Abstract

Adolescence is characterized by physical and social changes that impact self-confidence, influenced by body image and the imaginary audience. This study aims to determine the relationship between these two variables and the self-confidence of adolescents attending Telkom Vocational High School in Lampung. Using a quantitative method with a correlational design, this study involved 223 students (57.8% female, mostly aged 16) selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a valid and reliable Likert scale (self-confidence, body image, imaginary audience) and analyzed using multiple linear regression using SPSS 26. The results showed an R² of 0.796, meaning that body image (32.83%) and the imaginary audience (46.68%) explained 79.6% of the variation in self-confidence. The majority of respondents had low self-confidence (65%), moderate-high body image (93.3%), and low imaginary audience (70.9%). The imaginary audience had a dominant influence. In conclusion, body image and the imaginary audience were significantly related to self-confidence, highlighting the need for interventions such as counseling to increase self-acceptance and social awareness to support the development of self-confidence in vocational high school adolescents. Keywords: Body Image, Imaginary Audience, Self-Confidence, Teenagers

Abstract

Changes in economic dynamics and increasing social exposure in the digital era influence how students perceive their financial conditions and may lead to the phenomenon of money dysmorphia, a distortion in evaluating financial reality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between money dysmorphia and subjective financial well-being among students of the Islamic Education Program at UIN Palangka Raya. This research employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 22 students, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The qualitative stage was conducted to explore students’ experiences and provide deeper explanations of the quantitative findings. The results show that the average score of money dysmorphia reached 41.76%, which falls into the low category based on the percentage of the maximum questionnaire score. A similar average score (41.76%) was found for subjective financial well-being, also categorized as low. The findings indicate a negative relationship between money dysmorphia and subjective financial well-being, where higher distortion in financial perception is associated with lower perceived financial well-being. These results suggest that students’ financial well-being is influenced not only by objective economic conditions but also by psychological factors such as financial perception and social comparison.

Abstract

The development of modern life, characterized by academic demands, social pressures, and rapid technological change, can impact the psychological well-being of individuals, particularly students. This condition can give rise to inner anxiety, known in the study of religious psychology as the concept of sick soul, a state of mind characterized by restlessness, loss of meaning in life, and emotional instability. In a spiritual context, religious practices are seen as one way to help individuals achieve inner peace and strengthen psychological balance. This study aims to analyze the relationship between religious practices and sick soul in college students. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design. The study subjects were 50 students from the State Islamic University of Palangka Raya, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring religious practices and sick soul. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Pearson Product Moment correlation test, and simple linear regression. The results showed a significant negative relationship between religious practices and sick soul, with a correlation coefficient of -0.383 and a significance level of 0.006. The regression analysis indicated that religious practices contributed 14.7% to the variation in sick soul. These findings indicate that the more religious practices students engage in, the lower their likelihood of experiencing mental illness. Therefore, religious practices can be understood as a spiritual strategy that plays a role in helping students maintain psychological balance and cope more adaptively with life's pressures.
