Abstract

The skin needs antioxidant compounds that can ward off free radicals caused by several factors, one of which is air pollution. Bidara leaves (Zizipus spina Cristi (L) Desf) and benalu duku leaves (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) contain flavonoid compounds that function as antioxidants that can ward off free radicals. This study aims to formulate bidara leaf extract and benalu duku leaf into the form of Facemist preparation and determine the best Facemist product formula with the addition of bidara leaf extract, benalu leaf, and a combination of two extracts through antioxidant activity parameters. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-dipenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The Facemist sample was formulated into a Facemist with concentration variations: F1 : EEDB 5%, F2 : EEDBD : 5%, F3 : EEDB : 2.5% EEDBD 2.5%, F4 : EEDB : 5% EEDBD : 5%, F5 : EEDB : 10% EEDBD : 10%. Facemist preparations are eval_uated for their physical characteristics, namely organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, dry time test, irritation test. The results showed that Facemist was a combination of bidara leaf extract and benalu duku leaf homogeneous, pH <7, had a viscosity value of <500 cps, a good drying time of <5 minutes and did not cause irritation to the skin. The formulation of Facemist preparation that has the best antioxidant activity value is F5 with antioxidant activity (IC50) of 58.33 ppm in the strong category.

Abstract

Prescription screening is a critical phase in pharmaceutical services conducted bypharmacists and pharmaceutical technical personnel upon receiving aprescription from a patient. This study specifically aims to eval_uate the outcomesof prescription screening based on administrative and pharmaceutical conformityanalysis at Rasyida Hospital, Medan. The research method employed is adescriptive cross-sectional approach with a retrospective design, collecting datafrom the period of October to December 2023. The study reveals thatadministrative eval_uations in prescription screening include several essentialelements such as the patient's name, age/date of birth, address, body weight, the prescribing doctor's name and registration number (SIP), hospital address, doctor’s initials, practice phone number, and the prescription date. On the otherhand, pharmaceutical review focuses on elements such as the name of themedication. With the rising morbidity rate and increased medication use inhospitals, addressing drug-related problems—particularly those stemming frominappropriate medication use—has become more urgent. Prescriptionassessment plays a key role in preventing such issues. This study aims toidentify the elements with the highest level of incompleteness or prescribingerrors. Incomplete prescriptions are a major trigger for medication errors, making prescription screening by pharmacists across healthcare facilities—suchas hospitals, community health centers, and pharmacies—a critical practice.Screening encompasses both administrative and pharmaceutical aspects, highlighting the essential role of pharmacists in mitigating potential health risksfor patients.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant health issue in Indonesia, frequently referred to as a silent killer due to its asymptomatic nature. Hypertension complications may result in damage to essential organs, including the heart, brain, and kidneys, potentially culminating in chronic kidney failure (CKD). The therapy of hypertension and renal failure requires appropriate pharmacological intervention to avert complications and enhance patient quality of life. This research seeks to identify medications often prescribed to patients with hypertension and renal failure, ascertain the preval__ence of concurrent illnesses, and assess potential drug interactions in prescriptions at Rasyida Hospital Medan from October to December 2023. The research used a descriptive methodology via an analysis of patient prescriptions. The study's findings indicated the use of diverse combinations of antihypertensive medications and renal failure treatment, along with the possibility of drug interactions in multiple patient prescriptions.
