Abstract

Flooding in rice fields often occurs as a result of overflowing rainwater or overflowing river water. In addition, irrigation also often overflows and inundates farmers' fields. The way that is often done to overcome this is usually done every few minutes to the fields. An automatic tool is needed that can be used to be able to monitor water level activities that occur in rice fields. In that case farmers can make the best and timely decisions when rice fields will be flooded. The design process of this tool is carried out in 2 stages, namely the area analysis stage and the design of the tool design which will be carried out with the characteristics of rice fields in Teluklada village. The Water Level Measuring Tool as a Flood Indicator in Rice Fields is designed as a flood indicator by utilizing the HCSR04 sensor work function to detect water rise that occurs. Residents who received the notification message were surprised when they first received the flood warning message and felt helped by the presence of this water level measuring instrument because it can monitor rice fields remotely.

Abstract

Providing technopreneurship training through Internet of Things-based Smart Energy System Applications is part of our commitment to community service, with the aim of developing entrepreneurial and technological skills among students. This program was designed to provide a deep understanding of the concepts and applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) in smart energy systems, while preparing students to become technopreneurs in the digital era. Evaluation assessments were conducted by measuring training satisfaction through a post-training questionnaire, and the results indicate that, overall, participants expressed satisfaction and derived benefits from this training. The hope is that this training will serve as a strong starting point for students as they embark on their journey as technopreneurs, drive innovation in smart energy systems and contribute to the future development of the digital economy.

Abstract

SLB Purnama Asih is a Special Education School in the Ciwaruga area, just behind the Bandung State Polytechnic campus. There are now 49 students and eight teachers, including the Principal. With a huge number of students and the situation of children who require special monitoring, a monitoring system that can assist instructors in monitoring students in their activities and interactions at school is required. It is important to design and construct a Closed Circuit Television  (CCTV) security system at several school locations to address this. CCTV installation in schools can assist in increasing security and identifying possible threats or criminal activity. It can also assist the school in taking action in an emergency. The procedure that will be followed is installing and training the CCTV security system. The training strategy that will be used is to provide theoretical and practical information. The survey data from 12 respondents, using the Likert approach, revealed that this system was in the excellent range, with a percentage of 96.67%.

Abstract

In Desa Puteng, an agricultural village within Bengkayang Regency, corn cultivation plays a significant role in the local economy. However, farmers in this community often encounter challenges in effectively fertilizing their corn crops, resulting in diminished productivity. To address this issue, an innovative approach to enhance training for the creation of simple and effective corn fertilizer tools was introduced through the use of video tutorials, which helped overcome language barriers, and offered visual, step-by-step guidance. This approach is aimed at improving the effectiveness of training and ensuring that farmers can easily access knowledge and skills, thereby increasing their agricultural productivity. Moreover, it also has the potential to disseminate agricultural information and technology to remote farming communities, contributing to the overall agricultural development in the region. This project was initiated by Institut Shanti Bhuana, with the primary goal of empowering the local corn farming community through effective training in corn fertilizer tool construction using innovative video tutorials. The objectives were to enhance farmers' understanding on efficient corn fertilization, teach them simple yet effective tool-making techniques, and overcome language barriers. Through the implementation of this project, Institut Shanti Bhuana aspires to create a positive impact on farmers' lives and elevate the overall welfare of rural communities.

Abstract

The use of cloud computing technology is currently increasingly widespread. The purpose of this community service is to introduce vocational high school students and teachers to cloud computing and implement it to solve computational problems. Participants are introduced to cloud architecture, the advantages of using cloud, various cloud service providers, and different categories of products that the cloud service providers deliver. During the training, participants are provided with the case studies on the use of three products available on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), i.e., Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Vision API. As a result, participants are able to create virtual machines using Compute Engine, publish static web pages using Cloud Storage, and create an application to detect the name and location of a landmark from an image using Cloud Vision API. After this activity, participants are expected to be able to explore other cloud products available and use them to create their own projects.

