Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the implications of the implementation of the moral police for school culture at SD Muhammadiyah Kranggan. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted, involving the principal, teachers, student members of the moral police, and non-member students selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model. The results show that the moral police strengthens religious values, discipline, politeness, social responsibility, cleanliness and healthy habits, learning culture, honesty, and environmental awareness through continuous habituation and active student participation. Its implementation is supported by the principal, teachers, school regulations, and collaboration among all members of the school community. However, several challenges remain, including unequal student awareness of school rules, limited self-confidence among some student members when reminding their peers, and limited supervision. These findings suggest that the moral police program is an effective strategy for strengthening school culture through consistent habituation. The findings also provide practical implications by serving as a reference for other schools in developing character education programs based on students' active participation to foster a positive and sustainable school culture.

Abstract

Operational quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) from the C-Band weather radar in Jakarta still relies on the generic Marshall-Palmer (Z=200R^1.6) and Rosenfeld Tropical (Z=250R^1.2) Z-R relationships, neither calibrated to the local Drop Size Distribution (DSD) of convective rainfall in this tropical maritime region. This study aimed to derive a locally modified Z-R coefficient specific to convective rain, defined as rain rate ≥10 mm/hour, using a statistical regression optimization approach. Volumetric raw data (.vol) from the Tangerang C-Band radar were paired with hourly rainfall records from 32 automatic rain gauges (ARG and AWS) within a 50 km radius during January–April 2024, following Column Maximum (CMAX) extraction and quality control procedures. Linear regression on log-transformed reflectivity and rainfall data yielded a new convective equation, Z=152R^1.4, with a correlation coefficient of 0.6972 and coefficient of determination of 0.4861. These moderate values are consistent with the naturally wide Drop Size Distribution spectrum of convective rainfall, rather than indicating a weak physical relationship between reflectivity and rain rate. Taylor Diagram verification showed the new equation sustaining a correlation of approximately 0.95, close to observed variability, with root mean square error near 3.9 dBZ, outperforming Marshall-Palmer and Rosenfeld Tropical in balancing correlation and standard deviation under convective conditions. These findings support operational adoption of a locally derived convective Z-R relationship for Jakarta's radar-based rainfall estimation.

Abstract

The low mastery of problem solving, critical thinking, and opinion-expressing skills among Grade V students at SDN Kuin Utara 1 was evident from baseline data showing that 65% of students tended to be passive, 75% struggled to turn a problem into a question, 70% found it difficult to draw logical conclusions, and 82% were not yet confident in expressing their opinions. This study aimed to describe teacher and student activities and to analyze the improvement of these three skills through the implementation of the PENA model in Pancasila Education. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Example Non-Example (ENE), and Numbered Head Together (NHT) into a single learning model, PENA, designed to develop these three 21st-century skills simultaneously. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design carried out in four meetings, involving 22 fifth grade students of the 2025/2026 academic year at SDN Kuin Utara 1 Banjarmasin. Qualitative data were obtained through observation of teacher activity, student activity, and the three target skills, while quantitative data were obtained from individual cognitive learning tests. The results showed consistent improvement at every meeting: teacher activity increased from a score of 27 to 32 (very good criterion), and classical student activity increased from 18% to 91% (very active criterion). Students' problem-solving, critical thinking, and opinion-expressing skills increased from 23%, 18%, and 18% respectively to 91% (very skilled criterion) by the fourth meeting, while classical mastery of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes rose from 59% to 100%, exceeding the minimum success indicator of ≥76%. It can therefore be concluded that the implementation of the PENA model is effective in improving learning activity as well as problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to express opinions among fifth-grade students in Pancasila Education.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether the use of the Role Playing learning method has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of third-grade students at UPTD SDN Kamal 2 in the Pancasila Education subject. The novelty of this study lies in the implementation of the Role Playing learning method on the topic of rights and responsibilities in Pancasila Education based on the Merdeka Curriculum for third-grade elementary school students. This research employed a quantitative approach using an experimental research design. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of all 40 third-grade students at UPTD SDN Kamal 2, who were divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through classroom observations and achievement tests. The test instrument was examined for validity, reliability, and item difficulty. The prerequisite analyses included normality and homogeneity tests, while the research hypothesis was tested using an independent samples t-test. The findings revealed that the calculated t-value (t = 2.490) was greater than the critical t-value (t = 2.024), with a significance value of 0.017 (< 0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. These results indicate that the implementation of the Role Playing learning method has a significant positive effect on the learning outcomes of third-grade students in the Pancasila Education subject at UPTD SDN Kamal 2. The findings also suggest practical implications for teachers, indicating that the Role Playing learning method can serve as an innovative instructional strategy to enhance students' participation, engagement, and academic achievement, particularly in learning about rights and responsibilities within Pancasila Education.

Abstract

Creative thinking is a 21st-century competency that needs to be fostered through Indonesian language instruction, particularly in poetry writing. However, observations indicate that students' creativity in writing poetry varies, especially regarding idea development, diction, and the crafting of poetic expressions. This study aims to analyze the creative thinking abilities of fifth-grade students in writing poetry and to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder this process. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving 30 fifth-grade students selected via purposive sampling and the class teacher as a supporting informant. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with validity verified through source, technique, and time triangulation. The results show that students' creative thinking abilities have developed across the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, though not yet optimally for all students. Creativity is influenced by learning motivation, teacher support, the learning environment, and vocabulary mastery, whereas low self-confidence and limited experience act as inhibiting factors. These findings highlight the importance of implementing contextual, creative, and student-centered instruction to foster creative thinking skills in poetry writing at MI Muhammadiyah 4 Brangsi.

