Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of errors made by students when working on exponent problems. Apart from that, research also analyzes the factors that cause mistakes made by students. Errors in working on questions consist of reading errors, understanding errors, transformation errors, processing errors and errors in writing the final answer. This research uses descriptive qualitative data analysis. Research subjects were determined using purposive sampling techniques. The research results showed that students made errors in understanding, transformation errors, process errors and errors in writing the final answer. The factors that cause this are students being in a hurry to work on questions, students also being unable to continue the process of working on questions because students do not understand the material and students are not careful in working on questions

Abstract

The purpose of this research is estimating shape parameter (θ) of  Lomax distribution with known shape parameter (β). Estimating parameter of Lomax Distribution using Bayesian Entropy Loss Function method with Gamma prior as conjugate prior of parameter (θ). The data used in this research is generated data which is obtained from R-Studio. Estimating parameter with Bayesian Entropy Loss Function Method from Lomax distribution with used shape parameter (θ=1) is  and estimating parameter with Bayesian Entropy Loss Function Method from Lomax distribution with used shape parameter (θ=1,5) is . Estimating shape parameter (θ) will be evaluated used AIC, AICc, and BIC method

Abstract

This study aims to produce GeoGebra-based and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) worksheets (LKPD) that are valid, practical, and effective in improving the understanding of mathematical concepts among seventh-grade students at SMPN 17 Kota Bengkulu. The research employs development studies methods with preliminary and prototyping phases through formative evaluation, including self-evaluation, one-on-one, expert review, small group, and field tests. The results indicate that the LKPD is deemed valid based on expert reviews and one-on-one evaluations after revisions in content, construction, and language. The LKPD is also practical and easy for students to use, as evidenced by small group trials and student feedback. The effectiveness of the LKPD is demonstrated by an increase in the average mathematics scores and classical learning completeness, with 89.28% of students achieving scores above the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) ≥ 75. This indicates that the GeoGebra-based and PBL LKPD is effective in enhancing students' understanding of mathematical concepts

Abstract

Connections in mathematics refer to linking mathematical concepts with other sciences and their application in everyday life situations. Solving mathematical problems related to context can be used to develop and assess students' mathematical abilities in making connections. This research aims to describe how junior high school students use mathematical connection abilities in solving predetermined contextual problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data was collected through initial ability tests and mathematical connection tests and interviews. The research results show that students with high mathematical abilities tend to be able to make mathematical connections by building mathematical models, link concepts conceptually by connecting elements in SPLDV, and operate mathematical procedures correctly. However, mathematical connections are rarely made because students do not understand the solution methods. Students who have low mathematical abilities, in general, are not able to make connections according to connection indicators. So, the conclusion is that students' ability to make mathematical connections affects their ability to solve contextual mathematical problems.

Abstract

Dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) is endemic in major cities in Indonesia. West Java Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia with a high number of DHF cases every year. To minimise the spread and increase of DHF cases can be done by controlling the factors that influence it. This study aims to categorise cities/districts in West Java based on factors that influence DHF cases. The data used are population density (Soul/ ), proper sanitation (%), healthy and clean living behaviour (%), access to proper water sources (%), and health index (%) in 27 cities/districts in West Java in 2021. In this study, the method used is the Hierarchical clustering method; namely the single linkage method, the complete linkage method, the average linkage method, and the ward method. The clustering methods are then compared based on the value of their standard deviation. The analysis results show that the best method used is the complete linkage method. The results of clustering areas in West Java based on factors affecting dengue cases obtained three clusters. Cluster 1 is the cluster with the highest level of dengue cases compared to other clusters. Cluster 1 consists of Depok city, Bogor city, Cirebon city, Bandung city, and Cimahi city. The characteristic of cluster 1 is that it has the highest average population density compared to other clusters. Cluster 2 consists of Cirebon, Bekasi, Banjar City, Bogor, Bandung, Karawang, West Bandung, Purwakarta, Kuningan, Majalengka, Pangandaran, Indramayu, Garut, Ciamis, Subang, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, and Sumedang. Cluster 2 has the characteristics of having the highest average percentage of households with access to proper sanitation, percentage of households with clean and healthy behaviour, and health index. Cluster 3 is Sukabumi City and Tasikmalaya City. Cluster 3 has characteristics with the lowest average in the percentage of households that have access to proper sanitation and the percentage of households with clean and healthy behaviour.

