Abstract

Adolescence is characterized by physical and social changes that impact self-confidence, influenced by body image and the imaginary audience. This study aims to determine the relationship between these two variables and the self-confidence of adolescents attending Telkom Vocational High School in Lampung. Using a quantitative method with a correlational design, this study involved 223 students (57.8% female, mostly aged 16) selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a valid and reliable Likert scale (self-confidence, body image, imaginary audience) and analyzed using multiple linear regression using SPSS 26. The results showed an R² of 0.796, meaning that body image (32.83%) and the imaginary audience (46.68%) explained 79.6% of the variation in self-confidence. The majority of respondents had low self-confidence (65%), moderate-high body image (93.3%), and low imaginary audience (70.9%). The imaginary audience had a dominant influence. In conclusion, body image and the imaginary audience were significantly related to self-confidence, highlighting the need for interventions such as counseling to increase self-acceptance and social awareness to support the development of self-confidence in vocational high school adolescents. Keywords: Body Image, Imaginary Audience, Self-Confidence, Teenagers

Abstract

Changes in economic dynamics and increasing social exposure in the digital era influence how students perceive their financial conditions and may lead to the phenomenon of money dysmorphia, a distortion in evaluating financial reality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between money dysmorphia and subjective financial well-being among students of the Islamic Education Program at UIN Palangka Raya. This research employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 22 students, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The qualitative stage was conducted to explore students’ experiences and provide deeper explanations of the quantitative findings. The results show that the average score of money dysmorphia reached 41.76%, which falls into the low category based on the percentage of the maximum questionnaire score. A similar average score (41.76%) was found for subjective financial well-being, also categorized as low. The findings indicate a negative relationship between money dysmorphia and subjective financial well-being, where higher distortion in financial perception is associated with lower perceived financial well-being. These results suggest that students’ financial well-being is influenced not only by objective economic conditions but also by psychological factors such as financial perception and social comparison.

Abstract

The development of modern life, characterized by academic demands, social pressures, and rapid technological change, can impact the psychological well-being of individuals, particularly students. This condition can give rise to inner anxiety, known in the study of religious psychology as the concept of sick soul, a state of mind characterized by restlessness, loss of meaning in life, and emotional instability. In a spiritual context, religious practices are seen as one way to help individuals achieve inner peace and strengthen psychological balance. This study aims to analyze the relationship between religious practices and sick soul in college students. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design. The study subjects were 50 students from the State Islamic University of Palangka Raya, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring religious practices and sick soul. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Pearson Product Moment correlation test, and simple linear regression. The results showed a significant negative relationship between religious practices and sick soul, with a correlation coefficient of -0.383 and a significance level of 0.006. The regression analysis indicated that religious practices contributed 14.7% to the variation in sick soul. These findings indicate that the more religious practices students engage in, the lower their likelihood of experiencing mental illness. Therefore, religious practices can be understood as a spiritual strategy that plays a role in helping students maintain psychological balance and cope more adaptively with life's pressures.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a multifaceted and evolving social phenomenon shaped by psychosocial stressors, dysfunctional family environments, and unsupportive social contexts. In response to these pressures, adolescents employ various coping strategies as forms of psychological defense. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine the coping strategies used by delinquent adolescents and the effectiveness of coping-based interventions in reducing deviant behavior. Utilizing PRISMA guidelines and a PICO framework, 14 relevant articles published between 2019 and 2025 were systematically analyzed. The synthesis indicates that adaptive coping—such as problem-focused strategies, social support, and active engagement—contributes to improved psychological well-being and reduced delinquent behavior. Conversely, maladaptive coping, including avoidance, withdrawal, and denial, tends to exacerbate psychological distress and increase the risk of misconduct. Gender differences also emerge, with males more likely to rely on avoidance strategies and females more inclined to seek social support. Coping-based interventions, including Compassion-Focused Therapy and the Good Lives Model, demonstrate effectiveness in enhancing emotional regulation and fostering motivation for behavioral change. Nevertheless, limitations remain in long-term evaluation and the lack of culturally contextualized approaches. Future efforts should focus on developing adaptive, evidence-based interventions that support adolescents’ psychological well-being holistically and sustainably. Abstract