Abstract

Learning on the topics of production, distribution, and consumption in elementary schools is still dominated by conventional teaching methods and limited learning media, resulting in low student engagement, inadequate social literacy, and unsatisfactory learning outcomes. Since these topics are closely related to students' social interactions and everyday economic activities, learning media that integrate social literacy are needed to promote meaningful learning experiences. This study aimed to develop social literacy-based diorama media and to determine its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which comprises the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 39 fifth-grade students from SDN 1 Kerjo, SDN 3 Kedungsigit, and SDN 3 Jatiprahu in Trenggalek Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests. The results showed that the media received validation percentages of 87% from subject matter experts, 78% from linguists, 80% from media experts, and 87% from practitioners, placing it in the "valid" to "highly valid" categories. Student responses reached 86.46% in the small-scale trial and 90.93% in the large-scale trial, while teacher responses reached 89% and 92%, respectively. Student learning outcomes improved from 47.0 to 90.4 in the small-scale trial and from 51.6 to 87.4 in the large-scale trial. Thus, the social literacy-based diorama media is considered feasible, practical, and effective for use in fifth-grade elementary school IPAS instruction.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the mathematical abilities of children aged 5–6 years through the use of the Wordwall learning media at Telkom Jambi Kindergarten. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 15 children in Group B aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes, and were analyzed descriptively using percentages. The results showed that the use of Wordwall significantly improved the children's mathematical abilities. In the pre-action stage, only 20% of the children achieved the categories of Developing as Expected (BSH) and Developing Very Well (BSB). After the implementation of Wordwall in Cycle I, this percentage increased to 60%, and further improved to 93.3% in Cycle II. The improvement was reflected in the children's ability to recognize number symbols, match numbers with quantities of objects, arrange numbers in sequence, and perform simple arithmetic operations. These findings indicate that Wordwall creates a more interactive, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby enhancing children's participation and understanding of mathematics. Therefore, the Wordwall learning media is effective in improving the mathematical abilities of early childhood learners at Telkom Jambi Kindergarten.

Abstract

Padang City is one of the regions with a high risk of earthquakes and tsunamis. Following an earthquake that has the potential to generate a tsunami, residents must immediately evacuate to safer locations. Based on the evacuation simulations conducted by the government, the West Sumatra Grand Mosque has been designated as one of the vertical evacuation shelters. Although the building was designed to withstand earthquakes, it is also necessary to ensure that its elevation is sufficient to protect the community from tsunami hazards. Therefore, this study aims to estimate the safe tsunami limit for the second floor of the West Sumatra Grand Mosque using the Hills and Mader inundation model combined with the SCHEMA model. The results of the study provide a safe tsunami threshold interval by classifying shelter conditions into three categories: safe, when the inundation depth remains below the evacuation floor elevation; alert, when the inundation depth approaches the evacuation floor elevation, requiring evacuation to a higher floor; and unsafe, when the inundation depth exceeds the available evacuation floor elevation. These threshold intervals provide a basis for evaluating the suitability of vertical evacuation shelters under various tsunami scenarios in Padang City. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for the planning and evaluation of vertical evacuation shelters and to support tsunami disaster mitigation efforts in Padang City.

Abstract

Current educational reforms have increasingly highlighted the importance of implementing deep learning to foster meaningful learning, higher-order thinking skills, and the ability to apply knowledge in authentic situations. Although numerous studies have investigated the effectiveness of deep learning in enhancing students’ learning outcomes, research examining students’ perceptions of its implementation, particularly in elementary education, remains limited. The novelty of this study lies in exploring students’ perceptions of deep learning implementation through four interconnected dimensions: cognitive, affective, social-collaborative, and reflective-applicative within the elementary school learning context. This study aimed to investigate students’ perceptions of the implementation of deep learning in classroom instruction at MIM 05 Tegalrejo. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted, involving one Grade V teacher and Grade V and Grade VI students selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The trustworthiness of the data was established using source, technique, and time triangulation, while data were analyzed through the processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students generally held positive perceptions of the implementation of deep learning across the four dimensions examined. They demonstrated the ability to understand concepts, think logically, collaborate with peers, and relate classroom learning to real-life experiences. In addition, students exhibited strong learning motivation, active participation, reflective thinking, and a willingness to apply acquired knowledge in everyday contexts. Questionnaire findings further indicated that the cognitive, affective, social-collaborative, and reflective-applicative dimensions were predominantly rated within the good and very good categories. However, perceptions related to evaluation and assessment were relatively less favorable, with only 60% of students reporting satisfaction with the fairness of assessment, while 40% indicated that the feedback provided by teachers still required improvement. These findings suggest that deep learning has the potential to promote meaningful learning experiences in elementary education. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to enhance student-centered instructional practices, implement fair and transparent assessment procedures, and provide ongoing constructive feedback to maximize the effectiveness of deep learning in primary school classrooms.

Abstract

Economic demands often force husbands to migrate for work, leaving wives with the dual responsibility of managing the household and ensuring their children's education. This situation significantly affects the continuity and stability of children's learning development. This study aims to analyze the role of migrant workers' wives in supporting the continuity of children's education and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in Pohgading Timur Village, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with migrant workers' wives and children as subjects, while the informants include teachers and village secretaries. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that migrant workers' wives play a role as caregivers, family financial managers, and educational motivators in supporting the continuity of children's education. Supporting factors include parental guidance and a positive environment, while inhibiting factors include family financial pressure and limited parental time to accompany children's education. The results of the study can be concluded that migrant workers' wives have a very important role in maintaining the continuity of children's education through care, financial management, and motivation. Therefore, cooperation between families, schools, and communities is needed to support the continuity of children's education.
