Abstract

Learning materials used in elementary schools are still primarily limited to printed textbooks and have not been systematically designed to support the stages of reading comprehension. As a result, many fifth-grade students continue to experience difficulties in understanding texts, identifying explicit information, and drawing conclusions from reading passages. This research and development aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the digital learning module based on the SQ3R model on narrative text material towards the reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students of SDN Tanjung Jati 2. This study uses the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, development phase, and assessment phase. The research subjects include material experts, learning design experts, and teaching material experts as validators. Individual tests were conducted on 3 sixth-grade students, small group tests on 6 sixth-grade students, and field tests on 19 fifth-grade students. The results of the study showed that the developed module met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validity of the product was shown by the validation results of material experts at 82%, learning design experts at 97%, and teaching material experts at 96%. The practicality of the product was shown through observations of teacher activities at 96.65% and student activities at 92.05%. The effectiveness of the product was shown by classical learning completeness at 94.73%. Thus, the digital learning module based on the SQ3R model is declared valid, practical, and effective for use in learning Indonesian in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Think, Talk, Write (TTW) cooperative learning model assisted by Pop-Up Book media on fourth-grade students' mathematical communication skills in fraction material at SDN 1 Sokong. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 62 students divided into an experimental class (IV A, n=32) and a control class (IV B, n=30). The research instrument was an essay test measuring three indicators of mathematical communication: (1) writing ideas in mathematical sentences, (2) selecting concepts for problem solving, and (3) formulating mathematical models. Data were analyzed using normality tests (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), homogeneity tests (Levene's Test), and Independent Sample t-test through SPSS. Results showed a significant effect of the TTW model assisted by Pop-Up Book on students' mathematical communication skills (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 < 0.05). The experimental class achieved a post-test mean of 81.25, significantly higher than the control class mean of 63.44. Effect size analysis yielded Cohen's d = 2.31, indicating a very large practical effect. Previous studies have generally examined the effectiveness of TTW or Pop-Up Book separately; however, their integration for improving mathematical communication skills in fraction material at the elementary school level has rarely been investigated. These findings indicate that the integration of TTW with Pop-Up Book media is effective in enhancing mathematical communication skills in fraction material.

Abstract

Reading comprehension ability is one of the essential skills that elementary school students must master. However, students still experience difficulties in understanding implicit information and evaluating the content of texts, indicating the need for a more effective learning model. This study aimed to determine the difference in the effects of the Jigsaw and STAD cooperative learning models on the reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students at UPTD SDN Banyuajuh 3. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The study was conducted at UPTD SDN Banyuajuh 3. The sample was selected using the cluster sampling technique. The participants consisted of Class V-B as the experimental group and Class V-A as the control group. The research instruments included an essay test as the test instrument and an observation sheet as the non-test instrument. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test to examine data normality, the homogeneity of variance test to examine data homogeneity, and the Independent Sample t-test to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.030 (< 0.05), indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, there was a significant difference in the effect of the Jigsaw and STAD cooperative learning models on the reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students at UPTD SDN Banyuajuh 3.

Abstract

Learning outcomes in Pancasila Education are influenced by the instructional models and media. Teacher-centered instruction often results in low student engagement, preventing learning outcomes from reaching their potential. This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model, assisted by Powtoon media, on the Pancasila Education learning outcomes of grade XI students at MA Ad-Dinul Qayim, West Lombok. A quantitative approach was adopted, utilizing a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of 43 students, including 22 students in the experimental group and 21 students in the control group. Data were collected through observation and testing and subsequently analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk, Mann-Whitney U test, Levene’s statistic, Independent Samples t-test, and N-Gain Score analysis. The results revealed that the experimental group’s mean post-test score (85.27) was higher than that of the control group (72.76). The N-Gain test results showed that the experimental group achieved a score of 0.7208 (72.08%), falling into the high category, whereas the control group achieved a score of 0.6283 (62.82%), falling into the medium category. Thus, the Powtoon-assisted NHT model has a significant effect on Pancasila Education learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of student activity, critical thinking skills, communication skills, and Indonesian language learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at SDN Karya Baru. Initial classroom observations showed that learning remained teacher-centered, provided limited opportunities for structured collaboration, and rarely trained students to analyze texts and communicate the reasons for their answers. This study aimed to describe teacher activity and analyze improvements in student activity, critical thinking, communication, and learning outcomes through the BARAKAT model, which integrates Problem Based Learning, Numbered Heads Together, and Talking Stick. This classroom action research was conducted in four meetings involving 15 students. Data were collected through observation and learning outcome tests and analyzed descriptively. Teacher activity increased from 19 to 32; student activity increased from 27% to 87%; critical thinking skills increased from 13% to 87%; communication skills increased from 20% to 87%; and classical learning mastery increased from 20% to 100%. These findings indicate that BARAKAT supports active and collaborative Indonesian language learning by linking problem analysis, individual accountability in groups, and equitable speaking opportunities.

Abstract

Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers' professionalism is a key element in ensuring the quality of school counseling services. Alongside pedagogical and technical competencies, the counselor’s personal development plays a strategic role in establishing therapeutic relationship effectiveness. This study aims to explore the reinforcement of BK teachers' professionalism through the counselor's personal development in high school counseling practices. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a single-case study design, this research involved a BK teacher at SMAN 3 Selong, purposively selected based on over 15 years of experience and a track record as a national instructor. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The results reveal that professionalism reinforcement based on personal development manifests in four primary processes: (1) self-reflection on handling critical cases, (2) managing student emotions through integrating coaching techniques and the restitution triangle, (3) independent competency development by designing assessment instrument applications, and (4) internalizing professional ethics and multi-directional interpersonal communication. This process significantly enhances emotional maturity, interpersonal competence, active listening skills, and professional courage in mediating. This study recommends integrating personal approach training and micro-counseling techniques during undergraduate studies.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of an Indonesian language teaching module based on six didactic components: epistemic, cognitive, interactional, mediational, affective, and ecological at State Elementary School 29 Ampenan. This study is an evaluative study with a qualitative approach using the Didactical Suitability model . Most previous studies have focused on the effectiveness of teaching modules in improving learning outcomes, whereas studies evaluating the quality of teaching modules using the Didactical Suitability framework remain very limited. Data were collected through structured observations, in-depth interviews, and module documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman method. The results show that the teaching module generally fully meets the epistemic and interactional components, but there are still shortcomings in several cognitive, mediational, affective, and ecological indicators. For example, some students are less active in reading the module, and in one class the learning atmosphere is not fully conducive. Interviews with teachers indicate that the module is easy to use and relevant to students' needs, but module evaluation has not been carried out optimally. This study contributes to the development of Didactical Suitability-based evaluation of teaching materials in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools and serves as a basis for teachers and schools to improve the quality of teaching modules to better suit the needs and characteristics of students.
