Abstract

COVID-19 is still a major problem and characterized by the development and progression of inflammatory responses. Assessment of disease degree includes several tools, such as the pneumonia severity index (PSI). However, because the pandemic occurs in all regions in Indonesia, not all health facilities have a complete diagnostic tool to assess the severity of pneumonia. It is necessary to have an easy, inexpensive, and readily available examination to determine the COVID-19 disease's severity, such as Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR). The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between NLR and PSI in COVID-19 patients. The research was carried out on the COVID-19 ward of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Hospital in February 2021. Examination of laboratory parameters and X-rays was carried out when the patients entered the Emergency Room at the hospital. A prospective cohort study, with the population being patients >18 years old with mild to critical COVID-19 and being admitted from February to March 2021. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test with SPSS 25, in which case p was deemed significant if it was <0.05. Results were obtained from 49 COVID-19 patients treated in the COVID-19 ward, whose mean age was 49.83 + 13.31, NLR and PSI were 8.85 + 13.25, 61.673 + 26.635, respectively. There was a strong positive correlation between NLR and PSI (p = 0.001; r = 0.488). NLR was correlated with PSI in COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

Disaster is a very sad condition for the victims of the disaster, which destroys, eliminates, and destroys all aspects of people's lives, even the lives of relatives affected by the disaster. The destruction of infrastructure, buildings, and houses experienced by the victims caused them to have no shelter and shelter for themselves and their relatives. The absence of shelter for them after the disaster will cause very worrying problems and will have a continued impact on their next life. Housing as a temporary shelter for them is a very urgent need and it is very important to be held quickly to meet the needs of their next life. The provision of fast housing for victims affected by disasters is the focus of this research. The method of providing fast homes with a modular system is a building method where building components are built based on module units. These modules are assembled and assembled for easy use and disassembly. This type of house is increasingly being adopted in many areas, especially in areas where there are many disasters, because of its speed and efficiency. In this study, the aesthetic aspects and the flexibility of the container are excluded, but the emphasis is on the availability of basic residential space and the arrangement of the basic space module. Therefore, various efforts have been made to meet user demands for different living spaces by using only a few module units using a one-room system consisting of a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area sufficient to meet basic living needs. daily. The function of the building is divided into three zones: service, public, and private.

Abstract

Gresik has a wealth of architectural buildings as historical buildings that are very diverse and spread in almost all areas of the city because the potential of the historic building can be to strengthen local identity. On the other, currently the growth of urban buildings in the Gresik area still only prioritizes functional needs, especially commercial buildings or buildings that have economic potential, especially those located on the main roads of Gresik. The visual growth of these buildings does not take into account the values of local wisdom that can characterize the appearance of local buildings, and even now many are neglected and are not even a major consideration in the current city's visual design thinking. The symbolization of the city must of course be a guide in regulating the visual growth of the city, it can develop according to the architectural potential of the old city which can be expressed in the design of the building or environment. The author's thought in this study is how is the role of local wisdom values as a source of approach in regulating visual design guidelines for building layouts and the local environment, especially in commercial buildings which have been growing quite rapidly. The research uses the descriptive analysis method through observation and literature study in an effort to solve research problems that arise in the field. The preparation of the design process uses an iconic approach to get the visual characteristics of the city that are expressed in buildings. The visual potentials of the city originating from old buildings can be input in the design process and make these potentials as markers of a place or environment in an effort to create the characteristics of a place or environment.

Abstract

Tambak Oso Village is a densely populated village and is traversed by one large river, the Buntung River. Currently, the Buntung River is silting up and full of water hyacinth, which causes various problems, including flooding, a reduced number of fish, and damage to the propellers of fishing boats. To reduce the presence of water hyacinth waste, training efforts are needed to process it into handicraft products, including placemats, trays, flower vases, tissue boxes, pencil cases, and other household knick-knacks. The technique used uses a plaiting technique and sticks because it is easy to do, the results are good and it does not require expensive tools. For the human resources who carry out this activity, PKK women, whose daily activities are usually only at home, sometimes help process fish ponds and catch fish. The method used in this training is divided into 2 stages. The first is counseling on how to process water hyacinth materials from taking the river to dry raw materials. The second is training on making handicraft products from water hyacinth waste using woven techniques. At this stage, they also showed examples of product designs for woven crafts from water hyacinth, which are good for exploring creativity with products including household appliances such as placemats, trays, flower vases, tissue boxes, and pencil cases. The results obtained from this service activity improve the skills of PKK members so that they can increase household income and reduce the problem of water hyacinth waste that fills the Buntung river in Tambak Oso Village, Sidoarjo, and can make Tambak Oso village better known and can later become a tourist village.

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are defined as a group of microbes that live in plant tissues that do not cause disease and are mutually related to the host plant, can be isolated from all parts of the plant were roots, stems, leaves, and seeds. Endophytic bacteria have the potential to produce natural products for agriculture, increase plant growth, and support the sustainable development of agriculture. The growth of endophytic bacteria in vitro generally uses a medium that contains nutrients including macronutrients, namely elements (C, H, O, and N), micronutrients, namely non-metallic elements (S and P), metallic elements (Ca, Zn, Na, K, Cu). , Mn, Mg, and Fe), vitamins, water, and energy. To meet these growth requirements, currently the growth and propagation of endophytic bacteria generally still use synthetic media which are expensive and in the field, mainly by farmers, are not easy to obtain. The study aimed to obtain an alternative medium made from beans for the growth and propagation of endophytic bacteria from lowland eggplants. The types of beans were soybeans, green beans, red beans, cowpeas, peanuts, and Nutrient Agar (NA) as control. Inoculation into the medium was done using the spread plate technique. This technique is preceded by a dilution and at dilution of 10-7 was taken 0.1 ml then to be spread on the growing medium. Observations were growing and colony counting was done 24 hours after inoculation. The results were: (1) endophytic bacteria from lowland eggplant can grow well on all mediums with the best growth on NA medium, (2) all media can be used as the propagation of endophytic bacteria from lowland eggplant plants, (3) the assumed of the growth curve is logarithmic with 4 phases were lag phase, exponential phase, stationer phase, death phase.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays) has an important role in the food supply in Indonesia, as the second commodity after rice and the second source of carbohydrates after rice which is a derivative of rice and is still considered feasible to meet national needs. The increase in national corn production is strongly supported by several corn production center provinces such as East Java and one of the districts that have the potential to support corn production in East Java is Jombang, but the reality the production experiences several obstacles, one of which is the presence of plant pest organisms (OPT). namely the fungus Peronosclerospora maydis caused by downy mildew. In the control of disease so far in the field, many use fungicides that are harmful to humans and the environment. The solution to reduce the use of fungicides is to utilize endophytic bacteria from eggplant and it has been formulated with organic fertilizer so that it is easier to apply to corn plants, this solution is expected to control disease rates, reduce losses, and improve corn plant health. The method used in community service in Mentaos, Gudo, and Jombang were situation analysis, problem identification, socialization that was attended by 25 farmers, and application of endophytic bacteria from eggplant plants in organic fertilizer formulas. The results obtained are that the people of Mentaos, Gudo, and Jombang were able to apply the endophytic bacterial formula in organic fertilizer with the sprinkle technique. The results show that the community can apply the endophytic bacterial formula, corn plants become healthy, and disease intensity is low.
