Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of elections from a supervisory perspective, focusing on the role of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in addressing money politics practices in Gorontalo City. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as interviews, documentation, and direct observation of monitoring and violation-handling processes. The results show that although Gorontalo City Bawaslu operates under a strong legal foundation—namely Law Number 7 of 2017 and Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) Number 1 of 2022—its implementation still faces numerous challenges on the ground. Out of 11 reported cases of alleged money politics, only 7 were successfully registered, while the rest could not be pursued legally. Four of these were categorized as serious violations, involving administrative, ethical, and criminal offenses. The main obstacles faced by Bawaslu include low public participation in reporting, limited access to the reporting system, insufficient supervisory capacity at lower levels, and weak law enforcement. Nevertheless, Bawaslu has taken several improvement initiatives, such as the Anti-Money Politics Village program and the use of social media for participatory supervision. The study concludes that the performance of Gorontalo City Bawaslu in handling money politics remains suboptimal and calls for comprehensive reforms in terms of resources, transparency, and strengthened collaboration with the public and law enforcement institutions to ensure clean, fair, and democratic elections.

Abstract

The intensive use of social media among individuals in early adulthood has the potential to cause negative psychological effects, one of which is brainrot. Brainrot refers to a condition characterized by cognitive fatigue, concentration difficulties, and passive overexposure to digital content. Happiness is suspected to play an important role in reducing such tendencies. This study aims to examine the relationship between happiness and the level of brainrot among early adults. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 196 participants aged 20 to 30 years who actively use social media were involved. Data were collected using a happiness scale and a brainrot scale developed by the researcher. The data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test. The results showed a significant negative correlation between happiness and brainrot (r = -0.176; p = 0.014), indicating that individuals with higher levels of happiness tend to experience lower levels of brainrot

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of female superheroes (heroines) in Marvel Studios films using Ruth Wodak's Critical Discourse Analysis approach. By examining three films: Captain America: The First Avenger, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Marvels, this study explores how the construction of gender and female power is presented in the narrative, dialogue, and visualization of female characters. Using Wodak's model, which focuses on historical, social, and political contexts, this study reveals how female representations are influenced by specific ideologies and social changes in the entertainment industry. The analysis reveals that despite the strengthening of women's roles as central and powerful characters, dominant narratives persist that subtly reproduce gender stereotypes and inequalities. This study demonstrates the importance of critically interpreting the representation of women in popular media, as well as how the construction of women's power and identity in fictional spaces also reflects gender dynamics in real society.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the role and implementation of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in sustainable development amidst globalization that is full of challenges. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. This study examines the thoughts of Sara Franch and other figures in various perspectives on global citizenship and their relevance in reconfiguring citizenship education. The results of the study indicate that the practice of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in its implementation in various Educational Institutions tends to focus on the aspects of qualifications and socialization. This focus leads to the unification of discourse oriented towards the development of global competence, which not only includes mastery of 21st century skills, but also prioritizes the formation of character and values of responsible, ethical, and participatory global citizenship. Global Citizenship Education (GCE) is identified as a means to prepare the younger generation to face an alternative, inclusive, and sustainable world. Seeing this, efforts to achieve sustainable development can only be achieved by promoting global social justice. This study emphasizes the importance of a subjectification approach, which is based on social justice and critical deconstruction of the dominant discourse.
