a direct research design during the period May–June 2023. The target output is published in a nationally accredited journal. Abstract

Typhoid fever is an acute systemic infectious disease caused by the Gram negative bacterium Salmonella typhi. Typhoid fever is still a global health problem for the world community, especially in developing countries. This study aims to determine thedescription of Salmonella typhi IgM positivity scale in typhoid fever sufferers at Pasar Rebo Jakarta Hospital. Investigations that can be carried out for the diagnosis of typhoid fever are the Salmonella typhi IgM serological test which is performed to detect acute typhoid fever through specific detection of serum IgM antibodies to Salmonella typhi antigen O9 lipopolysaccharide. The results showed that 100 people (59.2%) had positive Salmonella typhi IgM examination results and the normal leukocyte count examination results were 47 people (0.278%). The results of the leukocyte count in typhoid fever patients with leukopenia were 20 people (0.118%), the results of patients with normal leukocytes were 70 people (0.414%) and the results of patients with leukocytosis were 10 people (0.059%). The conclusion obtained in this study was to see the scale of Salmonella typhi IgM positivity with the number of leukocytes in patients with typhoid fever at Pasar Rebo Hospital,Jakarta. Therefore further research is needed with a larger number of samples that can affect the results of the Salmonella typhi IgM examination. Abstract

Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic compound and has the chemical name alpha-amino-hydroxylbenzyl-penicillin. This drug was initially developed to have an advantage over ampicillin: it can be better absorbed in the digestive tract. The chemical contents of mangosteen rind (KBM) are xanthone, mangostin, garcinone, flavonoids and tannins. In addition, mangostenol, mangostenone A, mangostenone B, trapezifolixanton, tovofilin B, alpha mangostin, beta mangostin, garsinone B, mangostinone, epicatechin, and mangostanol. Mangosteen (Garcinia Mangostana L.) has many pharmacological properties; KBM also has antimicroorganism properties. It is estimated that alpha mangostin and/or KBM extract works in a similar way to amoxicillin, namely stopping the formation of bacterial cell walls. Alpha mangostin (flavonoid) or KBM extract (clavulanic acid) have similar groups or active substances. The aim of this research is to prove the antibacterial mechanism of action of the combination of KBM (Garcinia mangostana L) extract with amoxicillin on the growth of MRSA bacterial cells. Conclusion: The MIC of commercial GML extract, amoxicillin against MRSA is 137.50 µg/mL and 250.00 µg/mL respectively. The checkerboard test showed synergistic activity of commercial GML (34.38 µg/mL) plus amoxicillin (62.50 µg/mL) against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or Staphylococcus aureus ATCC BAA-3. The FIC index of amoxicillin plus GML against MRSA strains was 0.50. The synergistic activity of this combination was confirmed by a 2 log10 CFU/mL reduction of these treated cells compared with amoxicillin treatment alone. Conclusion that the combination of commercial mangosteen peel extract and amoxicillin is able to inhibit the growth of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