Abstract

Everyday life depends on control systems. If a system has a good control system, it will give you the results we want. Through the control system, we can change things like temperature, speed, pressure, level, and other physical numbers to the way you want them to be. There are two kinds of control system: open loop control and closed loop control. The open loop control system is the easiest to use because the person controls the system without getting any feedback. While the closed loop control system will get feedback from the system output so that the system will automatically reach the desired state. Teachers and children at vocational school in Purwakarta get to try out open loop and closed loop control system applications during this community service project. This is important so that teachers and students can get the experience in control system application.

Abstract

In some communities, the elderly are often seen as a burden rather than valuable assets. This view not only diminishes their intrinsic value within families and society but also overlooks their potential to make significant contributions. This community service focuses on the importance of integrating the elderly into productive activities that not only improve their health and psychological well-being but also reduce the social and economic burden on the younger generation. Through involvement in environmentally friendly product manufacturing projects such as granular fertilizer and liquid soap made from eco-enzymes, the elderly are given the opportunity to participate in meaningful efforts and become agents of change that support environmental sustainability. This service utilizes a participative approach, emphasizing the active involvement of the community at RW 7, Ngesrep Sub-district, Banyumanik District, Semarang, especially the elderly group (55-75 years), in all stages of activity, from planning to implementation and evaluation. It also involves students as a manifestation of the Institutional Key Performance Indicators (IKU) with indicators of student activities outside the campus. The exploration of these activities is expected to change the public's perception of the elderly, portraying the elderly group as a transformative resource. The introduction of environmentally friendly technology, involving them in production, is expected to enhance environmental sustainability and maximize the welfare of the elderly (Sustainable Elderly). The conclusion of this service underscores the urgency to change policies and social practices to include the elderly more inclusively in all aspects of community life. The implications of these findings lead to policy recommendations that are more focused on the integration and empowerment of the elderly, particularly at RW 7, and the introduction of eco-enzyme product diversification, namely granular fertilizer and liquid soap.

Abstract

Off-Grid Solar Power Plant is a power generation system that uses solar energy. Battery maintenance is important in maintaining the stability of this system. This research focuses on battery maintenance by checking in a keHua monitoring tool for 389 battery units and monitoring the battery graph for 30 days. The results showed that there were 15 batteries that experienced a voltage drop below 1.83 Volts. The voltage drop occurred between 21:00 and 00:00, so the batteries were considered damaged. The battery capacity requirement on Mules Island, East Nusa Teggara increased from 778 kWh in 2019 to 936.9 kWh in 2021. To maintain the reliability of the Off-Grid Solar PV system on Mules Island, it is necessary to replace 15 damaged battery units and add a new battery capacity of at least 157.9 kWh so that the system can run well and customers can enjoy electricity for 24 hours as at the beginning of the implementation.

Abstract

The advancement of technology particularly in telecommunications, has led to the creation of various software applications that are beneficial to human life. One such application is modern attendance management systems. The objective of this research is to construct and implement a QR-code-based attendance information system for teachers and staff at SD Pertiwi Kota Bandung. The research methodology comprises socialization, counseling, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The responses indicate that the application has met or exceeded user expectations in terms of functionality and accessibility. Of the respondents, 30.74% gave "Normal" responses, 41.85% gave "Baik" responses, and 27.41% gave "Sangat Baik" responses. Additionally, the responses from program partners, SD Pertiwi, Bandung City, indicate positive evaluation and feedback.. The results of this development are intended to improve the accuracy of the attendance process, facilitate teachers and staff in reporting attendance, and minimize fraud and human error.

Abstract

The fire alarm system is an early warning system for fire hazards in buildings and must be owned by large buildings. The Inalum building is a new building with a green building concept. The building will be operational in 2021 and inaugurated by the Minister of BUMN of the Republic of Indonesia. The partner's problem is that not all employees in charge master the operation of the fire alarm Master Panel. Because as a green building requirement, Inalum is obliged to employ residents. As a result, building management workers need to be more experienced. The purpose of this activity is to provide training to increase the capability of the fire alarm system in the training given the introduction, operation, re, and maintenance of fire alarm systems. This activity received positive feedback with a level of satisfaction with an average score of 4.37 on a scale of 5 from the trainees. Evaluation of the success of the training activities, which was initially 45.60% through the initial test at the start of the training, increased to 77.16% after the training. This evaluation means a significant increase in the trainees' ability by 33.56%.