Abstract Final-year students are vulnerable to academic stress due to the demands of completing a final project, time pressure, and academic and social expectations. Academic stress that is not properly managed can negatively affect students’ psychological well-being and academic performance. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support and the stress levels of final-year students. This study employed a quantitative method with 184 final-year students as participants, selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results indicate that self-efficacy and social support significantly contribute to the stress levels of final-year students, with a contribution value of 22,23%. This study emphasizes that enhancing self-efficacy and providing adequate social support play an important role in helping reduce stress levels among final-year students. Keywords: self-efficacy, social support, stress levels of final-year students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of peer social support and academic stress on the academic resilience of final year students working on their thesis. Academic resilience is a student's ability to withstand and recover from pressure and challenges that arise during the thesis writing process. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method involving 271 students from six universities in Bandar Lampung City. The data collection instrument is a closed questionnaire using a Likert scale to measure three variables: peer social support, academic stress, and academic resilience. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression tests, as well as classical assumption tests such as normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. The results show that peer social support has a positive and significant effect on the academic resilience of final year students. Meanwhile, academic stress and academic resilience have no significant effect. The peer social support variable provides a greater contribution than academic stress, with coefficient values of 0.730 and -0.017, respectively. The R-square value of 0.523 indicates that 52.3% of the variation in academic resilience can be explained by the two independent variables. This finding confirms the importance of both internal and external factors, indicating that academic resilience has a stronger relationship with peer social support than with academic stress. Thus, academic resilience makes a significant contribution in helping final-year students face academic challenges during the thesis writing process..

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role self-acceptance and sosial support as predictors of gratitude among parents of children with special needs. This research employed a quantitative survey design. A total of 76 parents of children with special needs from a public special education school in Pekanbaru. Indoensia, werw selected using random sampling. Data were collected using standardized psychological scales measuring self-acceptance, social support, and gratitude. Statistical analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS version 20 for Windows to assess the predictive contribution of self-acceptance and social support to gratitude. The findings reealed that the levels of self-acceptance (97.36%), social support (86.84%), and gratitude (100%) were predominantly in the high category. Regression analysis indicated that self-acceptance and social support significantly predicted gratitude, with a contribution value of 0.207, meaning that both variables explained 20.7% of the variance in gratitude among parents of children with special needs. The study highlights the importance of strengthening internal psychological resources (self-acceptance) and external support systems (social support) to foster gratitude in parents raising children with special needs. However, the study is limited by its relatively small sample size and focus on a single institution, which may affect generalizability. Future research should include broader samples and additional psychosocial variables. This study contributes to the positive psychology literature by examining gratitude from both intrapersonal and interpersonal perspectives in the context of parenting children with special needs—an area that remains underexplored, particularly within Indonesian cultural settings.

Abstract

Female students living in dormitories encounter various academic, social, and emotional challenges that require resilience to adapt effectively. Gratitude and peer support are considered important factors that help individuals cope with pressures and challenges during dormitory life. This study aimed to examine the influence of gratitude and peer support on resilience among female students residing in Al-Hamdani Dormitory. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The participants were 105 female students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using gratitude, peer support, and resilience scales that met validity and reliability requirements. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that gratitude and peer support simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on resilience, F(2,102) = 181.66, p < .001, explaining 78.1% of the variance in resilience (R² = .781). Partially, gratitude (t = 6.10, p < .001) and peer support (t = 3.65, p < .001) were significant predictors of resilience. These findings indicate that higher levels of gratitude and stronger peer support are associated with higher resilience among female students in coping with academic demands, social adjustment, and challenges of dormitory life. This study contributes empirical evidence regarding resilience within a dormitory-based educational setting that remains relatively underexplored in Indonesian psychological research.