Abstract

Songket is called the "Queen of Textiles" because of its beauty and luxury, combined with the sparkle of gold and silver threads, is one type of textile. However, the selling value and economic potential of songket in Nagari Pandai Sikek are not in line with the number of craftsmen. This phenomenon was analyzed using mathematical modeling, focusing on local stability. As a result, three equilibrium points were found. The first equilibrium point describes a state in which there are only potential craftsmen. Meanwhile, the second equilibrium point indicates the presence of potential craftsmen, proficient craftsmen aged 18-35 years, and professional craftsmen, but no proficient craftsmen over 35 years old. At the third equilibrium point, there are potential craftsmen, proficient craftsmen over 35 years old, and professional craftsmen, but there are no proficient craftsmen aged 18-35 years. Bifurcation analysis shows that if the value is ,, then the songket craftsmen can still survive. However, if it is  the songket craftsmen will experience rapid decline and will slowly become extinct

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of habits of mind and self efficacy on students' critical thinking. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto method was employed for this research. The population consisted of students from SMP Negeri 6 Bengkulu City totaling 103 students. Instruments utilized included a critical thinking test, a habits of mind questionnaire, and a self efficacy questionnaire. Multiple Linear Regression was employed for data analysis. The results indicate that habits of mind and self efficacy significantly and positively influence critical thinking. The independent variables, habits of mind and self efficacy, explained 26.2% of the variation in the dependent variable, critical thinking, while the remaining 73.8% was influenced by factors not included in the study model

Abstract

The summative evaluation assessment model is a model combining formative assessment and summative assessment. Learning outcomes in Statistics courses were measured using the summative evaluation assessment model on students of the Information Systems Study Program at Indraprastha PGRI University Jakarta even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year as many as 185 students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the items of the summative evaluation assessment model of the Statistics Course as many as 13 items. This research uses quantitative methodology. Items analysis using the Rasch Model. The results of the study, namely: 1) as many as 4 items fit from 13 items, 2) item 11 is a difficult item with an item measure score of 0.55 logit, and item 12 is an easy item with an item measure score of -0.32 logit, 3) the instrument reliability score of 0.49 shows an unfulfilled category, and 4) the item reliability score of 0.98 shows an excellent category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the summative evaluation assessment model has not been maximised by lecturers. This is because lecturers have not been maximized in providing feedback on formative assessments and summative assessments. The researcher recommends the next research on how lecturers provide maximum feedback to students on formative assessments and summative assessments.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the ethnomathematics found in traditional Bandung snacks. Additionally, the author hopes that readers will gain a better understanding of this ethnomathematics. This research was conducted in several locations in the Bandung area. The research method used to explore this ethnomathematics is a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments used were observation sheets and interview guides. After exploring the ethnomathematics in traditional Bandung snacks, the author concluded that these traditional snacks are a rich heritage that must be preserved. The research results show the presence of cultural philosophy and mathematical concepts such as ratios and geometry of plane and solid shapes in traditional Bandung snacks

Abstract

Mathematics and culture are two things that are closely related to people's lives. Ethnomathematics can be an approach to learning mathematics to make it easier for students to understand mathematical concepts. Historical buildings can be objects for observing mathematical concepts. Al-Alam Mosque is one of the historic buildings in Jakarta which was built in 1520 AD. The Al-Alam Mosque was built by Sultan Fatahillah with the aim of spreading Islam as well as being a witness to the Portuguese liberation event from Sunda Kelapa. This research uses qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The ethnomathematics exploration of the Al-Alam Mosque that was studied was the geometric concept of the mosque building. In mosque buildings, mathematical concepts are found, which include flat shapes, spatial shapes, angular shapes and symmetrical shapes. This is an alternative solution to increase students' interest in studying mathematics by linking history and culture in everyday life
