Abstract

This study aims to analyze the philosophical thought of Islamic education from the perspectives of essentialism and reconstructionism as an effort to address the challenges of modern education. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, where the subjects are the concepts of essentialism and reconstructionism, and the object is their implementation in Islamic education. Data were collected through literature review from books, journals, and relevant scientific sources, then analyzed descriptively using content analysis techniques. The results show that essentialism in Islamic education emphasizes strengthening core values such as morality and spirituality to shape individuals with strong religious awareness, yet it faces challenges in integrating classical values with the rapid development of science and global culture. Meanwhile, reconstructionism focuses on renewing the understanding and application of Islamic values to make them more contextual and relevant amid complex social changes. The combination of both approaches creates an Islamic education paradigm that is not only strong in religious doctrine but also adaptive in responding to the demands of the times and encourages positive contributions to global society

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of teaching time management based on the principles of time management in Islam, the use of Islamic peer review methods, and spiritual learning environment innovations in improving the quality of student learning in MTs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns and relationships between research variables. The following is an adjustment of your research results to fit the request for a more detailed explanation of the method, including the number of participants, criteria, duration of observation, and data validation: The results show that the management of teaching time that follows Islamic principles, such as scheduling recitation activities on certain days such as Sunday Legi, increases student absorption through a more conducive learning atmosphere and inner peace. In addition, the Islamic peer review method based on the principles of deliberation (shura) and counsel (nashihah) has been proven to improve the quality of teaching by correcting shortcomings and strengthening strengths through constructive and collaborative evaluation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The number of research participants was 12 people, consisting of 6 teachers and 6 students in the MTS Alamiriyah environment. The criteria for selecting participants are based on active involvement in learning activities that integrate Islamic values, as well as a minimum of 1 year of experience in the environment. Observations and interviews were conducted for 2 months, with a frequency of field visits twice a week. Each interview session lasts between 45 to 60 minutes. For data validity, source triangulation was carried out (by comparing data from teachers, students, and school documentation), as well as member checking to ensure the accuracy of the researcher's interpretation of the respondent's statement. Innovations in the spiritual learning environment, such as spiritual assistance and daily dhikr, also play an important role in creating a more productive and meaningful learning atmosphere, by increasing student concentration, motivation, and character building. This study concludes that the integration of Islamic principles in learning management has a positive impact on the effectiveness of teaching and student development holistically, both intellectually and spiritually.

Abstract

The Sociocultural Learning Theory proposed by Lev Vygotsky guides educators to pay attention to students’ environments and cultural backgrounds in the learning process. This approach aims to make the internalization of learning more effective and meaningful. The implementation of Pesantren Ramadhan activities in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) implicitly reflects the application of this theory. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study focus. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included students, teachers, and organizers of the Pesantren Ramadhan program. The findings indicate that the Pesantren Ramadhan activities embody the principles of sociocultural theory. The tilawah (Qur’anic recitation) activity was conducted by empowering peers as facilitators. Discussions and public lectures emphasized social interaction. Various competitions were designed to support students’ Zones of Proximal Development (ZPD). Vygotsky’s sociocultural learning theory is concretely implemented in the Pesantren Ramadhan activities. Its application is evident in the recitation, discussion, and competition activities that reinforce social interaction and foster students' potential development

Abstract

This study explores the moral development strategies implemented at SD Muhammadiyah Suro to foster anti-bullying attitudes among elementary students. Bullying remains a serious concern in school environments, with detrimental impacts on children's physical, psychological, and social well-being. To mitigate this issue, schools are required to adopt comprehensive moral education approaches that nurture empathy, respect, and prosocial behavior. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the school principal, teachers, and selected students, as well as classroom observations. Secondary data were collected through document analysis of school policies and programs related to moral development. The findings reveal that the school integrates several key strategies: Islamic-based character education, positive behavior habituation, teacher modeling, and restorative conflict resolution practices. These efforts are also supported by extracurricular activities that promote empathy and collaboration among students. The study concludes that moral development strategies grounded in religious and character values, when consistently applied and supported by the involvement of educators, parents, and the broader school community, can cultivate a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment. Such strategies play a crucial role in shaping students’ moral awareness, fostering resilience, and promoting social responsibility.

Abstract

Learning in the current self-paced curriculum emphasizes a student-centered approach, requiring innovation in instructional strategies. At SMA Negeri 1 Jember, East Java, a model integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with digital literacy was implemented in the 2024/2025 academic year for Islamic Religious Education and Ethics. This study critically evaluates the planning, implementation, and assessment of the model, and analyzes its impact on student engagement, critical thinking, and learning outcomes. The research involved 10 Islamic Education teachers and 120 students from grades X and XI, selected through purposive sampling. Employing a qualitative field research approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and documentation analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, comprising data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation of sources and methods was applied to ensure validity and reliability. The findings show that the planning phase involved developing digital teaching modules and interactive presentations. Implementation followed a structured sequence of preliminary, core, and closing activities, while assessment utilized observational, formative, summative, and remedial tools. The study affirms that integrating digital literacy into a PBL framework enhances student participation, promotes higher-order thinking, and supports autonomous moral reasoning—key goals in Islamic Religious Education. Rooted in constructivist theory, this model demonstrates practical value for educators aiming to modernize religious instruction while maintaining its ethical and spiritual integrity, particularly within 21st-century digital learning contexts.

Abstract

The increasing moral decadence among secondary school students—manifested through indiscipline, brawls, bullying, and disrespect for authority—poses a significant challenge for educational institutions. This study aims to explore the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in addressing this moral decline through classroom-based interventions and external collaborations. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from eight informants, including school leaders, teachers, students, parents, and community figures. Techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation were used, with data analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, encompassing data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation of sources and techniques was applied to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that IRE teachers adopt a combination of preventive and corrective strategies, including the imposition of educational sanctions such as reciting toyyibah (e.g., tahlil, istighotsah), performing istighfar writing tasks, and engaging students in school clean-up activities. Character development is fostered through habituation of akhlaqul karimah, such as honesty and mutual assistance. Furthermore, active collaboration with school administrators, counseling staff, parents, and community leaders enhances the effectiveness of these moral interventions. This study contributes to the discourse on character education by highlighting the integrative and community-based approach of IRE teachers in mitigating moral decline among adolescents.
