Abstract

Farmers in Sumbersari village, located in Bandung district, were in great need of assistance in effectively managing their paddy fields to ensure the production of high quality and high yield rice. One crucial factor that significantly impacts it is the proper application of urea fertilizer based on the conditions of the paddy plants, which can be determined by measuring the chlorophyll content present in the leaves of paddy plants. Therefore, mentoring and literacy activities were held to educate farmers on the utilization of a chlorophyll content measuring device which is the result of research previously conducted by the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Kristen Maranatha so that farmers are able to measure the precise amount of fertilizer that must be applied in accordance to the needs of their paddy plants. The mentoring methods covered socialization, demonstration, and hand-on practice with the measuring device. As the result, all farmers became proficient in using the measuring device that had previously been developed. The device’s size and weight are appropriately designed making it convenient for farmers to carry the device the fields and measure the chlorophyll content in the leaves of paddy plants.

Abstract

Paralympic students in grades 1 to 12 with permanent disabilities in the movement organs (bones, joints, muscles) in the Special School category D (SLB-D) YPAC Bandung City have been equipped with basic Mobility Orientation (OM) technical skills to be able to carry out activities and mobility. Independent. One of the OM techniques taught to people with quadriplegia in the categories of Paraplegia (abnormalities in both legs and feet) and Diplegia (abnormalities in both hands or paralyzed legs) is the use of a manual wheelchair. Even though all quadriplegic students already have OM abilities. However, many students are reluctant to use manual wheelchairs independently. The problem is because it is considered to drain stamina, difficulty controlling it, and fear of using it on uphill/downhill/sloping/potholed roads. So it was proposed that the mobile electric wheelchair be controlled by the physically disabled via a manual button, and as a safety measure, it is equipped with an anti-crash sensor. Anti-crash sensors help the wheelchair move automatically (slow down, stop) if an object is in the way. In implementing this PKM, the team carried out knowledge and technology transfer to Instructors/Teachers/Parents of Students and testing for the Physically Impaired. The results of this activity are in the form of electric wheelchairs that have been tested.

Abstract

Cloud computing has become a pervasive technology across various industries, with both established corporations and burgeoning start-ups transitioning from on-premises data centers to cloud services, making it one of the disruptive technologies in the ongoing digital transformation. In this era of disruptive digitalization, it is imperative for Vocational High School (SMK) students to continually improve their skills and knowledge to meet the dynamic demands of the job market, not only in the present but also in unpredictable times. However, the integration of cloud computing technology into SMK curricula has been unevenly executed. To address this gap, a community service program (PKM) was carried out with the primary objective of imparting cloud computing expertise to both vocational teachers and students in Purwakarta Regency. The methodology implemented in the PkM activities combined theoretical and practical elements within each training module. Amazon Web Service (AWS) was selected as the cloud computing service platform for its prominent market share and performance compared to similar platforms so that the benefits achieved from this training could be maximized. In the long run, it is hoped that cloud computing technology is successfully implemented in SMKs throughout the region.

Abstract

All students and teachers with Visual Sensory Disabilities (PDSN) in the State Special School Category A (SLBN-A) Citeureup Cimahi City have been equipped with basic Mobility Orientation (OM) technical skills to be able to carry out independent activities and mobility. The OM technique uses five still-functioning senses: a white cane and a guide. Another problem from the assistant's side was that both class and dormitory teachers felt worried/anxious regarding PDSN students' whereabouts in the school environment. PKM's output for making sticks is focused on ergonomics, ease of installation, use, and functions that do not burden the PDSN. The stick will detect objects before you and inform you about them through sound (beep), vibration, or a combination. In implementing this PKM, the team carried out knowledge and technology transfer to the Instructors/Teachers as well as testing to the PDSN. This activity results in an electronic walking stick that has been tested.
